Metropolitan Movers Avis 

I hired Metropolitan movers 2 months ago for my move on July 20th 2017.
On the 19th I was told they would arrive between 9-10 am. On the 20th at 9:50 am they called to say it would be between 11-12. I called customer service to ask why & was told they put another move in first. I told the agent that he should change the recording that says 100% satisfaction & stress free move he said that was only my opinion. He was the most un professional customers service agent and had a very cocky attitude. at 12:15 still no movers so I called and asked to speak to the customer service manager it was the same person I spoke to the first time he was the manager. I asked to speak to his boss & was told his boss dose not take calls so I asked for his name, he refused to give me his bosses name. I told him I was not happy with the service & I would not write a favourable review his attitude was that that was my choice & he really did not care. Not once did anyone from customer service ever apologise for the inconvenience. The movers finally showed up at 1:50 pm thank god they were professional & polite. It was the only redeeming quality of this company. Once this company had my credit card info. they held us hostage & did not care about customer service at all I was told if I cancelled they would charge a minimum of $150.00.
I would never recommend this company again

These people are a phenomenal level of unprofessional. I absolutely will not recommend this company especially if you are in the Halifax region. They didn't bother wrapping up any of my furniture and promptly proceeded to keep bashing it against several surfaces. I had to plead with then to assemble any furniture despite the fact that they hadn't even worked for the three hour minimum that they bill you for. The highlight of the move was when I pointed out the extensive damage to a very expensive table. They took pictures and the head of the Halifax branch promised me that he has gone down to my furniture company and personally ordered the identical table. He will have it delivered within a week. It's been well over a month and he refuses to answer my calls and I certainly don't have a table. The real kicker is the company hasn't even sold the table in over two years. Upon calling Metropolitan movers, they initially told me to deal with it directly with my mover and now they claim my complaint has expired. My biggest regret is not blocking the credit card payment as soon I saw the damages.

Working with these movers was a great experience. My moving team was punctual, proactive with communication, professional, and extremely efficient. They showed up on-time, and finished under-budget.

I recently used them and I must say I was very satisfied with their services. They are very professional and organized. The price they quote to you is exactly what you get. The team who handled my move were excellent. They were courteous and made sure all went well with my move. If you’re looking for a good moving company, this is the excellent one.

Just what you want in a move. Accurate estimate, no damage, efficient and friendly service. No surprises.

They were professional and showed up early. Took care of the whole parking permit situation ahead of time and that alone was worth the cost. Despite them moving me out of a 5th floor walkup with a tiny staircase they were efficient and friendly the whole time. Guys were friendly, smart and most importantly honest. I would definitely use them again if I ever needed a mover.

We have used Metropolitan movers twice in a year. It was a no brainer to call them again for our second move. They helped to set us up both times and is efficient and professional. He set us up with all of the bins and boxes each time and was helpful in setting up the number of boxes and containers. They were efficient but careful. The team was very detail oriented in both the move out and move in process.

From the start it was a pleasure doing business with Metropolitan Movers. They are very reasonably priced and guide me through the process. The collection and delivery was outstanding .I am very happy from their services Highly recommend.

Just like you, I read about Metropolitan Movers right after I had booked them on March 22nd for an April 1st move. I though the negative reviews here were just exaggerations but I can now confidently advice you to stay away from this company and hire any other movers in Toronto, even if they are more expensive. Here is my story which explains why.

March 22nd
- I submit a request for quote to MM (Metropolitan Movers) and get a call back to discuss pricing. Pricing is very attractive so I tell them I will confirm within the next few days

March 23rd
- After receiving quotes from other movers I call back on March 23 to confirm my order. My order gets scheduled for April 1st at 9AM.

March 29th (If I remember correctly)
- I call MM to once again confirm my move date for April 1st at 9AM.

April 1st
- 9AM: Truck is nowhere to be seen. I call MM and I am not able to get a hold of someone until 9:15AM after calling several times. At this point I am told for the first time since I originally contacted them that the truck has a 1hr window to show up, so it might be until 10AM before they show up. This would have been nice to know beforehand. I decide to wait, with all my things packed up. I am in a rush since the new tenants are moving later on the same day.

-10AM: Truck is still not at my apartment so I call MM. They tell me they don't know anything about the truck and will call them to then call me and tell me what's going on. They call me back 10 mins after to tell me the truck broke down. WHY DO I HAVE TO CALL THEM TO GET THIS INFORMATION? WHY DON'T THEY CALL ME TO UPDATE ME ON THIS IN THE FIRST PLACE?

They tell me they can get another truck... between 1PM to 3PM. That's a 4 hour delay minimum. I ask if I would get a discount for the inconvenience and they said that THE MAX DISCOUNT THEY CAN GIVE UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES IS 5%. This is such a spit in the face to their customers. They can put you through all amounts of stress, fail to update you, delay your trip and still only give you a 5% discount (Which they WILL NOT offer to you, I had to ask for it).

A this point I go online and start calling other moving companies. I luckily managed to find a company who was willing to do the move for me last minute (In & Out Movers, AMAZING GUYS, totally saved my life that day). I load up my truck and off I go to my new apartment.

1PM: After all the delays caused by MM, I am finally on my way to my new apartment and get a call from another moving company saying that they got a call from MM asking them if they could do my move. THIS MEANS MM WAS STILL NOT WILLING TO DO MY MOVE AND WAS SHOPPING IT AROUND TO OTHER MOVING COMPANIES. This goes to show how little they care about their customers when after everything that happened they were still NOT WILLING to do my move themselves. Absolute disrespect and lack of business ethics.

I explain this to the moving company that's calling me and they actually sided with me and told me to go online and write about my negative experience with MM.

Please save yourself the stress and do not hire MM. They might not even show up.

I am shocked at how business practices like this are legal in Toronto.

Moving is stressful at the best time and therefore anything that can be done to ease the burden of moving is beneficial. Metropolitan movers allowed me to quickly compare the cost of different removal companies by entering only a few simple details. This allowed me to ensure that I got a good deal without having to spend valuable time ringing different companies for their quotes.
I would definitely use this service again

I was communicated to throughout the whole move. These guys worked so hard in the heat and humidity and they all had smiles on their face the entire time. They did exactly what i needed done and these items where very heavy and awkward to move. They made it look easy. I've used Metropolitan Movers 3 times now and have always been extremely satisfied. I will continue to use this Company for any future moves and or recommendations

They were able to complete the move in less than projected time due to their level of efficiency. They were super-careful with all of my fragile items and when wrapping / packing any items. However they broke one item mistakenly. Anyways, they have very reasonable prices. Would highly recommend and will use again!

These guys gave a great dealing were very careful with all my staff; I was a bit stressed about the whole moving thing, and they made it all cool and easy. These movers know what they're doing, so thank you guys! They worked really quick- They really know what they're doing. I would definitely recommend the guys and the company for any move.

Downsizing from a 1700 sq.ft. home after 14 years of accumulated stuff. Lots of furniture and books, heavy items like treadmill and Bowflex machine. They were champions at figuring how to fit large items down smaller staircase with a turn at the bottom. Nothing got broken! i totally recommend.
