Disappointing, stressful experience - despite refund resolution eventually

This is a review for Bromley who are probably too scared to have their own profile, but hopefully the new GM will change that.
I want to begin by acknowledging Imran and Sarim for eventually ensuring our £500 deposit was refunded. That said, this does not take away from what was, overall, a very stressful and concerning experience.

We visited JEMCA’s Bromley dealership to view a vehicle, despite having had a poor experience there the year before. The car we were interested in was due to be moved to another dealership the following day, which created pressure to leave a deposit so we could return at the weekend to test drive it.

We later decided to proceed with a £500 refundable deposit on the clear understanding that we would only move forward with the purchase if the car was satisfactory after the test drive. The vehicle was priced at £33,500 and was the highest specification model, which made it particularly appealing as I am in the process of returning to driving after a long period of rehabilitation.

Our first concern arose when, after paying the deposit, we received paperwork stating there was a £2,000 credit card limit, meaning the remaining £31,500 would need to be paid in cash within seven days. This had not been disclosed beforehand.

During the test drive, the car was tightly parked and we were sent off after a brief walk-around. When we returned and viewed the vehicle in daylight, we discovered a severely buckled alloy wheel and a slashed tyre, rendering the car unroadworthy. We also found damage (a hard to spot dent) to the front passenger wing that appeared to have been pulled out but not properly repaired or repainted.

This raised concerns about potential hidden impact or stress damage, especially given the vehicle had only 4,400 miles on the clock. The overall condition of the alloys also suggested the car had not been well cared for, despite being used as a demo vehicle.

After the weekend, we requested our £500 deposit back. We were told repairs would be made and that we had “one last chance” to proceed. We declined and were promised a refund within five days.

The refund was not processed within that timeframe. We were later told this was because the bank details were “in the wrong name,” which was contradicted by the email trail. No one from the accounts team contacted us to clarify this, which prolonged the situation unnecessarily.

Additionally, the lack of response to phone calls, emails, and voicemails, including from management was extremely frustrating, particularly in a sales and customer service environment.

While we appreciate Sarim’s efforts to improve the dealership experience and resolve the matter in the end, the combination of pressure selling, lack of transparency around payment terms, presenting an unroadworthy vehicle for test driving, and delays in issuing a refundable deposit left us with a very negative overall impression.

My advice to others is to inspect any vehicle thoroughly, ensure all payment terms are clearly documented, and use a credit card for deposits where possible for added protection.

Difficult to get in touch on the phone but actual service is very good

We've been using Jemca for nearly 2 decades, to both buy our nearly new cars and for our annual service. We were very pleased with the service. However over the past 3 years Jemma's service has been exceedingly poor and their charges have gone up. We booked our car for a service including pick up and delivery. The after sales manager Charlotte wrote me a clear email which I replied to. This was sent on to the service manager and I had an incompréhensive email from him. When I phoned to enquire what he meant to say, I had to hold on for ages listening to an inane repetitive tune! They could call back instead. Also we had a problem from when we bought the car with the automatic boot opening and it's never been adequately fixed. I was now told in order to diagnose it, it will cost £200. I'm not sure if I'll use then again next year. Last year we used Jemca Derby and service was much better.
Just a little update, to be fair and honest. We had our car serviced last week and the service is excellent and thorough. It's also guaranteed for a year.

NEVER PURCHASE ANY ADDONS

They made me purchase a car insurance along with the car i bought with them thinking they will assist in claming car alloy and tyre damage, the third party company they work with totally old school claiming methodology where the customer service and the website they have it takes 9 months to get one claim , and upon uploading all the pictures they reject the claim saying the two claims are merged into one, They just want to loot money from the customers and dont want to do any service. Never ever buy any additional add ons offered by jemca croydon

Disgusting and unprofessional workers and service

I had a terrible experience when recently buying car from them. The so called consultant who deceived with over efficiency . After inspection , the car had some noise coming from the outside, which they acknowledged , and promised that they would correct it before delivery. They brought the car two days after with the same fault as it was - denied that there was a fault, the next they a driver came to pick up the vehicle again - so much attitude for these people , too much for used car sellers at that . I said I have not recieved my warranty documents - they vouched they sent and assumed I am dumb enough to not check the junk folders to see if they were in there ( only now do I realise that even yahoo has the possibility of putting emails from these companies into 'Junk ', where these belong nevertheless.
Anyway , not everyone is as careless as all the people who work at Jemca Croydon , mine were not even in the junk - they sent it to me then and there when I demanded - only to realise for the second time my name has been erroneously put in all the documents ,except the finance document, which matter to them for their living. However , of course they have the audacity to say 'I junnoooo, I junnoooo ' - I mean what can you expect from people who can't type a name which is in a driver's license correctly !!!! Illiteracy at best ! this is not human error - this is utter negligence and greed. I am not giving up on this , taking it up to the highest possible place . These people should learn to their Job, if not give it up and do something which they are good at , if there's anything. Utterly dissatisfied. Highly suggest to stay away from this disgusting company.

Unprofessional service, money making and delivering faulty cars

I have not seen any least professional and bad service than this. They have messed up our car purchase process and made if a very traumatic experience. Messed our names, delayed everything and delivered a faulty car. Never ever go for their service and avoid this service. Specially Mr Sanjiv Patel and Peter Dunn, who are extremely unprofessional. Peter has also been very rude, despite knowing what we as customers have gone through with their service. While I hope they resolve our issue, please do not go for their service.

Nice Toyota Aygo X

I was happy with my purchase, upon purchasing the car, there were some minor scratches that weren't there before. But lady who was serving me, took my car to garage part and polished it out. Was very happy and relieved. I would recommend there, was helpful, answered questions. When test running the car, they didn't come in the car with me, which made me enjoy the experience of driving it. Paper was simple and easy.

We visited the Toyota garage in Croydon…

We visited the Toyota garage in Croydon Purley way to purchase a Toyota aygo x and was greeted by a lovely man Martin who helped us.
We came back today to pick up the aygo x and again greeted by Martin who was more than helpful.
He kept in contact the whole week sorting things out for me.
He even made it special by putting a black sheet over the car in the show room, I had no idea we was sitting next to the car while sorting out the paper work.
Thank you Martin and we will see you again soon when we trade in for a new model.

Poor customer service!

I brought my car to Jemca in Croydon for a service. When I handed over my keys they told me "we'll call you when your car is ready to collect". At 12:40pm they called me to tell me my car was ready for collection and reminded me they were closing at 1pm. I quickly jumped on a bus to try to get there on time and while on my journey they called me to ask me how far away I was. I told them I was on the bus, I couldn't push the bus to go any faster. When I was 5 mins away they told me "sorry, it's after 1pm, we're going to lock up your car, you can collect it on Monday!" I told them "you can't do that, I came when they called, the earliest I would be able to collect my car would be next Saturday as I work in the city and wouldn't be able to collect before they close at 6pm in the week, so effectively they would be hijacking my car for a week!" They didnt care and hung up the phone. I was 5mins away and they hijacked my car for a week!

I will not be trusting Jemca Croydon with my car again, they have lost a customer due to their unprofessional and unforgiving bahaviour!

Terrible Experience Wouldn't Recommend

I'm leaving this review here, because it appears Jemca have deleted, or don't have a Trustpilot page for their Bracknell branch (I wonder why)

Possibly the worst vehicle purchasing experience I’ve had.

I purchased a used RAV4 for £25k from Jemca Toyota Bracknell. I was assured the vehicle was in good condition. However, when I arrived after travelling 150 miles, the car was poorly prepared: stains in the headlining, bodywork marks that had been covered with pen, and no real sign of proper pre-delivery preparation.

Within the first week of ownership I discovered multiple issues:

Front wheel bearing fault – diagnosed by my local Toyota dealer.

Battery health at only 31% – confirmed by the AA, leaving the car unable to start after only 10 minutes in ignition mode. The AA technician said the car should not have been sold with a battery in that condition.

Vehicle pulling to the left – requiring wheel alignment, where uneven tyre wear was identified. This directly contradicts the “145-point check” that Jemca had signed off.

Tyres – two needed replacement within days of purchase, and I am considering replacing all four for safety.

While warranty covers some of these repairs, the fact that so many faults appeared immediately raises serious questions about Jemca’s preparation and integrity of their advertised “145-point check.”

Efforts to resolve this with Jemca Toyota Bracknell have been extremely poor. Calls and emails are often ignored, and when I request to speak with a manager, I am either told they are not available or transferred to someone without authority. Promised call-backs are rarely honoured, and today the phone was left to ring out multiple times after staff had said they would transfer me.

In summary: Jemca Toyota Bracknell were very persistent in contacting me before purchase, but since handing over the money, their aftersales service has been virtually non-existent. Based on my experience, I would strongly advise anyone considering buying a vehicle here to think twice and carefully question the validity of their “145-point check.”

My CH-r’s alarm keeps going off between 1 - 2 am, so I called Jemca at Enfield this morning only to be told that there are no managers until 9.30 and the person I spoke said he would email them and ask them to ring me. No phone call by 10.30 and so called them back only to be told that they couldn’t look at the car until 14 July, I said that this isn’t acceptable as this has been happening for the past couple of days and she said well you can drop it off and pick up Monday and so I asked for curtesy car and her reply was no. I mentioned that this is a leased car under two years and that I also pay full maintenance, she said well if it’s out of warranty or that the maintenance doesn’t cover the cost that I would be charged £163.50 + VAT for labour. After speaking to her I called the finance company and explained the situation and was told she would contact Jemca and call back, which she did and I was told I could take it to them today. She also said that as it is a factory fitted alarm that it is covered under the warranty. The lady also told me that when I was there that if they didn’t look at it that I should ask for a Compass Form to complain.

I went to Enfield and was told that they are fully booked and that I would have to go back Monday. I asked if I could turn the alarm off as my neighbours are not happy about being woken up in the night and he said nothing they can do and to go back Monday. He also said I’d have to leave it there all day as they wouldn’t know when they would get around to looking at the car. I asked him for a Compass form and was told they don’t have one.

I left and called up Toyota UK as suggested by finance company who have done my complaint and he said I should have been offered a curtesy car. This is the third CH-R I have had, fortunately I haven’t had to have the cars repaired during the time of the agreement in the past, but I do think that customer service is just diabolical and won’t be recommending potential customers buying or leasing as when it goes wrong they just don’t want to know!

Unprofessional and corrupt

I bought a brand new Toyota bZ4X from Jemca Croydon. What should have been an exciting memorable moment, they did brilliant turning it into a stressful headache.

First, they told me the car would be ready around May or June, but then suddenly called in April saying it had arrived early and that I had just one week to collect it. I rearranged my life to be there on 11 April, only to be told AFTER arriving that the car hadn't arrived. No apology, just “come back tomorrow 11AM.”

The next morning, I was told the same thing over the phone at 10:00AM — that it still hadn’t arrived — yet when I got there at 10:30AM, it was sitting there in the shade. So clearly I've been lied to here.

The car was under a canopy so after signing the paperwork and asking the workers to please explain the functions of the car since they weren't going to be bothered to do it themselves, we drove to Morden to show the new car to family. And once we saw it for the first time in sunlight there were extremely clear stains, scratches, and what looked like dodgy polish work or poor resprays. I returned the car within an hour to report it and they tried to blame it on us. Again I came back within one hour.

The dealership didn’t take any accountability. They rushed a repair in front of me (just some spray) that clearly wasn’t done professionally, and the issues came back after a simple wash.

So I wrote a formal complaint letter to Toyota and after reviewing it they refused to take accountability saying that they have standards when they sell a car and that we the stains were probably caused by us trying to clean it and polishing it with chemicals. Firstly Toyota, you didn't even acknowledge the scratches (which I sent them pictures of as well as the stains), secondly why in the WORLD would we go home, ruin the brand new car with chemicals only to bring it back in an hour?? we live 30 minutes away so this wouldn't be possible anyway so maybe they think we brought the polish with us and after buying the car pulled over somewhere to ruin our new car so that we get to go through this headache with them. What a load of crap.

Absolutely unprofessional, dishonest, and careless from start to finish. Would not recommend Jemca Croydon to anyone.
