We are currently awaiting a response from this customer so that we can fully resolve this matter. Unfortunately, we have not received a reply to our last two emails.

The delay to orders was caused by an unprecedented and prolonged heatwave both in the UK and across parts of the EU, where much of our liquorice is manufactured. This particularly affected our chocolate-covered liquorice products, but the resulting supply chain delays unfortunately had an impact on other orders as well.

Throughout this period, we sent several emails to customers explaining the situation and offering our sincere apologies for the delays. As an additional gesture of goodwill, many customers also received a complimentary pack of liquorice.

We would welcome the opportunity to resolve this issue as soon as we receive a response from the customer - if we have omitted a bag in error then we will certainly resolve this asap

We're sorry to hear that you didn't feel our products offered good value for money, especially as you have ordered with us on more than one occasion. We completely understand that price is an important consideration and appreciate that different customers have different budgets and preferences.

Our focus has always been on sourcing premium-quality liquorice from some of Europe's best manufacturers, where liquorice has a long tradition and reputation for quality. We also aim to offer one of the widest selections available in the UK, with many varieties that are difficult to find elsewhere.

Whilst we may not always be the cheapest, we do strive to offer products that we believe are exceptional in terms of quality, flavour and choice.

We are very sorry that your order was delayed and that you were given more than one expected delivery date. We completely understand how frustrating this must have been.

Unfortunately, the delay in receiving our chocolate stock was outside of our control. Despite regularly chasing updates on the shipment, we were unable to get a reliable delivery date from our suppliers and transport providers. We appreciate that this made the changing estimated dates particularly frustrating, and we sincerely apologise.

We are pleased to confirm that the delayed stock arrived yesterday and your order has now been dispatched and is on its way to you as of yesterday too. We have also included a small free gift as a gesture of our appreciation for your patience.

Our normal service is to dispatch around 99% of orders received before 2pm on the same working day, so we are genuinely sorry that, on this occasion, we have fallen short of the service we aim to provide.

We would also like to take this opportunity to thank all of our customers for their patience and understanding during this particularly difficult period. As a small independent business, unexpected supply delays can have a significant impact on us, and we genuinely appreciate the continued support and patience of our customers.

Thank you for your feedback on a mixed bag of liquorice.

We did ask for your order details so that we could contact you directly and look into this further, but unfortunately no details were supplied, so we have been unable to investigate the issue or identify which order this relates to.

As this appears to be feedback about a particular bag of liquorice rather than our company as a whole, product reviews can also be left directly on our website to help other customers choose what best suits their taste. That may be the most appropriate place for this review.

Our sweets are sold by weight, with pack sizes clearly stated on the website, usually 200g or 500g, and our bags are never below weight.

We’re sorry that this particular mix was not to your taste. As with all mixed liquorice, flavour combinations are a matter of personal preference, and we appreciate you sharing your view.

We are genuinely surprised and disappointed by your review, particularly as you have placed seven previous orders with us and, until now, have never contacted us with any concerns about our service.

We have carefully reviewed your order and all of our correspondence. We acknowledge that we initially gave you incorrect information because we mistakenly looked at the wrong order. This was our error, and we apologised as soon as we realised our mistake (which was immediately after you pointed it out). In fact when you contacted us, your order was already on its way to you.

Your order was dispatched on 22 July, tracking details were provided, and Royal Mail records confirm that it was delivered on 25 July within the stated Tracked 48 delivery timeframe.

We have contacted you directly to ask what has led you to describe us as "very dishonest", but unfortunately you have not explained. We genuinely want to understand if there is something we have missed, but without any further information from you, we are unable to do so.

We simply wanted to provide some context for anyone reading this review. We accept and apologise for the genuine mistake we made when initially looking at the wrong order, but we have made every effort to understand and address your concerns and have received no further explanation.

We remain happy to investigate any genuine issue should you wish to contact us.

I'm genuinely sorry that your order arrived in this condition, especially as it was intended as a birthday gift.

The recent heatwave involved prolonged temperatures exceeding 30°C over a number of days and, unfortunately, chocolate products can melt under these conditions whilst in transit. Lakrids by Bülow products are particularly susceptible to heat damage due to both their ingredients and the packaging used for the tubs.

We do make customers aware of this on our website FAQs, which states:

"During warm weather, some of our products — particularly those containing chocolate — may be susceptible to melting in transit. We recommend selecting a faster shipping option during summer months and ensuring someone is available to receive your order. We're unable to take responsibility for heat-related damage.

Lakrids by Bülow items are more susceptible to melting than other items due to the packaging. We're unable to take responsibility for heat-related damage."

You contacted us on Friday and your email was acknowledged immediately. I apologise that a full response was not provided then as this coincided with the weekend and we were assessing the wider impact of the exceptional weather on chocolate products in transit, we needed time to establish the extent of the issue and what support would be available to affected customers. Unfortunately, there was nothing practical that could be done over the weekend in any event, as replacement orders cannot be dispatched and refunds are not processed instantly.

Royal Mail, like other postal carriers, do not provide refrigerated transport for parcels, so once chocolate products enter the postal network we cannot control the temperatures they experience during transit.

Despite the damage being caused by the exceptional weather rather than any fault with the product itself, we did issue you with a full refund.

We're sorry that your first experience with us was disappointing and appreciate you taking the time to share your feedback
