I also understood that new flooring and repainting would be included, but that was not clearly shown in the paperwork I received. Because I did not get the clarification and follow-up I needed, I chose not to move forward.”

I recently hired M&D Construction for a full renovation of my downstairs flooring and some kitchen updates. From the very start, their team was responsive, communicated clearly, and kept everything on schedule. The workmanship exceeded my expectations, the crew respected my home and left it spotless, and I’m extremely happy with the final result — I would highly recommend them.

We hired M & D Construction to repair our roof after a hurricane came through. Initially they were prompt and provided information quickly. The roof was repaired but I’ve had to call them back a few times because of leaks. My wife and I decided to add a screened porch. I called M & D Construction, their estimator came out and then sent a quote. I went by their office and gave them an $8,000 required deposit. The secretary informed me that someone would notify me when the construction would start after their Monday meeting. However, they were slow in getting back with us or scheduling our work. When I contacted them, they placed blame on others in company, this person and that person was supposed to call you. I sent a text message to the estimator and one to the secretary. We were finally contacted by the estimator to let us know someone would contact us. This supposed contact was to once again to let us know the date of construction, he then started to scold me as if I was his child about contacting others in his company, this is where the nice guy in me was gone and I reminded this employee that I was the client paying for this job. I was to be called on Monday for the date requested and this was Wednesday, the next morning I went by M & D Construction’s office where upon a request for a refund of my $8,000 deposit was told it would be the following Monday when I could get it. Today is that Monday, I called about my refund and was told once again it would take several days for my refund to be processed. I feel at this point that this company is earning interest on my funds so with no recourse I will contact the Better Business Bureau and the NC State Attorney’s Office….You would think with the state of our economy this company would do all it could to better serve their clients. I would not recommend M & D Construction and will not hire them ever again.

It’s been 2 months since the folks at M&D Construction replaced 17 windows and 2 doors at my home. We were very pleased with the experience. The house is quieter, warmer and cooler, with a lower electric bill, and has withstood torrential rain and wind with no leaks. Also, it looks great.
Starting the project, I received 5 other estimates for window companies and other contractors, and found that they were very non-specific about what products they would install. They also told me it would take at least 4 weeks to get the windows. Who would buy something without knowing what it was and exactly what it looked like?
The other companies couldn’t tell me a brand or point me to an online data sheet for R values.
The other companies were also, at a minimum, THREE THOUSAND DOLLARS HIGHER than M&D Construction (the highest company was 6k over).

M&D was ready in 2 weeks, but willing to wait for me to get things straightened up and move things around.
We have animals and I asked that the staff be mindful of that while working.
They were.
M&D completed the job in 2 days (including cleanup).
Needless to say, but M&D has become my go-to for construction and any home improvement projects.
Ruben and his team have my full confidence.
