Parent of a third year Outset Alumni here. Just when I thought this program could not get any better, they raised the stakes.

We have had nothing but a positive experience each and every year with Outset. The offered tracks, the counselors, the leadership, the lectures, the hands-on exercises - all top-notch.

My student has been allowed a wide variety of opportunities through Outset which has opened her eyes to the never-ending possibilities in medicine.

Highly highly recommend this program for students who even have an inkling of an idea about entering the medical field after high school.

Our daughter just completed the Outset Surgery Program at Vanderbilt University, and we couldn't be more impressed. The experience exceeded all of her expectations and has further inspired her passion for pursuing a career in medicine.

From day one, she was welcomed into an engaging, supportive, and intellectually stimulating environment. The opportunity to learn from outstanding physicians, interact with medical professionals, and gain hands-on exposure to the field of surgery was truly invaluable. Throughout the week, every conversation with her reflected how excited, inspired, and engaged she was. She couldn't stop talking about everything she was learning, the friendships she was building, and how much the experience was reinforcing her dream of becoming a physician.

A special thank you to Andy Dillon and the entire Outset team for creating such a well-organized, meaningful, and inspiring program. Your dedication to mentoring and encouraging the next generation of healthcare professionals is evident in every aspect of the experience.

We are incredibly grateful for this opportunity and highly recommend the Outset Program to any student interested in exploring a career in medicine. Thank you for making this an unforgettable week for our daughter!

Two of my sons attended UNC Chapel Hill this summer and really enjoyed meeting kids from around the country . The boys were really impressed by the counselors , the food and the campus . They both enjoyed their pre-health majors experience. Thank you Outset !

The staff and counselors were great. Everything was organized and safe. Campers had so much fun and learned a lot!

Loved getting to know the UNC campus and student life and the steps for med school and everything after that. They did a good job letting us know what is to come but make sure we weren't stressed out too young. I loved the simulations and hands on we got to do, but I do wish we could do more, especially things specific to the track (orthopedic surgery). I also think a lot of the information about med school and beyond is kind of too surface level, yes they don't want to stress us out and just give it an overview, but a lot of it could be found on if you just looked it up in maybe 5 seconds lol. But still the experience was a 10/10, just my recommendations for the future sessions.
I made amazing friends and my roommate was amazing as well, so were the counselors and staff! The night activities were amazing, especially Frankie's! It was nice how we didn't have to eat in the dining hall every night! We had great dinners through catering and restaurants on Franklin.

My experience at Outset was truly amazing. We had lectures everyday that were fun and engaging, but also extremely informative. They introduced key ideas such as preparation for the MCAT and how to prepare for college as a highschooler. I took the pediatrics track and it was a super fun experience. We learnt a lot of valuable information about children, and even had hands-on labs. I can't forget to mention the amazing staff! They were funny, kind, and kept us safe while keeping us engaged. They were interested in our experiences and made our evening activities possible. I would 10/10 recommend this experience to anyone who is willing to go (one piece of advice is to be ready to walk).

My son had a great time. It was a good balance of introduction to medicine and fun. We are happy he was able to experience this camp.

The Outset program not only helped me understand what it means to be a physician and the steps to get there, but they also helped me grow socially, build friendships I hope last a life time, and a better understanding on why I even want to become a doctor. I would truly recommend this program to anyone who has ever had the idea of becoming a physician.

My daughter attended the Outset camp and loved every second of it. The experience gave her insight into what school could look like for her and confidence in what her next steps will be. The camp did a great job communicating and setting appropriate expectations. Would definitely recommend to parents who have children interested in healthcare as a career path.

The Outset Nursing Program was excellent! Our daughter had an amazing experience. It helped her better understand what she truly wants to pursue in the future and provided valuable information and guidance to help her continue on that path. The program was extremely well organized, engaging, and informative. She absolutely loved it! We highly recommend it to any student interested in exploring a career in nursing or healthcare.

I attended the UNC Chappell Hill Program, and I chose the general surgery track. It was so much fun, the simulation were super fun, I believe I really learned, and the sessions in particular were on another level. Medicine is such a hard path, so the fact that I had the opportunity of learning from surgeons and medical students who already went through this whole process makes me feel better. I grasped such a better understanding of what I have to do now, and I feel less lonely and less stressed about it. It was definitely so rewarding, and would love to go back next summer!

Even though the program is somewhat expensive but worth.
My daughter had blast and she is 9 th grader, she wants to be a cardiologist/ cardiac surgeon,this program help her decide that this is what she wants to pursue.
It was well organized and very engaging.
She came home with wonderful experience.
Would highly recommend every parent and their child.

I was in general medicine and I found the program very enlightening. I was relatively unsure about medicine beforehand, but hearing from people in the field as well as current students was pretty useful. However, in my opinion, the best part of the program (at unc at least) was going to the simulation lab, particularly learning how to speak to patients and practicing on patient actors. The order and organization of topics that we had lectures on was also very intuitive and flowed really well. My only gripe was that some parts of the presentations were slightly rushed for the sake of time, but that’s understandable.

Our son had an amazing experience at general surgery camp. He will go again and his brother also wants to attend! The lectures, labs and activities were all great!!!!

Our daughter had the most wonderful week and learned so much! Outset was organized, excellent communication and provided an excellent academic experience. Highly recommend Outset!

My daughter absolutely loved her Outset week at UNC Chapel Hill. She came home excited to talk about all of the things she learned and did and also said the evening activities were well planned. The counselors were all nice and the instructors sound amazing. Thank you, well worth it!
