LabJack threads the needle.
LabJack threads the needle.
Labjack threads the needle between cost, performance, and product support. There is a cacophony of inexpensive DAQs out there so that the old days of being married to National Instruments for quality measurements is over, but how to chose? LabJack units are inexpensive, but their engineers have made careful and deliberate choices about where to trim cost and where to push for performance. Native firmware provides seamless interface with countless digital and analog sensors. By using industry standard interfaces, LabJack systems get throughput performance while also benefiting from economy of scale and the promise that hardware drivers won't suddenly evaporate with the next Windows release. The folks at LabJack have cleverly figured out how to jam as much interface support as they can into a small and inexpensive DAQ.
Here's what doesn't come across in the spec sheets... LabJack's support is unparalleled for comparably priced devices. I have one of the first DAQs LabJack made (the U12) and I can still download drivers for it. I was among the early adopters of the T7, and I was emailing directly with engineers who kept me up-to-date on the software support as it was being released. Staff respond promptly and professionally to forum and email questions. The documentation is clear and thorough. Software support includes enough languages and platforms that it is difficult to imagine a user that won't be able to make a LabJack work for them. I have never regretted buying a LabJack.
LabJack DAQs are so inexpensive and so capable, I no longer bother with DAQ selection when I design a new experiment. I just buy a few extra T-series DAQs and network them everywhere a measurement is convenient. At this point, the only reason for me to ever go with a different product would be if I needed sample rates faster than the T7's 100kS/s, but that isn't very likely in my line of work.
Happy with LabJack
Hey! I've used with LabJack products for a while now and they're working as intended. Their forum support is also great, they're answering to all your questions in little to no time and they're also very helpful.
I'll definitely recommend them to anyone in need of equipment for projects about measuring something from a device with analog or digital outputs.
My experience with LabJack could not…
My experience with LabJack could not have been better. I needed extra channels for a project I was working on. My first stop was to their web site where I quickly found what I needed. I downloaded the associated documents which I perused for a day or two, then ordered. From the time I opened the package to being operational was about 15 minutes. I turned it on about a year ago and its been running ever since.
U3 is Reliable
I have 2 u3-Hv's . One is used to monitor batteries during charging. The other is used to gather data while prototyping circuits. Both are over 5 years old and very reliable.
Great product
Experience with lab and field use
I have been using LabJack devices for many years now, mainly for small lab testing purposes. More recently we have been incorporating them into an array of radio telescopes for monitor and control and will eventually have 110 deployed. For this we use the T7 OEM version. The devices have so far proven very reliable and cost-effective. Mostly I use the Website for support, but in the few cases where I have needed further information the engineers at LabJack have been both prompt and helpful. An important aspect of LabJack is the careful control of versions so that code can be frozen at a given version or updated, based on good change information. The Modbus interface is robust, Lua scripting is useful (although limited in size), and the hardware accuracy excellent.

A Tool For Learning Data Logging
Received the item late, the following day, obviously this was the fault of the courier, but this was soon made up by the actual item Labjack controller when it did arrive.
I am familiar with data logging & control as I work in industry but have never heard of Labjack, but can say at an affordable price you can by the kit & instantly start learning with plenty of free software available over the internet & YouTube videos to help you get started quickly.
Purchased a Labjack course from Udemy with even a coupon price so the kit was a little cheaper, that starts with the very basic of using this kit to actually building projects & using programmable language such as Java python & lua scripts to get you on the way.
A kit very easy to use & learn so is suitable for anyone in that arena who wants to get involved or start with to learn & understand, quite quickly. Personally I like the way it gets you up to speed quickly with a wealth of information readily accessible from their website as well as others & with the course going through each process step by step allowing you to gain a lot of information that helps you to customise this controller for your purpose or use. They have a range of type from basic data logging to basic controls to Ethernet & wireless networking making this very flexible, highly recommended.
Even having this kit for less than two day I am very excited about it & as a student am looking forward to getting very involved in what this tool has to offer as well as learning & understanding with lots of hands on experience.
Sweet little gadgets
I have used several LabJack products, they have all worked as advertised. The drivers and API are logical and usable.

Provide great support before and after product purchase.
They have great technical support.
LabJack
Very poor software available as in LabVIEW. Software integration is fundamental these days with all third parties software. The whole US university system uses LabView and when they graduate they take it with them .

Quality answers
Excellent forum support, fast response time and quality technical answers.
Good Quality and Service
The products were of the highest quality and functioned as advertised. The background support from both staff and web content was excellent. I must however do point out the lack of 3D models for the use in CAD modelling does require some attention to make this an all round excellent solution.
Fantastic devices, fantanstic support.
I am a novice user that needed a flexible and configurable platform to automate a few simple tasks and collect data from several sensors. LabJack offers a highly flexible a capable platform to do just that, along with absolutely top notch customer service. I was either able to find answers to my questions on the community support page or got a direct answer from a LabJack engineer. These devices have added a whole new dimension of capability to what I am able to do.

I use U6-pros with Python for DAQ. Multiple (20) projects over the last decade -they work great. Response from company, I think I've asked 2 questions, (I like email) is quick, concise and correct. For those complaining about the documentation, I say spend 1 hour "actually" reading the manual and you'll have no problems, EVERYTHING is documented. Good products, high accuracy. I'm still buying them. Tick-products are a bit expensive.
Excellent DIO boards, good LabView support
Very nice hardware implementation, easy to use. The screw terminals work well. Labview examples were of high quality and made incorporation into my code straight forward. Devices are capable of complex operations, that said, more simple example code VIs would be helpful.
