Not unlimited as advertised

I was initially very interested in using KnownHost because of their fast response time and what appeared to be a solid hosting offering.

However, after spending quite a bit of time discussing my requirements with their support team, I discovered a major issue that is not clearly disclosed on their website.

Their “Professional” shared hosting plan is advertised with “unlimited” features, but in reality it comes with a strict inode limit of only 300,000. This is a critical limitation that is not transparently listed, and it completely changes the value of the plan.

In my case, I have low traffic and minimal resource usage, but a higher number of files due to emails and parked domains. The plan would have been perfect otherwise, but the inode restriction makes it unusable. The only solution offered was to upgrade to a plan that is double the price, which is unnecessary for my actual needs.

I appreciate that they were honest when asked directly, but this kind of limitation should be clearly stated upfront. Marketing something as “unlimited” while having strict hidden limits is misleading and wastes customers’ time.

I am giving 2 out of 5 stars. One star for the fast response time, and one star for the friendly and helpful support.

I would have been happy to give 5 stars if the inode limits had been clearly listed on the website from the beginning, allowing customers to make an informed decision.

Overall, responsive support, but a lack of transparency regarding key technical limits.

The full breakdown shows 100,000 inodes on Basic, 200,000 on Standard, 300,000 on Professional, and 600,000 on Premium. We understand that a dedicated compare page isn't always the first place someone looks, and that's fair feedback we'll take to heart when thinking about how to make these details more visible.

We also hear you on the situation with your specific needs. Having a higher file count from emails and parked domains without heavy resource usage is a fairly unique use case, and we're sorry the Professional plan didn't end up being the right fit. If you ever want to revisit, we'd be happy to have a conversation about what might work best for your setup before you commit to anything.

Customer Support most excellent - we are not server-savvy

We've had a website since the Mac desktop was a new phenom and everything was done with dial-up connections. So, we're OG on the user side, but depend entirely on our hosting company for anything on the server side. We have moved through half-a-dozen hosting companies over the years as we have grown. We were referred to Knownhost by "our man in Pakistan" (we needed him then - no longer do) after multiple battles with the mega-hosting company in Germany over a move from rack server to VPN. Knownhost transitioned our site flawlessly and promptly (flawless more important than promptness :) Their response to every support ticket in the 17 months since we transferred our business to Knownhost has been prompt, thorough, above-and-beyond excellent.
*Tips for viewers reading the one-star reviews: look at the date of the review, many are over a decade old; and read the replies by Knownhost. Haters will hate and blame others. ...just sayin'

KnownHost gets top marks!

I got so fed up with my Web hosting provider (who will go nameless) that I decided to switch the hosting of my websites, and I'm glad I did!

After a careful, thorough search I settled on KnownHost, in part because it's fiercely independent, not part of a big conglomerate, and my experience has been stellar:

• Migration was free, fast and efficient, even my tricky legacy apps.
• Support has been outstanding, fast and responsive.
• Performance has been spectacular. My websites have never been so fast!
• Ownership means they prioritize customers, not shareholders.

Bottom Line: Premium hosting at a reasonable price point, ideal for those who value quality over the lowest cost. Highly recommended.

Not part of a promotion!

This review is not part of a promotion or incentive driven. This is a true customer that has had a good experience with KH....I had shopped around for a host for my website for about 6 months. I kept hearing good things about KH and decided to go with them. This is our first website and host and the customer service has been amazing. Several times I have had questions or problems with the website and they were very quick to respond and help. When they could have said, "you need to speak to your IT person for that" they didn't. They even spoke to me over the phone for a better understanding and resolution when needed. I will be a KH customer for as long as I need a host for my website.

Finally, the hosting company I was looking for

I’ve been hosting websites for our clients for 15 years, and during that time I’ve worked with quite a few companies. The last time we switched was 1–2 years ago. We were with A2 Hosting for a long time, but we became increasingly dissatisfied with their support and hosting services.

After so many years, I have a very clear idea of what we need for smooth and sustainable operation, so I didn’t choose a company easily, but emailed each potential one individually and asked about everything that mattered. This is how I ended up choosing KnownHost, and we’ve been completely satisfied ever since, using a "semi-dedicated" package.

There was even a more complex support ticket where even the owner himself got involved for discussion. Also, our websites run with 99.99%-100% uptime (based on our own measurements), and honestly, this has been the best provider we’ve worked with so far.

I’ve been extremely impressed with…

I’ve been extremely impressed with KnownHost since making the switch. Their support team is easy to contact, and every time I’ve reached out, the response has been quick, professional, and genuinely helpful.

The shared hosting performance is excellent — everything runs fast and smoothly, which is a huge improvement over my previous provider. I couldn’t even get help from HostGator and was unable to contact them, so switching to KnownHost has been a game-changer.

The best - hands down.

We used to be with Bluehost to host all of our domains, but they got too costly so we left. We’ve been with Knownhost for maybe 7 or more years now. We've had nothing but an amazing experience with them so far. The setup was smooth, everything runs reliably, and performance has been consistently solid.

What really stands out is their support - fast, knowledgeable, and actually helpful (which is very rare). Any time I’ve had a question or needed assistance, it’s been handled quickly without the usual back-and-forth. it feels like before you've even clicked send, they are back with a reply. And even when the issue is not caused by their end - which it never is - they still help me solve the issue. Who else does that? No-One!

It’s clear they know what they’re doing and take their service seriously. If you’re looking for a hosting provider that just works without the headaches, I’d definitely recommend them.

FYI, we have the "Professional Reseller" package and could not be happier.

Best customer service and tech support in the industry, truly top notch!

I don't know how they are getting only 4.3 stars when their customer service has always been phenomenal. But what really impresses me is their tech support. They actually have agents working tech support that know all the ins and outs of a linux server, which is pretty incredible. There's never been a server issue that they weren't able to fix for me. Sure, it would be nice to be able to pick up the phone and talk to a tech, but that's not really necessary. They are so on top of the ticketing system that when you submit a support ticket for help, they normally get on it within 1 minute! That in itself is incredible. Some of the bigger companies have phone tech support, which I've had to use in the past, but they were useless. Many are kids just coming out of high school and have no idea how to manage a linux server. So Kudos KnownHost for having knowledgeable techs helping your customers! As far as the server technology, they are second to none. They now feature servers with high speed SSD Drives and plenty of memory for all your needs. Truly top notch. Can't say enough about them. Oh, and I've been hosting my sites with KnownHost for over 10 years at this point and hope to continue for many more.

We've used KnownHost for about 9 years. Our experience has never once given us a reason to look elsewhere. As someone managing multiple client sites, this sort of consistency matters.

We use the DirectAdmin GUI, which is clean, fast, and intuitive. Uptime has never been an issue.

The few times I've needed support, I got an immediate response and extremely fast resolution; no scripted answer or runaround to be found here.

Pricing is fair, especially when considering they are not owned or financed by some Hell-oligopoly. They just quietly get better over time without jacking up rates.

I've found KnownHost to be an illustration of what managed hosting should be.

Awful. Could not even get approved after paying and don't answer phones.

Awful customer service. Thinks everyone is fraud. They say too many flags yet i have 800+ credit score. I gave my driver license and credit card screenshot showing it was paid. They reversed the payment, deleted my account, and never replied again. Horrible customer service. I called them and no call back. Stay far away. Something wrong with them in Florida.

my update 4/9/2026 - I had another host take the time and kindness to verify me and all went well. Fraud is high apparently so merchants are applying low thresholds so they don't get dropped and higher discount rates. Having taking credit cards 20 years ago i remember i was able to set settings about what will pass or not but obviously the stakes are higher now. Oddly the credit cards are happy to do a simple check and let it go through.

Ultimately I ended up at a VPS and used my Paypal with the same credit card and zero issues once again. It's understandable that red flags come up these days, but how you handled it is abhorrent and immature. You chose to be emotionally reactive and not return emails or a phone call. Hearing my voice you choose not to call me or you simply don't answer calls or listen to messages since it went straight to message?

Your reply says exactly who is running the company and it is not anyone with any maturity level that i would want to do business with. I am quite sure I am who I am. This was not a mistake, this is poor behaviour from young engineers. If you think a criminal would post a review, then you are lacking more than I thought. Hopefully some adults find their way in charge over there. I hope people see the truth here as they try to hide behind "mistakes happen" and we still think you are not real. By the way, delete my credit card and driver license photo I sent you. thanks!
