April and the technical support team are fantastic. We've had a great experience using Monnit's solutions for our condition monitoring needs. The setup was straightforward, and their advanced configuration allowed us to fine-tune performance for our specific equipment.

Most impressive has been their customer support — knowledgeable, responsive, and genuinely invested in helping us succeed with predictive maintenance.

Excellent equipment, value and features, lags on usability

The sensors and devices are excellent and very cost effective, been using them for 10 years. Industrial and AA sensors are solid and the switch to a button with status light is a game changer on industrial. Some sensors are fairly expensive.
The software is functional but a little too distributed and you have to go all over to get tasks done and most people find it non-linear and don't know what to do first. Also the lack of a live dashboard is disappointing. There's a lot of options and it has significantly more features than most comparable systems, especially for the price. Alert logic is pretty strong but lacks ability to do multi step logic. Support is generally helpful and a number of agents are stellar. My rep April is always helpful and reachable.
The real negatives are the lack of an installable app (web app confuses people), confusing push alert setup, cost of text alerts, forced login every time open app/website, buggy 2-factor, a real negative if 2-factor is forced upon all (farm temperatures are NOT a security risk haha), no live dashboard upon login with no way to quickly see live sensor data making it a chore to do a quick check, and adding sensors has too many useless steps that waste time if you don't know you can skip. A major long term draw back is they don't really support sensor repair beyond 2-3 years. Repair is generally cost effective if they have the parts but I've had to toss many sensors that needed simple repairs that were only 3 years old due to poor planning for future repair. ALTA Coin cell sensors just aren't as reliable as the Gen 1 was, battery life is worse and compared to the only slightly more expense AA they are a bad value, don't do it! AA are awesome.

Monnit as a Temperature Solution (Very Good)

The devices are reasonably priced, functional and the web app is straightforward to use and configurable. The web page is a good reference along with their sales staff. I have been privileged with working with April Gould for the last few years and have been always treated phenomenally - their customer support team fields and responds to tickets quickly and provides good information when issues arise.

I’ve been using Monnit for temperature monitoring, and the system has been consistently reliable and easy to manage. The data integrity, alerts, and overall platform performance are exactly what you want in a monitoring solution.

Good product, bad support and service

I worked as a reliability engineer for a multinational company where we had a lot of mobile equipment that had gearboxes with long lead times, and dust collectors that if they were shut down we had a lot of downtime.

We purchased Monnit sensors as they were cheap and the UI in the site was easy to navigate.

The product worked as intended, and we even purchased air monitoring units that while they died much faster they were phenomenal.

The problem was their technical support and costumer service. On the phone they were nice, but via email the person that replied was a smartass. Rude, condescending, and never helped. Would always tell you they couldn't help you but that they were "Smarter" than you. Would never even do as little as help you troubleshoot.

The sensors are sentitive, but they are very cheap. Granted, I was trying to troubleshoot why they kept ripping, I wasn't even accusing the product of being bad, I just wanted support to see what caused the sensor to be destroyed.

This man, apart from insulting us and being useless, when we told them "You need to be professional, we are not going to do business with you otherwise" replied in less than one minute.

Gave us a response from Chat GPT saying how sorry he was and citing their own troubleshooting guide. Extremely disrespectful.

Go with someone else if you want costumer service and technical support.

First, thank you for recognizing that the sensors worked well. Your trust was earned on the product side, and it should have been matched with equally strong technical support and customer service.

You were doing exactly what a good reliability engineer does: trying to understand why sensors were being damaged so you could prevent further failures and downtime. That should have triggered collaborative problem-solving, not defensiveness.

You were also clear about expectations—“be professional, or we won’t continue doing business”—and that should have been a moment for the representative to slow down, own the issue, and repair the relationship.

Products are well made but...

Products are well made but. Customer support is poor. Billiing dept is outright hostile. When subscriptions expire, they continue to charge vs terminate so then they send threatening emails demanding payment. VERY poor customer care. Exceptional arrogance for middling company.

Unreliable and poor customer service in the UK

There are clearly reliability issues with these Monnit ALTA products, but worse still is the poor after-sales service (from my experience with the UK retailer - see the Trustpilot review for wireless-sensors.co.uk in the UK).

Monnit reputation is being let down by this retailer and the review would have been so positive if they'd handled it properly.

I purchased Monnit ALTA sensors and gateway from Wireless-sensors UK/Measurement Systems Ltd (Datanamics) in the UK. They are agent/retailers for the Monnit range.

I've been a Monnit and Wireless Sensors UK customer now for over 7 years. I use the sensors on my boat to monitor it remotely. Despite claims of durability etc., my experience of the reliability and particularly the after-sales service (in the UK) has been negative.

I bought an ALTA AA Monnit water detect sensor in July 2023, which failed after only 14 months despite being operated within the specified operating range of temperature etc. The UK retailer acknowledged it was faulty and told me it couldn't be repaired, but when I sought a repair or replacement or a full or partial refund under the 6 year protection described in the UK Consumer Rights Act 2015, they refused and told me to just buy another one for more money than the original cost and referred to the 12 month warranty.

Product information about the Monnit ALTA range on the site gives the impression that these are quality products offering many years of expected life. These are expensive sensors described as "enterprise grade" with battery life of "10 years plus" and designed for operation in environments which include boats. I had an earlier failure with a Monnit gateway and had to buy that one again too.

When these sensors work, they work well, but I'm really disappointed by how they respond when their products fail. I understand that things can fail, but I think Monnit are really being let down by Wireless-sensors UK and their customer care.

What I expected was a response like "sorry, we'll arrange a repair", or "sorry, we'll give a you a 50% refund as it is unusual for it to have failed in just 14 months". All I got was that I needed to buy it again for more money.

I'm hoping Wireless-sensors UK and/or Monnit will eventually provide a better response once they've read the UK Consumer Rights Act 2015. In fairness to both companies, I'll delete or update this review if there's a more positive update.

Already paid for itself

My Monnit system has already paid for itself. I've only had the system installed for a little over a month. Last Sunday I got a high temperature notification for one of my freezers. I stopped by our store and someone had forgot to close the walk-in. I was able to save thousands of dollars in potential lost product!

Bring back Classic Dashboard

My first review was 5 stars, dropping to 1 star now. After 10+ years of great service, the company went down the tubes. The classic dashboard was the best and I was able to use it until recently we are forced to use the new one. So cumbersome, before we'd be able to see what we needed within a few seconds, now everything is out order and you have to go through buttons, menu's for each sensor that it makes it a bad experience.

I know some customers want all the fancy buttons, but many customers that have been loyal for so many years just want a basic classic view. You have the data, all you need is to create a second interface.

Spoke to the tech department about it and the guy told me that several other customers complained about the classic view disappearing but there are no plans to bring it back. I asked to report my concerns to higher up decision makers and he said no one is currently interested in bringing the classic view back.

Its just something I don't understand, you have customers complaining and your answer is that you don't care. Well if you don't care, then I guess I should stop being loyal and start looking for an alternative.

Does not work as advertised

We have about 20k worth of Monnit sensors installed at a large cold storage facility. We have 44 sensors installed throughout the facility none of which are more than 150ft from the gateway. We have never gotten better than 30 sensors checking in at a time. We have worked with technical support multiple times to try to address this. We have pulled all the sensors, re-oreinted them, installed special antena. Again and again Monnit tells us that their equipment "just works" and that we must be doing something wrong. We have probably put $10k worth of labor into pulling sensors in and out of the freezer to try to get them to work. It's hopeless. They just don't work as well as advertised and Monnit refuses to admit it.

Ordered two sensors now waiting 3 weeks for them to ship and chat person tells me to use a rep next time.
So even though you can buy it directly from the web site they want you to go through a rep whoever that is.

Customer service = OUTSTANDING

I can speak extremely highly of the customer service. I used the chat feature and have been communicating with a representative for several weeks now. Any question I have, this rep has been extremely helpful and positive. I have never had such a positive experience with customer service before. They were not just good, they were amazing.

Great support

I have not used the system myself but everything I heard from our food and beverage team is positive, I am an I.T. Tech and we had some issues setting the device up and camillab was a fantastic support, really appreciate the support that was given!

I have been a user of an iMonnit sensor…

I have been a user of an iMonnit sensor for over 8 years now and I am sure I use it unlike most users. My wife and I travel in our motor home and we've used the sensor to monitor the temperature inside our motor home whenever we left our dog behind to insure she was always in a safe temperature. On more than one occasion we returned after an alarm due to loss of electricity (and a/c) to our coach. Unfortunately our dog passed away recently so we no longer require the sensor. As I let our account lapse, I felt the need to leave this reply. On several occasions over the years I needed to contact support for assistance. Sometimes things changed, Sometimes I just couldn't remember some basic steps to set things up. In every single case, I was treated promptly and with great patience as my issues were always resolved. I can't thank the support personnel enough for their assistance over the years. It has been a pleasure doing business with you all. Thank you!!
