I paid $5,000 to Listing Referral Group…
UPDATE!
**$5,000 Paid. Months of Excuses. An Appalling Experience With Listing Referral Group.**
I strongly regret paying Listing Referral Group $5,000. My experience with this company has been one of the most frustrating professional relationships I've encountered.
Before signing up, I was told in writing that LRG would work toward setting one to two listing appointments per week. What I've experienced instead is a steady stream of FSBO contacts, many of whom have little or no interest in hiring a listing agent. In numerous cases, I'm simply instructed to call the seller myself and attempt to arrange an appointment.
I've followed up with these referrals, spoken directly with sellers, attended 1 appointment that was arranged, and consistently provided feedback. What I've uncovered is deeply concerning.
One seller was described as someone who would consider listing with an agent if her property didn't sell. When I spoke with her, she explicitly rejected listing representation. Another referral described a seller as both "not in a rush" and "Must sell." When I questioned that obvious discrepancy, LRG couldn't provide a straightforward explanation.
This isn't an isolated incident. It's part of a recurring pattern I've raised with the company repeatedly.
And then there's the customer service.
Mike Edwards, LRG's client manager, has been extraordinarily dismissive. Instead of addressing legitimate concerns about referral quality and accuracy, he repeatedly responds with lectures about how I should prospect, build relationships and follow up with sellers.
I didn't pay $5,000 to be patronized or to have basic questions repeatedly avoided.
After months of unproductive exchanges, I formally requested a different account manager. Mike's entire response was:
"I am the Client Manager and I will remain your point of contact."
That response perfectly captures my experience with this company. A paying customer raises serious concerns, asks for accountability and requests an alternative contact. LRG's response is effectively to shut down the conversation.
The company has also refused my request for an early refund, leaving me to pursue the six-month refund provision in the agreement.
I have documented the referrals, seller conversations, conflicting information and correspondence with LRG. This review is based on my direct experience, not speculation.
**My advice to other real estate agents: Think very carefully before handing Listing Referral Group thousands of dollars.**
Ask exactly how they define a qualified referral. Ask how many actual appointments they will arrange. Get every representation in writing. Read the refund provisions carefully.
I wish I had never entered into this agreement. I have completely lost confidence in both the service and the people responsible for addressing customer concerns.
