CROOKED THEY SHOULD NOT BE IN WORK. (USELESS)
Extremely disappointing experience and completely ripped us off.
We were locked out of our home on a Sunday because none of our keys were working in the front door latch. As we couldn’t contact our landlord, we had no choice but to call an emergency locksmith.
We were initially quoted £169 + VAT to sort the door, which we agreed to. The locksmith then drilled the existing lock off, after which we were told there would be an additional £99 + VAT labour charge. Afterwards, we were told the replacement lock and keys would cost a further £289 + VAT, bringing the total to approximately £668.40 including VAT.
We are three young women and were already extremely distressed and vulnerable having been locked out of our home. We were told the locksmith would not leave until the full amount was paid, and that otherwise he would drill the door/lock back off which he subsequently did.
We would never have agreed to use this company if we had been told from the outset that the cost could be anywhere near £668. The pricing was communicated in stages, with additional costs being introduced after the work had already begun.
What makes this even more concerning is that my dad subsequently repaired the door himself, with the replacement parts costing just £23.
We completely understand that emergency Sunday call-outs and drilling locks can be expensive, but we feel the way the costs were communicated was completely unacceptable. We were put under significant pressure to pay an amount we had not originally agreed to, while having very limited options.
We feel we were taken advantage of because we were three women in a vulnerable situation. I would strongly advise anyone using this company to get the full cost, including labour, parts, VAT and any emergency charges, in writing before allowing any work to begin.
A very upsetting and disappointing experience.
I called the company and told them exactly what the problem was - faulty mechanism on outbuilding sliding door. They told me the cost would be £49 to get the door open then additional charges to repair/replace the mechanism. When the (very nice) workman came round, he repeated the problem to me and said it would cost £200 to get the door open. I ended up paying £49 just to send the workman away without doing anything. I refuse to give any more money to this company as their communication over the phone was completely false. Please do not trust what this company tells you.
Was told estimated arrival time was 30 minutes, noone showed up after 90 minutes. We tried to call to cancel the service and they hung up on us. Do not use.
Avoid this company!
We were locked in the house on Sunday…..locksmith came quickly, removed front door lock and replaced.
Charged £1640!!!
Excessive!
When challenged offered £100 if I would sign ‘an agreement!’ I refused and will be going to Trading Standards authority
Shocking !!
Called them out to replace lock on front door as I locked myself out.was quoted 149+vat. When he drilled the lock & changed it l. He quoted £700. What a complete rip off.primised he would sent receipt. Still waiting. Never use again
Called about a safe that we had lost the key to. Was quoted around £60 and confirmed no call out fee. 'Technician' turned up within 30 minutes, told us that it would actually cost £120+VAT and he would have to drill it. Told him that we didn't want to go ahead at that cost and he then tried to get us to pay a cancellation fee of £59. I told him that there was no call out fee and we never agreed for any work to be done. He then tried to make out that it wasn't a call out fee, it was a cancellation fee.
He eventually left after 5-10 minutes and his manager never called us back. We knew what was going on and refused to pay.
Do not give these scammers your money.
The gentleman who replaced my mortice lock was pleasant but the chiselling to fit the new lock is a bit rough. More importantly, I was shocked at the invoice. I was charged £182.38 for call out and <2 hours labour - shocking! And worse still I was charged £151.19 for a <£25.00 replacement lock! An utterly disgraceful rip off.

***CON MEN***
Extremely unfair service.
You expect to pay a premium for an emergency call out, but the number kept growing from before he started to after he finished, went from £150 call out fee, £350 to get in the house, to a final bill of sale £1500 to replace the lock. Very rude man who acted in aggressive manor. Clearly out to take advantage of people and would only give us a quote for new lock once he had drilled out old one.
I couldn’t gain access to my bedroom. I was on my own in the house dealing with a cross man who originally quoted £40. Due to it being “a high security lock” the price went up to £350. I couldn’t pay that and he conveniently dropped it down to £120. It was like he’d never seen a lock before.
Honestly disgusting to take advantage of people in vulnerable situations. They know what they’re doing. It’s gross and slimy. Avoid.
Get a free quote, then they try to charge you when you're not happy with the price and want another quote. Yeah, I'm not paying you, sorry. Awful
Absolute cowboy...
Extremely poor service. I contacted several locksmiths through Google, and this company was the only one that said they could come out immediately. The technician inspected the lock and actually rendered it unusable, then said it needed to be replaced. We were charged £414, which felt excessive—especially as we were never told the cost before any work started. I was on a work call at the time, so my husband dealt with the technician. After payment, he was told that a receipt or invoice would be emailed to us.
Instead of a receipt, we only received an email with some basic information about the lock that was used. We waited several days for the proper invoice, but it never arrived, and eventually we gave up chasing it.
Less than two months later, the lock has failed again. We were told at the time of installation that there was a six-month guarantee. Since yesterday, I have been calling the company repeatedly. The call centre kept taking my details and said a technician would be sent, but nothing has happened. When I called back later, my calls went to voicemail. On three occasions when someone did answer, I was told they were trying to reach the technician, but still no one has come out.
At this point, I genuinely feel we have been scammed. We paid by credit card and were clearly told the work had a six-month guarantee.
Absolute Cowboys
On October 12, my mother who is 88 years old was nearly out of hospital . When I was unable to raise her via telephone, I rushed over to her house. Unfortunately, despite asking her for months, she had not given me a copy of one of her door keys. We were told an ambulance could help us get in, but they were going to be two hours. In panic, we looked at Google to find a local Locksmith. This company showed us being in the Lewes area pinpointed on the map around 5 miles away. I called them and explained to the urgency of the situation and was promised somebody would be with me in half an hour. It took 50 minutes for him to turn up and he arrived just after the ambulance. Once we got into the building, we found my mother on the floor in a very serious condition. The operative then asked he should secure the door and put in a new look. He quoted a total price of £400, I thought fair enough it’s a Sunday. Once he could completed the work, my Uncle and I split the bill and paid him via a debit card. He took £293 from each of us. I was promised an invoice would come in the post. over two weeks later and asking on three occasions for an invoice to be emailed over I’ve had nothing. Has it not been literally a life and death situation, we would have been looking at Trustpilot before choosing Locksmith. I feel compelled to write this review, because this company are nothing but lowlife.
Happily, my mother is now home and recovering .
Cowboys- firstly told on the phone £59 for unlocking the stuck pvc door which went up to £99 plus VAT when I refused to pay the £380 plus VAT I was quoted to replace the mechanism and the barrel he broke to gain access. Another locksmith came out and said there was nothing wrong with the mechanism and just changed the barrel which cost £12.99 to buy. Absolute joke! Avoid these people
Scammers! Beware. Changed their number on the website in the afternoon. Over charged for parts. DO NOT USE
The customer service is absolutely zero. The pricing is unfair, and the whole experience was misleading from start to finish. I would not recommend this company to anyone at all.
On the website, the price was listed as £40. However, when the technician arrived, he informed me that it would actually cost £60 + VAT.
Seeing that we were desperate to get the door open, he claimed it would take 1 to 2 hours due to the mechanism and complexity and said the cost would be around £140 or less depending on the time. Surprisingly, he opened the door in just 5 minutes and charged me £168. He then asked for an extra £120 for a temporary lock and stated that a permanent repair could cost around £450. OMG.
he unnecessarily broke a piece of the lock ad when I asked for the broken part, he said he had thrown it in the bin and couldn’t retrieve it.
I have tried contacting the company multiple times to speak with someone about the charges or to escalate the issue to a manager. Every time, I was told the manager was busy and would call me back shortly. No one has contacted me to this day.
