DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY ON MANDY IF YOU ALREADY HAVE BACKSTAGE!!! They take the full annual subscription out of your account and do not do monthly payment. It is a duplicate site to Backstage. Once you discover this and ask for a cancellation and refund THEY WILL CONTINUE TO SAY YOU WILL RECEIVE A RESPONSE FROM A HUMAN WITH IN A FEW HOURS. It has been 2 days and I have heard NOTHING. I believe I’ve been scammed.

I wish there was 0 stars… SCAM!!!! Subscribed, they took monthly money, and every time I want to apply for a job, they ask me to “ Subscribe”!!! Had chat with AI I suppose… said they would be back in touch but never! Emailed the “customer service email” and it says “address not found”!! Asked for REFUND but wonder if anybody ever will see it.. such a disappointment for a “known” name :(

Why is this company stealing from me?

2 years ago I deactivated the auto renewal setup on my account.

I don't wish to renew and I was very surprised to see that they had taken payment.

Mandy have made some changes over the last 2 years that resulted in my having g to basically set everything up from scratch cause all of my employable records were now missing. I imaging that it was during there alterations that the auto-renewal was activated, however this is not something they advised on.

I contacted them using their contact form, the advice was that someone would get back to me with in 48 hours. I have been in a live open chat for has 3 days (discounting the weekend) the member of staff assigned to my case has been active on line, she was last active ,3 hours ago, but Xyrhina clearly doesn't see my complaint as priority is she has not even attempted to engage in the chat.

Bad Notification System

As a gatekeeper service, it should be of a top quality. The fact that checking your account everyday is the only way to make sure you see all the DMs is horrible. Their emailing system will send you all these jobs updates you don't need, but won't copy a DM on the day it arrives. It does 4-5 days later. I'm paying for this and I expect more.

Poor service and shoddy inertia selling tactics

I was given 'lifetime' free membership to the site as a former shareholding customer of an audition portal merged with Mandy. I had continued receiving casting emails for over 7 years now, but have not been actively working the past year. Having spotted something in my area that interested in me, I clicked to apply this week and discovered I could no longer do this, receiving a message saying I had to pay to upgrade to a new membership tier.

Believing this to be an error, I contacted customer service, who replied and said they will no longer be honouring the terms that previously applied. I responded and said I was concerned that my 'lifetime' membership was being withdrawn, given I am not dead. I pointed out that rolling people onto new contracts they don't want, with features they don't need, then trying to charge for things they've already received free is inertia selling, which is illegal under The Consumer Contracts (Information, Cancellation and Additional Charges) Regulations 2013.

The agent sent a sarcastic reply saying the "complimentary subscription was done only as a courtesy" but has "now come to a close".

This is a scam artist tactic. Lifetime clearly doesn't mean a thing to these people, who show none of the loyalty customers have given them—including investing in them at the outset. Over 20 years I was a member, 13 on the original site and 7 on Mandy. And now it is worthless.

I am notifying our union to put members on alert of this scam.

A waste of money and time

I had Mandy for a year, got some messages promising work and then never hearing anything again. A lot of the people posting are not trustworthy, and need to be vetted before being allowed onto the site.

Extremely Disappointing Experience – Poor Customer Support & No Accountability

I had a very disappointing experience with Mandy.com. After paying for their services, I reached out to support because I found the platform unintuitive and difficult to use. Instead of receiving helpful, constructive assistance, I was met (by Fabio) with an emotional and unprofessional response from their helpdesk.

Rather than resolving the issue or offering a refund or credit, they chose to keep my money and blocked further use of the service — essentially taking payment without delivering any value. The tone and behavior of the support team were petty and dismissive, which is unacceptable from a company that claims to serve industry professionals.

I would strongly advise others to be cautious before investing in this platform. There are better, more professional alternatives out there that actually respect and support their users.

Not recommended.

Mandy, like so many platforms now, is a total waste of time and money. I haven't received a single response in almost 2 years of applying and auditioning on this platform as an actor or voiceover artist. It's becoming increasingly spammy too. The jobs are either too vague to be worth applying for, or the pay offered (if any) is a joke. I'm now attempting to have my profile deleted, something that can only be done via an email request. I haven't received a reply to any of my emails to Mandy.

Not really a talent agency Just AI....

Registered last night and almost instantly began getting job offers from all over the world (unpaid) having nothing to do with my listed skill set or age. Just spam really.
And a refund? Forget it.

One year subscription, not even a single job offer

Unfortunately I paid for a whole year subscription and got absolutely nothing for it. I'm a film composer and there was simply not a single job offer, possibility, audition, nothing at all so I cancelled my subscription, of course. The worst part was filling in all the forms, creating a profile with my credits and all and Mandy kept on sending me these useless musical jobs like being in the cast of some lame musical. Absolutely awful. No interaction, no feedback, you don't ever hear from anyone, just no interest whatsoever in anything that isn't charging you. That was 100 quid completely down the drain. Money that could have been better invested elsewhere for sure.

I recently had the unfortunate experience of using the Mandy casting agency, and I feel compelled to share my thoughts. I give this app a single star due to a series of disappointing encounters that left me feeling frustrated and undervalued as a performer.

To begin with, the concept of "pay to play" is a major turn-off. I expected to invest in my career, but the lack of tangible results made me question whether my money was well spent. I canceled my subscription within the first month because the opportunities were just too few and far between.

When it comes to the recruitment process, it is almost laughable. The platform requires you to upload a cover letter, audition tape, and various images, yet the process feels cumbersome and disorganised. I found myself spending an inordinate amount of time preparing materials that, in my opinion, should have been streamlined. For a simple supporting artist (SA) role, I shouldn't have to jump through so many hoops.

Moreover, the quality of the job listings is lacking. Many roles seem to be either too niche or not aligned with my skills and experience. I often found myself scrolling through listings that were either irrelevant or poorly described, making it difficult to identify suitable opportunities.

Another issue is the lack of support from the agency. When I reached out with questions or for assistance, the responses were slow and unhelpful, leaving me feeling like just another number in their system rather than a valued client.

In summary, my experience with Mandy casting agency has been overwhelmingly negative. The combination of high costs, a convoluted application process, limited job opportunities, and poor customer support has led me to conclude that this platform is not worth your time or money. I would recommend exploring other casting agencies that prioritise their clients and offer a more user-friendly and efficient experience.

Save your time and resources—look elsewhere for your casting needs.

Worser still

The current state of StarNow, Backstage, and Mandy is nothing short of appalling for professional actors. These platforms, which once served as respectable resources for actors seeking legitimate work, have devolved into cesspools of exploitation and subpar opportunities. The decline in quality has been particularly noticeable since Backstage's takeover, with the situation deteriorating on an almost weekly basis. What was once a valuable tool for connecting talent with genuine opportunities has become a playground for those seeking to take advantage of aspiring actors and undermine the value of our craft.

Perhaps the most egregious aspect of these platforms is the insulting pay rates that have become commonplace. It's not uncommon to see roles being offered at a paltry £50 per day, barely enough to cover basic expenses, let alone provide a living wage. Even more outrageous are the "opportunities" that offer £200 for 15 days of work, which breaks down to an absurd £13.33 per day. This is far below minimum wage and shows a complete disregard for the time, effort, and skill that actors bring to their roles. Adding insult to injury, many jobs are advertised as paid positions, only for actors to discover that they're merely being offered expense reimbursement. Worse still, some roles are promoted with the promise of an IMDb credit as if that alone is sufficient compensation. These practices are not only unethical but also contribute to the devaluation of actors' work across the industry.

The bait-and-switch tactics employed by many listings on these platforms are particularly concerning. Aspiring actors, eager for their break in the industry, are lured in by promises of paid work, only to discover that the compensation is "expenses only" or, even more insultingly, just for "exposure." This deceptive practice preys on the enthusiasm and dedication of newcomers to the field, exploiting their passion and willingness to work hard for a chance at success. It's a manipulative approach that takes advantage of the dreams and aspirations of talented individuals, potentially discouraging them from pursuing their chosen career path.

What's particularly distressing is the rapid decline in the overall quality of listings and opportunities available on these platforms. Each week seems to bring new lows in terms of professionalism, legitimacy of projects, and adherence to industry standards. The platforms appear to have abandoned any commitment to maintaining a certain level of quality or protecting the interests of the actors who use their services. Instead, they seem content to act as passive intermediaries, allowing exploitative practices to flourish unchecked. This race to the bottom not only harms individual actors but also threatens to undermine the standards and practices of the entire industry.

It's high time that organizations like Equity and BECTU were made aware of this ongoing decline and the abysmal pay standards being promoted on these platforms. As professionals in the acting community, we have a responsibility to stand against these exploitative practices and fight for fair treatment and compensation. These platforms have transformed from useful tools into exploitative middlemen that devalue our craft and take advantage of those trying to break into the industry. Actors, especially those new to the field, deserve better than to be treated as disposable commodities. It's crucial that we raise awareness about these issues and encourage our colleagues to seek out legitimate agencies and casting calls that respect their talent, time, and professional worth.

In conclusion, StarNow, Backstage, and Mandy have become a blight on the acting community, actively harming the very people they claim to serve. Their practices normalize exploitation, undercut the value of actors' work, and create a toxic environment that threatens the integrity of our profession. It's imperative that we, as a community, take a stand against these platforms and the harmful practices they enable. By doing so, we can work towards creating a more equitable and respectful industry that values the contributions of actors at all levels of their careers. Only through collective action and a refusal to accept these substandard conditions can we hope to effect real change and restore dignity to our profession.

soulless company that isn't here to help creatives but charges to show you unpaid jobs

very faceless company, like talking to a robot when you're trying to message them for cutomer support as they offer no help.
Doesn't notify you properly when you receive offers/messages. Most of the work on offer is not paid or by self funded people so no chance of growth or proper experience in the industry.
Forgot i hadn't cancelled my subscription while I was away for a month so asked if I could move it to next month and they were very rude and unsympathetic about it. Even massive companies like amazon offer that basic service of human decency. Thanks for nothing. Will be spreading the word of this useless job site.

This was such a good website but not anymore!

This was such a good website site, straight forward and with many opportunities. Since they changed it to Mandy from stagejobs it is a constant waste of money. Always glitchy, can't add new jobs on my profile, and now that I decided to upgrade again because I saw some decent jobs for the first time in months I can't tell if my applications went through because this damn website just doesn't work properly anymore.
Never spending my money on them again!
