I'm 71 and figured self-publishing would be a nightmare with all the tech. It wasn't. The team explained things without talking down to me, and if I didn't get something the first time they'd try a different way. Book looks lovely. My grandkids are impressed, which is the real prize.
My book has over a hundred photographs spanning two centuries of source material. Permissions clearance for the older images took longer than projected about six extra weeks. But the photo reproduction in the final print is genuinely excellent. Worth the wait, even if the wait wasn't quite what I'd been promised.
I'm not someone who gushes, so take this for what it's worth the work was professional the timelines were mostly met and the people answered emails within a day or two. The finished book holds up. That's what I wanted from a publisher and that's what I got. No surprises good or bad.
