MTS doesn’t treat your belongings with care, and denies repair after previously promising it
I deeply regret choosing MTS. I paid a substantial extra fee for MTS to move my upright piano along with my other belongings, enough that it rivaled hiring a dedicated piano mover. I was assured it would be packed and handled safely.
Our piano arrived damaged. After I reported the damage, multiple MTS representatives repeatedly promised me the company would pay for the piano's repair. I spent weeks following up and found piano repair specialists for MTS because they repeatedly claimed they couldn’t find anyone themselves. Specialists I consulted described the damage as severe and not merely cosmetic as exposed wood can warp or crack and affect playability.
After a month, I received news that MTS fully denied to help with the repair because they consider it “cosmetic only”. After I pushed back, they made a final offer of 20% of the repair estimate (equivalent to less than 15% of the price I paid to move the piano), and conditional on signing away all claims, and which included line not allowing me to “publish anything defamatory."
Additionally, we experienced several other issues:
1. The piano arrived several days late. The crew did not bring enough personnel to move it into our home safely, resulting in our piano being repeatedly loaded and unloaded during other people's moves on the same truck.
2. The company required full payment prior to loading, which as I understand is a moving company red flag.
3. I had to stop a mover from using a dolly on our interior wooden stairs. Thankfully no damage occurred.
I paid premium prices and am left with a damaged piano and a settlement offer that doesn't even come close to the repair cost. Based on my experience, MTS Moving does not take care of your belongings or honor their commitments. I do not recommend them.
