The Manus.Ai subscription trap

Firstly, I was quite impressed with the free trial. It didn't last long enough to finish the task I was doing. However, I thought the quality of responses was enough for what I wanted to achieve, so I upgraded to the next paid tier .
Big mistake . I'd be running a task, and my phone would ping . Another payment was automatically taken from my account, no verification, just taken straight out. This kept happening, so I tried to cancel the subscription. There genuinely isn't anywhere in billing and accounts to do this. After talking to the Gemini chatbot. It told me this was a common occurrence with Manus.AI and advised me, after trying several different methods (unsuccessfully) to delete the account. This was the only way to guarantee the end of recurring payments. I was reluctant as all the work I had done would be lost along with quite a substantial amount of cash. I cancelled. Since then i have found other dedicated AI's that do the job for a fraction of the cost

Engineered overcharging

I do not trust the Manus.ai. The way credits are being charged appears highly inconsistent and seems to change arbitrarily without any transparency.

I initially subscribed to the platform and ran a few tasks, and I must admit I was genuinely impressed with the quality of the results. However, I soon noticed that my monthly credit allocation had been almost completely depleted after running only a limited number of tasks.

In response, I upgraded to the next subscription tier, believing that the additional credits would comfortably last me for the remainder of the month.

That is when I experienced a major disappointment.

Only two days later, I attempted to set up a new task and was shocked to discover that I had no credits left. I then decided to investigate how the additional credits I had purchased were consumed, only to find that daily scheduled tasks which had previously been costing approximately 200 credits per run had suddenly increased to above 700 and, in some cases, 800 credits per run.

This was extremely disappointing. In my view, such unexplained and abrupt changes in credit consumption, without prior notice or transparency, feel deceptive and raise serious concerns about the platform’s billing practices. Frankly, it feels like a form of engineered overcharging, which I consider unacceptable.

If I could give zero stars, I would.

My experience with Manus AI has been one of the most frustrating customer service experiences I have ever encountered.

Since April 2026, I have experienced repeated issues with billing, account credits, subscriptions, and support requests. On multiple occasions I was told that my case would be escalated to a technical team, senior team, or management team, only for nothing to happen afterwards. I have spent months chasing responses and repeatedly explaining the same issues without receiving a satisfactory resolution.

The most concerning incident occurred when I purchased approximately 18,238 credits, costing around £60–£70. Within a short period afterwards, my subscription was allegedly downgraded from Pro to Basic and the credits disappeared from my account. Even the support agent I spoke with acknowledged that the situation appeared unusual and advised that the matter would be investigated. Despite this, I received no meaningful follow-up.

Communication has been extremely poor throughout. Emails often go unanswered, promised callbacks never happen, and support tickets appear to disappear into a black hole. Every interaction seems to end with assurances that someone will get back to me, but very rarely does anyone actually do so.

Adding to the frustration, I was recently asked to provide proof of payments made in April despite the account being linked to my email address and account ID. This has made the process feel unnecessarily difficult and has left me with very little confidence in Manus AI’s internal systems or customer support procedures.

I understand that technical problems can happen with any platform. What I cannot accept is months of unresolved issues, a lack of communication, and repeatedly having to chase for answers while money has been taken from my account.

At this point, my confidence in Manus AI has been seriously damaged. The technology itself may have potential, but customer service, billing support, and issue resolution have fallen far below what I would expect from a company taking customers’ money.

I am still seeking a full explanation and resolution regarding the missing credits, subscription changes, and payments taken from my account. Until these issues are properly addressed, I cannot recommend Manus AI to other customers.

Based on my experience, Manus AI needs significant improvements in customer support, billing transparency, complaint handling, and accountability when customers report serious account issues.

Llevo gastando más de 200 dólares en créditos y siempre que reclamo un reembolso según dicen que el reembolso se hizo a mi cuenta pero los créditos nunca aparecen creo que mi vida cambio desde que empezó a utilizar manus como buscarme una solución me busque un problema que ya me tiene desgastado mentalmente y lo peor que mi aplicación ya lleva bastante avanzado y me veo amarrado por de empezar de cero con otras opciones sería más tiempo y dinero y lo más peor aún que si quieres continuar usando tienes que actualizar el plan llegando a pagar el doble que pagaste la vez anterior yo creo que debemos reunir votos para cerrar manus ya que nos está desgracia do la vida

I am writing this review after a deeply frustrating experience with Manus AI that has caused measurable damage to my business operations.
​Initially, the platform showed promise, but it has proven to be entirely unreliable for commercial use. There is a complete lack of transparency regarding their credit/points consumption system. The platform drains credits at an exaggerated and unreasonable rate, even when taking into account the standard fair-use guidelines. Furthermore, server performance is noticeably slow, causing constant delays.
​The tipping point occurred on the very first day of my Google Ads marketing campaign. My account credits suddenly vanished without warning, causing my account to be canceled, the website to go down, and my entire automated workflow to freeze. This created immense pressure and issues for me in front of my own clients, completely disrupting my business delivery.
​To make matters worse, I decided to pay for a full 13-month annual subscription (Totaling 4,729.98 SAR across two transactions) to keep my work running. It has now been a week, and the subscription credits have STILL not been activated. While their automated AI support agent (Morgan) admitted in writing that they received the payment and acknowledged an internal synchronization glitch, the company has completely ignored my case. I have sent multiple urgent emails and support requests demanding human intervention to manually override the glitch, but I received zero response.
​Due to their total silence and complete lack of professional customer support, I was forced to move my entire website and workflow to a different server and developer to save my business.
​My final advice to anyone considering Manus AI: Do not trust this platform for your business. If you face a billing issue like I did, escalate it immediately through your bank or credit card provider for a formal chargeback (services not rendered), as their support team is completely non-existent.

I heard Manus was good so I tried to sign up and for some reason my account was immediately suspended. After a month of trying to contact support they ask me the same questions, then shuffle me to a new customer support person who asks me the same questions and I never get a single answer. Maybe their Platform is good once you get in, but I have yet to encounter any intelligence with their support staff. They haven't even told me why it's suspended.

Credits and usage drain so quickly it feels like Manus would need superhero powers to keep up. Spending a lot only to see credits vanish within hours—after all the recalibrations, settings tweaks, options, engagements, and interactions before Manus is even ready for autonomous execution—leaves nothing. Then there’s a 24+ hour wait for just 300 more credits each time. It’s like a pricey Rube Goldberg money trap. Not happy, not impressed, and definitely not recommending—a rough start for Meta Facebook AI and the Manus dev team, with only about 35% of functionality working before everything crashes and the credits disappear.

This is meta-scam!

Unclear description of how credit are used. I invested £150 worth of credits to create an app, the system used 40% to correct its own mistakes and did not finish with the task. It is like paying a plumber to fix a leaking, he does 50% of the job and leaves!! Wtf?
And, as everyone else complaints here.... customer support is the worst in the world. Your query is never responded!

Companies that betray trust rarely endure in the long run.

They have been reported for adding hidden and unauthorised charges. When customers raise these issues, they are often ignored or given the run-around with no resolution. Their 2.4/5 Trustpilot score reflects a clear pattern of poor customer care and lack of accountability.
As the Chinese proverb says: 人无信不立 (Rén wú xìn bù lì) — “A person (or business) without integrity cannot stand.”

Unexpected credit consumption and lack of transparency

I experienced a serious issue where the system executed tasks and consumed a large amount of credits without my approval, despite giving clear instructions that no credit‑consuming actions should run without my confirmation. I also provided the exact folder path from the start, yet the system ignored it and began scanning unrelated directories that I never authorized.

Support did not acknowledge the technical problem and offered only a partial gesture instead of addressing the root cause. This raised concerns about reliability, transparency, and how user instructions are handled. I eventually cancelled my subscription because I no longer felt confident that the system would respect my settings or prevent unexpected credit usage.

I hope the team takes this feedback seriously and improves the platform’s stability and accountability.

Manus misled me about hosting and billing practices

Manus misled me about how their hosting works. I told the Manus AI from the start that I wanted a no‑cost website, and it recommended hosting on GitHub for that reason. It never disclosed that the site would still be tied to a Manus subscription or that it would go offline if I ever canceled.

I let my subscription lapse because Manus would not allow me to downgrade without first paying for a higher subscription tier. The moment it expired, Manus took my site offline and replaced it with a message saying the author’s membership had expired — even though the AI told me GitHub hosting would avoid ongoing costs. Only afterward did Manus admit this is their policy and cannot be changed.

They also don’t let you buy AI credits. If you run out during a project, you’re forced to upgrade to a higher subscription. And when you try to downgrade later, they make you pay one more full month at the higher tier before allowing it.

Between the undisclosed hosting dependency, forced upgrades, and the extra month required to downgrade, the experience felt dishonest and intentionally opaque. Future customers deserve to know this upfront.

Manus AI – $2,380 in credits deleted without warning
I have been a long-term Manus customer spending up to $5,000 per month. In January 2026, I was forced to temporarily downgrade my plan due to unforeseen circumstances. When I returned to work in March, all of my credits — 476,000 credits worth $2,380 — had been completely deleted without any prior warning, notification, or explanation.
At no point during the purchase or downgrade process was it made clear that unused credits would be permanently deleted at the end of the billing cycle.
When I contacted support, I was simply told that monthly credits reset automatically. No refund, no restoration, no accountability.
This is not an isolated case. Multiple users on Reddit have reported identical experiences with thousands of dollars lost.
For a platform charging premium prices, the complete lack of transparency, the unresponsive support, and the silent deletion of paid credits is unacceptable. This is not how a legitimate business treats its customers.
Avoid Manus if you value your money.

Unable to cancel my subscription

I've been unable to cancel my subscription. I was supposed to have until today to do so, but I was already charged before I had the chance. This is extremely frustrating. I never had a proper opportunity to test the AI tool, so being billed before I could evaluate it—and then finding the cancellation process confusing or difficult—is very disappointing. Dan Martell, I didn't expect this from a company you promote.

Ich bin extrem enttäuscht von meiner Erfahrung mit Manus.

Meine gesamten Credits wurden durch technische Probleme (Sandbox-Fehler) aufgebraucht, ohne dass ich auch nur ansatzweise produktiv arbeiten konnte. Die App funktionierte nicht richtig, es gab massive Infrastruktur-Probleme und trotzdem liefen meine Credits einfach weiter.

Das Schlimmste daran: Ich habe keinerlei Lösung erhalten. Der Support hat auf meine Fragen entweder gar nicht oder völlig unzureichend reagiert. Es gab keine klare Stellungnahme, keine konkrete Hilfe und keine faire Kompensation.

Ich habe viel Zeit und Geld investiert und stehe nun ohne funktionierendes Projekt und ohne Credits da. So stellt man sich keinen professionellen Service vor.

Für mich war das eine absolut frustrierende Erfahrung. Unter diesen Umständen kann ich den Service nicht weiterempfehlen.

Nie wieder.

Tried using this on the base plan.Tech…

Tried using this on the base plan.Tech worked well however I blew past credits in 3 days.
I'm just playing around with this tech and not doing anything crazy...I'm running a business at the same time so not spending all day on it.
Based on the credits I used I would need to buy the $200 USD per month plan...
It's too expensive for me.
