Mainstreet Equity Avis 

Lady from Mainstreet apologized for being rude & telling me I would be approved in 24 hours. Sat at Subway & MacDonalds all night & part of day. Will look at building & apartment. Lady took me there & apartment is in bad shape…..even bathtub is rusted & was left for a long time. They won’t return my damage deposit of $511.00. Will look at other apartments….basement suites with other company. She told me $511.00 was for reserving apartment then told me it was Damage Deposit. I had no idea that the apartment looked so bad until I saw it with my own eyes. My application was approved, but not very honest because they won’t return damage deposit. Video she showed me & sent me didn’t show the true bad condition of apartment….won’t get into another bad lease. There are lots of scams, be careful. Asked to see other apartments & she said she was very busy & had busy schedule. Apartment wasn’t what I expected. What a terrible leasing company. She was driving a black Nissan SUV & her pants were tan in colour with no hem & jagged on bottom of pants. She had dark hair in pony tail, wearing dark glasses with accent. She was in big hurry to lease apartment & used pressure tactics. Black SUV she was driving was very new. Now I am out $511, but have receipt. It says auto deposit on receipt….talking to bank about it, to see if it can be reversed. What a rip off. I will tell bank & took her off contact through bank & on my mobile phone. I don’t know how she can do what she does to people. She wouldn’t come back into Subway when parking outside in her SUV & texted me & wanted me to come out to SUV. She met me inside Subway when she first met me. I suspected something was wrong & I was right….what a crook. She has sixteen year old son, her mother is still alive & lives outside of the city of Calgary in house. There isn’t any Mainstreet Logo on Black SUV she drives.

Lots of homeless entering the building. People smoking inside their apartments. Landry rooms with homeless people sleeping in them and broken appliances. Total lack of response to tenants from landlord or supervisor, either by text or email. It took almost 2 months to repair a minor sink water leak. No customer support from head office phone line, always busy or calls drop. Lots of noise every Sunday from 7:30 am, due to mainstreet workers mowing the lawn or blowing leaves in the summer and cleaning snow in the winter. Issues with payments and feedback from tenants and supervisors. You tell me if you still want you rent with mainstreet. It is up to you!

Not even one star if I could help it.. due to I live at Chelsea park gardens and the manager or landlord Asad is not taking his job seriously due to there is an issue with one tenant always screaming and fighting and its not only upsetting and disturbing me its also disturbing the tenants below the ones constantly fighting ... I am loosing quiet enjoyment and cops are useless this has been going on for 7 months plus and the landlord building manager has been giving 10 us warnings thats it but everyone else in the building itself gets 3 warnings then the boot but the ones that are constantly fighting are getting 10 plus warnings and i dont find it right that they get to fight and upset everyone but get to stay but everyone else gets evicted for minor issues

It's a crap rental company. They don't respond to issues reported. People smoke cannabis and cigarette inside their suite, leaving the whole apartment building overwhelmingly smoky and stinky all the time. The admin don't respect tenants. A shit company.

Lived in a Mainstreet building for one year.
- Roaches in the building
- Other residents of the building stole from us
- The front door got smashed three times in a year, and the doors were constantly jammed open(security risk)
- The fire alarm broke and someone "fixed" it by just taping it into the closed position.
- Paint from the cupboards flaking off onto dishes and countertops
-Police at the building so often that they have their own key
- The staff were unresponsive, made numerous mistakes, never called out a maintainence person to repair the parts of the building that were falling off the roof and dangling over our balcony.

We would have avoided Mainstreet if we had known about it's reputation. I am writing this in hopes that it helps prevent someone from having the experience I just got out of

Built in 1975,Severe MOLD issues,management puts a "bandaid" on,sprayed Kilz and called it fixed,the are affected is from baseboard to windowsill about 4 feet across as well!

Bad experience renting with this company. Old units and also the management is very weak and useless.

i had the worst experience of my life with that garbage company. Terrible staff, awful service, homeless people constantly in the building, and cockroaches in the apartment. They don’t make any effort to help when there’s a problem—just leave you hanging and even laugh at you. They make life miserable for tenants and mess up your credit. i moved 4 times in year because of the problems in their appartment (noise, homeless, cockroaches). they make the life of candian citizen as hell, i had the worst experience I’ve ever had in Canada.

I've lived with mainstreet for five years now, and lived with them once before previously in 2017. I've only lived at their buildings in Calgary, but have always had a great experience. Affordable, cool buildings, good locations.
