We purchased 2 sofas & chair and had a few ongoing manufacturing faults with the sofas. Stuart could not have been more helpful to resolve the issue and then negotiate with the supplier for us to replace like for like or with a different brand we went for the latter and delighted with our choice.
You get what you pay for and we so got that on product and in abundance on service. Thank you Stuart for going above and beyond to ensure you had a very happy customer.

I was looking to buy a chair and phoned to talk to the store, they were super helpful and gave great advice. We arrived on the Saturday and were greeted but left to explore with no hard sell, just advice when we needed it. In the end we didn't buy anything despite being very tempted by a sofa I really didn't need!
The staff could not have been more helpful and I would happily return to purchase another time. 5 star service

The service from material things was excellent from the home visit, collection and return of my sofa, the staff were all very professional.

Carpets fitted throughout the home, came round measured, samples supplied to check colours etc. Old carpets removed, new carpets fitted plus furniture moved by said fitters. Fabulous service from start to finish.

What a wonderful find. After two and a bit weeks, Material Things collected, refurbished and recovered and redelivered our sofa set. It’s like brand new at 1/3 of the price of a similar quality new one. Thank you for such a great experience.

We have used Material Things for a number of years. We recently have had a patio awning fitted. Once again the company provided a first class service and a special mention for Bob, Keith and Simon who completed the work today. Thank you so much.

I can't recommend this company highly enough. We wanted to change the flooring throughout the downstairs of our house and from first visiting the showroom, to the finished floor, Malcolm the business owner and his team of fitters Steve and Max have been so helpful and knowledgeable. We even discovered an issue with our washing machine connection during the fitting and Steve the fitter purchased some new pipe and sorted this for us too. All our belongings that needed to be moved have been treated with care and respect, and everything has been left clean and tidy at the end of each day. First class service.

Absolutely delighted with my Grandma's wing back armchair that was returned to us today. Material Things have once again done a fantastic job! They recovered our old sofa over a year ago.
Andrew who comes to measure and quote is a pleasure to deal with.
I chose rather an expensive fabric that could have easily been ruined by an inexperienced cutter.
The chair looks stunning and is once again very comfortable. The team made a wonderful little bolster cushion as well.
The service is always excellent with timed furniture collection and delivery.
I notice a few negative reviews which I find totally unbelievable based on my own experience.

Within 2 weeks of collecting our much loved sofas and armchair, Material Things returned them beautifully reupholstered, looking and feeling like new. The skill of their craftsmen is exceptional and we are thrilled with our 'new' furniture. We would also like to mention Bob and Keith who took great care in delivering our sofas etc. We also had a new carpet and underlay fitted and Steve did an excellent job with this. A truly skilled team and we would definitely recommend Material Things.

Telephone call from Matt, in response to my review. I was asking for a further discount as a gesture of goodwill, because price was extremely high. Over £800 for curtain pole and curtains for a small bedroom window. This gentleman sounded very animated on the phone. Stated he wanted me to be “happy”. I explained that I was not. However he was not prepared to honour my request. Will not use or recommend this company again.

We have purchased made to measure curtains from Material Things and have to say the experience was outstanding from start to finish. Their range of samples is amazing and their professional staff were able to advise and help throughout. The standard of workmanship on the curtains was fantastic; the fitters professional and friendly. I cannot recommend Material Things highly enough. Must be the best in the South of England!

I recently purchased a carpet and had a sofa reupholstered with Material Things. There were defects with both.

The sofa was delivered with a visible defect on the arm. The Sales Director's explanation was that, 'the defect did not show up in the lighting of the workshop'. I suggested that perhaps they needed new lighting. The sofa had to be taken back for the defect to be rectified and I was without a sofa for three days.

My carpet was fitted very poorly which Material Things agreed with. They used a fitter chosen from Checkatrade, not a usual member of their team. I was not informed of this prior to the fitting. The fitter installed the underlay incorrectly, did not stretch the carpet in places or over stretched in other places and damaged my skirting board.

The carpet also had a manufacturer's fault on it, which after an independent assessor had examined the carpet, was replaced. In all it took 7 weeks to resolve. Some faults of the original fit were not identified until the carpet was lifted to be replaced and would have become apparent over time. Material Things wanted to use the same fitter to replace my carpet but I refused. Material Things have since informed me that they will not use this fitter again. I suggest you check with Material Things who will be fitting your carpet.

If you order carpet through Material Things, ask for a clear break down of price per square metre and cost of underlay which they order by the roll not the square metre. You can then compare more easily prices against other companies. Material things will give an overall quote not a broken down one.

Material Things also posted pictures on social media of my property taken in my house without asking my permission to do so. They did take the photos down when informed. Make sure the delivery team ask your permission to use photos for marketing purposes. The Sales Director told me the delivery are told to do this but they did not twice.

All my complaints have been dealt with and I was offered £250 refund which I reluctantly agreed to when I was told they could not go higher. I do not think think this offer reflected the amount of problems that I faced. I also negotiated a free roll of underlay.

In my opinion, I did not receive the 'outstanding service' that is claimed on the website. My experience was poor and did not reflect the cost of the service. Everything that could go wrong did go wrong. In discussions with the Sales Manager, he had an excuse for everything but I felt did not really address the total impact of all the things that destroyed my trust and opinion of this company.

I will not be using Material Things again.

Excellent service from Material Things. Beautiful curtains and cushions made for my lounge/dining room. From initial choice of materiel to fitting curtain poles and curtain hanging the whole experience was excellent. Jess was so helpful with advising on materials and coordinating the whole process . I will certainly be using Material Things again and wouldn’t hesitate to recommend.

We are so glad we found Material Things when looking for our new sofa and arm chairs. The customer service is first class and not at all pressurised.
Stuart and Kerry helped with their knowledge and insights of the Stressless range and helped us make the right choices around colour, material and size. The whole buying process was a pleasurable experience and this prompted us to also use them for our carpet , and we were ably assisted by Jess who is also currently helping us make the right choice of window dressing for the room.

I had 6 dining chairs recovered, i picked a heavily patterened fabric and was blown away with the quality of the work, every chair is identical, with perfect pattern matching.

Curtains made by Material Things are sadly a disappointment. In fairness the company have removed the bulky lining and changed the heading to my satisfaction. I feel I was not advised that the material I chose was going to crease badly and an alternative offered to me. The company has returned and steamed the curtains, but for the price of over £1k for bedroom curtains, i feel disappointed that I have to live with curtains I am not happy with. The curtains partly fell off the new track which appears cheap and flimsy. I had my old swish track and custom made curtains for 27 years with no problems and really regret this purchase. Apart from this I would like to add this company make the most wonderful suites.

We have had two rooms carpeted by Material Things. All their staff are very helpful and friendly.
It was nothing to do with Material Things but the second carpet had a problem - they dealt with it and it was all sorted out efficiently.
We plan to use Material Things for the rest of our house to be carpeted and other items we will need, e.g. shutter blinds.

We are now on our 3rd purchase from Material Things and every time the service and process has been top drawer. My parents back in the day and my sister always go back time and again. Special and grateful thanks go out to Matt whose professionalism and product knowledge goes beyond. We have just taken delivery of a reupholstered corner suite and footstool and it looks and feels brand new. So huge thank you to the whole team. May you be trading for many years to come.
