Having read another review here and the response to it, I have to ask the following:
Why would anyone wind up a solvent company, create an entirely new company, and then use the original company name?
That makes no sense.
One response speaks about a new, "overarching organization" (as though we were dealing with a multinational with five different bureaus) when there is only a single company involved.
Why was the original Medic Mentor not used as the "overarching organization"? Why was there any need for a new company at all?
The answer seems to lie with Companies House, which tells us that Medic Mentor Ltd has been declared insolvent, or as an anonymous Medic Mentor representative comically puts it "winding down". It appears to have been "wound down" because it went bust.
And I must ask in the circumstance, is Medic Mentor or its new "overarching" incarnation Mentorverse (trading as Medic Mentor) still soliciting fees for courses?

Medic Mentor (the brand) is owned by Mentorverse LTD and we can confirm that it is NOT in any debt, all staff salaries, pensions, invoices and refunds have all been paid and it is in a financially comfortable position. So if any students are thinking of joining us for our free or paid for programmes they can register with full confidence that everything is running smoothly, and students, parents and teachers have NOT experienced any interruption.
There has been a record number of companies going into administration this year and for a combination of reasons such as the pressures from COVID and the cost of living crisis to name a few; factors beyond anyone's control that have made for exceptionally difficult trading environments. All companies big and small were affected and the rules are the same for all. The purpose of the administration process is to protect the company and jobs, and thankfully because of the situation that Medic Mentor was in, this was achieved successfully, whilst many other organisations closed for good. Students, parents and staff love the Medic Mentor brand and therefore we decided to keep it, and because there is no reason why (legally) we should give it up (Medic Mentor LTD did NOT go into liquidation).
Throughout the process, we have ensured that our existing customers experienced no interruption to their programmes and all refunds have been honoured and will continue to be honoured by Mentorverse LTD.
As you are neither a member of staff nor a customer, you seem to have taken information available online and made assumptions based on your limited perspective in an attempt to scaremonger and cause panic. This is not a useful review about any of our services or programmes that would be valuable to new or existing students and parents. You have also referred to our organisation as 'tiny' in an attempt to belittle the admirable efforts of our Mentors and staff, when in fact we are technically a medium-sized enterprise that employs up to 500 members of staff at peak times across the year, and we teach tens of thousands of students every year.
If anyone is interested in joining Medic Mentor - now is the best time because the organisation is in a much stronger financial position and we always invite honest feedback so that we can continue to make improvements, meaning that our programmes get better each year! The best thing to do is to make an informed decision yourself, by experiencing a free programme because 1. it's free! 2. Everything is completely optional - there is no pressure to 'sign up' to anything and you can unsubscribe to our emails if you have changed your mind and you no longer want to participate. I found the UCAT Conference for Teachers and Advisers very thought-provoking and informative. I have since been able to share details of events for students with our advisers and the Careers Leads we work with in schools; I have found the offered events for students to be very well thought through and seem to be presented well to the students.

A very pushy company- I have unsubscribed 3 times and am still receiving emails several times a week. My daughter went on one of the Zoom conferences which was bizarre- I had to sit with her in sight the entire time ( ostensibly for ‘safeguarding’ which is nonsense- if that were true they could have turned their cameras off!).

Parents do not have to be present for most of our events, however if students want to attend the LIVE Get into Medicine Conference so that they have the chance to speak directly to doctors and medical students, then it is a necessary requirement because without parents present we cannot run the conference in a professional and safe manner. Otherwise, we need to limit the interactive components (giving students the chance to unmute their microphones and speak to mentors directly, or post comments in the chat bot to interact with other students), and that would diminish the experience for the majority of the audience who are happy to participate and follow the rules. The conference is an excellent opportunity for students to interact and speak with doctors, which is an important part of the admissions process. We have tried to run these conferences without parents in the past, however it was not possible to do this in a safe and professional way, whilst maintaining all of the interactive elements. We really appreciate parents who take the time to attend with their students, because it is a valuable opportunity and we include a lot of information that is specific to parents on how they can best support their students' applications. If students or parents are struggling to attend together, they are very welcome to access the E-learning recording of the conference instead, if the student just wants access to the information. We recommend attending the LIVE event wherever possible, because many students have fed back that they have used the experience to discuss at interview and write about in their personal statements too. Speaking to doctors and medical students can be a very valuable aspect of making an informed decision about the career, as well as developing 'insight into medicine', which is a scored component of the application process. Service not provided and no refund given
I Paid for a virtual work experience day for my daughter. Filled out the student form as required etc. The money was taken from my credit card but no link or other joining instructions to were ever sent to us to enable my daughter to access the event. This was despite me sending several messages to Customer Service on their website and emailing them, asking for the link/joining instructions These messages were not replied to and the link never came. I checked the spam and trash folders of both my email account and my daughter's, in addition to the main inboxes, every day. The link/joining instructions information was not received in any of these.
After the day set for the work experience I requested a refund by sending a message to Customer Service on their website. Once again this message was never replied to. I am aware from another parent that they did reply to a message he made enquiring about their services during this time. It was therefore not the case that there was no one working at Customer Services. My message was deliberately ignored. A refund was not made to me as requested. I therefore passed the matter on to my credit card company who looked into the matter and reimbursed me with the money. Beware of this company as they are not reliable and appear to have absolutely no scruples. If it was possible to give no stars I would.

There has clearly been some miscommunication because as you mentioned, our team are very dedicated to replying to phone calls and contact forms from customers - they respond to 100s every day! We suspect that one of 2 things may have happened:
1. You may have incorrectly typed in your email address when you made the order, and so you didn't receive the joining instructions
2. You could have unsubscribed to our emails at some point which meant that you were not able to receive any replies from us to your messages.
Unfortunately, from this post we cannot investigate the issue any further because we would need your order number and more details. If you can provide this we would be happy to look into this further and provide you with a refund for your booking.

Took our money but no link or any communication?
Is this a scam? Paid for virtual mentoring session but never received a link and also now unable to log into "my account" on their website? I checked my bank and they definitely took the money, but no confirmation email, no link, no access to the account and even a password reset request doesn't trigger a response to either the parent email or the student email. The information about medic mentor came from the college so I assumed it must be OK?

It is confusing because we do not have 'virtual mentoring sessions' that you can pay for... The best and most effective way to communicate with us is via our contact form or via phone. If you can provide us with your name and order number we can very quickly look into this for you. It sounds as though you may have entered your email address incorrectly when you placed the order with us, and that is why you have not received the joining instructions. Alternatively, our messages may be landing in your junk or spam folders. In either case, we can get this rectified for you or assist with a refund if you prefer. We can assure you that Medic Mentor is very real involving thousands of mentors and 10s of thousands of students use our programmes every year!
AVOID THIS COMPANY
Daughter attended a conference, and despite having her camera on, they insisted on having a parent or guardian present for the entire duration of the conference, which lasted 6 hours. Unfortunately, I couldn't attend the session, so they removed my daughter from the meeting. I find it concerning that this so-called 'not-for-profit' organisation expects parents or guardians to be present throughout the entire call, especially considering that it is the children who will be applying to medicine/dentistry/vet courses. Parents won't be there sitting next to their child on interview day or filling out their UCAS application! I strongly recommend avoiding this organisation at all costs!

Thank you for sharing your experience and highlighting the issues with parents needing to be present. Parents do not need to present for most of our programmes, but for the LIVE Get into Medicine conference, it compulsory to have a parent or guardian present because we want to run the event as an immersive super interactive opportunity for students to network where they can meet and speak directly to doctors and medical students. This is because it helps students to develop an 'insight into medicine', which is a scored component of the application process and it helps them to make an informed decision about pursuing a career as a doctor. As you can imagine, running a zoom conference for hundreds of individuals presents unique challenges and we have to ensure that those that do participate have a pleasant, uninterrupted and safe experience online. We have tried running these events, without parents and it has been impossible to maintain the wonderful interactive elements without being interrupted or experiencing unprofessionalism by a small minority of attendees. You are completely right that ultimately students have to attend their interviews and sit the UCAT exam alone. However, parents are incredible mentors and have a lot to contribute by way of supporting students on this sometimes stressful journey. We have met many parents over the years who are happy to read personal statements, attend open days, do interview practice at home and even act as UCAT study partners. These parents often feel grateful to have the opportunity to sit with their students during a conference where they can learn about the application process in detail, because it empowers them to provide as much support as they can to their students. But everyone is different, and it really just comes down to personal preference. With this in mind, we do have alternative ways to access resources too, where they can attend/work through independently such as:

They have an appalling service
They have an appalling service! I have been trying to get into contact with them about receiving certificates for doing 6 work experience sessions for 6 months and I haven’t received a certificate. I have also attended 3, all-day long medical leadership days and I haven’t received any certificates. I have called them numerous times at regular intervals, have sent numerous emails, have used the air table and I have had not one reply or no one answer the phone! It is absurd the amount of time I’ve dedicated into this company and they have such an awful service. How can no one in a company answer a phone for days on end? Also I applied for the summer school and decided not to go anymore and requested for a refund within the time frame they require. I still have not received £1 from them! It is absolutely disgusting! Do not use them! You’re just wasting your time with these crooks!

Some students have been offered Uni places based on their strong personal statements including the MM attendance of conferences and work experience. Their presenters (doctors and specialists) are passionate about supporting young people into the medical profession and helping them to navigate the application process. Overpriced and most of it is not even needed. Difficult to contact. You have to fill in a form on an ‘air table ‘ and nobody seems bothered to get back. For 2000£ paid it’s a useless service and not worth it. You can do UCAT on other sites like Medify and medic portal much cheaper and with a much better service . Summer school is a waste of time and interview dates were not enough so my son was given one after his actual interview. Don’t wSte your time and money . Most of the teachers are

Our Chief Mentors (doctors) are on hand during this time to answer any questions you might have and also conduct 1:1s with students and/or parents who have any concerns.
We raised concerns about the student's engagement back in September 2022 as we also felt they were not making the most of all the teaching and mentoring available to them, however we did not hear back and so were unable to facilitate any additional support.

Notified them in late Feb, but as its less than the 6 month to the Summer school in July there are no refunds. 2900 GBP gone.
Very unprofessional and seems like a scam ... this is not a small 250 GBP deposit !

Unfortunately your cancellation did fall outside of the refund window. We are unable to offer refunds within 6 months of the Summer School, since accommodation and venues, resources and mentors have been paid for and as you can imagine this is very expensive. It is for this reason, that we always tell students not to panic book and only register if you are certain that you want to pursue medicine or dentistry.
We do have options that might be beneficial to you, as I'm keen to help if I can. We have virtual Summer Schools running this summer and we can also defer the Summer School place to 2024.

Medic Mentor is amazing!
Medic Mentor is an amazing organisation! The chief mentors and scholars are incredibly helpful and supportive for interested students. They provide immense support through various resources for aspiring healthcare students (medicine, dentistry, veterinary and allied healthcare), many of which are free.
With virtual Work Experience, Virtual Medical Societies, Essay and Art competitions and even some podcasts, Medic Mentor provides a multitude of ways to help students participate in a wide, welcoming community of students around the world.
The Summer School package also provides invaluable guidance for writing personal statements, preparing for entrance exams like UCAT and BMAT, and for interview practice sessions too.
Medic Mentor has a great team of aspiring students, current University students and doctors who work together to improve each other's skills so that the next generation of healthcare professionals are equipped to innovate and make change.

Medic Mentor is INCREDIBLE!!
I have had the most amazing experiences with Medic Mentor. I became involved with this organisation back in 2018 when I was in year 12 and exploring the career pathways available to me. I decided that I wanted to become a vet and I felt very overwhelmed with this since I had not done any work experience and I had no idea where to start.
I went to a conference for veterinary students, now called the Get Into Veterinary Conference, with my dad which was invaluable to us. I learnt so much information that I otherwise would not have had access to. After this conference I had a clear plan of what I needed to do in order to achieve my dream. I went home and booked my work experience and then went on the write for the Medic Mentor magazine, meaning I had my work published in a national magazine.
I also attended the Medic Mentor summer school in 2019 where I was supported to write a brilliant personal statement that to this day I am still very proud of. I also received interview practice which made me feel confident in myself and allowed me to identify any weaknesses I had. Medic Mentor supported me greatly throughout my vet school application and I received 4/4 offers from the universities I had applied to!
I am now a 3rd year veterianry student and have been on the scholarship programme with Medic Mentor since I started university. This programme allows me to earn some money whilst at university so that I do not need to worry about getting a part time job, but, more importantly, I have developed so many skills that without this programme, I would not have. I co-host a veterinary podcast called 'So You Want To Be A Vet?' where I have worked with many different vets with a variety of backgrounds. I have mentored at the summer school, helping other aspiring veterinary students to be successful in their applications. I have given countless presentations, developing my confidence and public speaking.
I am so grateful to have had the opportunities that I have had with Medic Mentor as I do not think I would be such a confident, pro-active veterinary student today without them. I also really look forward to my future with them as I continue to grow and develop on both a professional and personal level. The Medic Mentor staff are always happy to help you with whatever you might need and it is a great reassurance to know that I have such a huge support network available to me, whenever I might need it.
I couldn't recommend Medic Mentor enough. It is an organisation that I am proud to be a part of and the work they do is truly inspiring.
