Nick's Building Avis 

This is second time we've ordered our Alder bifolds from Nick's. They're always beautiful. This time we had a glitch in where they were shipped and as a result received them a little late, but I still wouldn't hesitate to recommend them to anyone.

Overall, I would say my experience was a generally positive one in that I ultimately got the door I wanted and it looks great. There was a little hiccup. When I gave the door size over the phone, I was quite certain that I gave the right size door. The contract was sent to me to review and sign digitally. The door size was incorrect. I missed it. When the door arrived, it was the wrong size. When I called, I was reminded that I had reviewed and signed off on the order. Nevertheless, I could not use the door. Once I finally decided to re-order the door, some consideration was given. I apologize; I can't recall the details at this time. The door arrived and was as awesome as the picture on their website. The only caveat I have is with respect to delivery. The door was shipped such that it was my responsibility to get it off the truck and safely in my garage until it could be installed. It would not fit on the lift of a truck. Even if it could have, it would have required a forklift to get it off and safely indoors.
Finally, the solution that I arrived at was to rent a 12-foot flatbed trailer, go to the loading dock, which, in my case was 50 miles from my home, and have the trucking company load it onto the trailer. I had to have all of the necessary tie-downs to strap it to the trailer, which I did. I then had to drive back the 50 miles to my home and get it safely off the trailer and into my garage. It weighed 750 pounds in the crate. Fortunately, there were a few workers at the house that helped with this. The crate was too tall to have it on any kind of dolly and roll it into the garage without hitting the garage door. We had to remove it from the crate, carry it into the garage and lean it against the wall and hope we could keep it safe until it could be installed. It was finally installed yesterday, and it looks awesome. I can't say I was happy with the responsibility being placed on me to get it safely from the carrier, but, that said, the door is everything I hoped it would be.

I was told it was white mahogany but the wood is very dark. Ordering was ok but communication with shipping was totally lacking until I left the 3rd vm (also emailed ) then there was a flurry. John was always prompt with aa response.

The door arrived as beautiful as the pictures and the quality was excellent.
The crating would have protected it from a hurricane.
I will order more doors from this company.

The information, design and ordering process was great.
The follow up after the order was placed was non existent.
After the final payment was made it seemed to me you went silent on the follow up customer service.

The trucking company has been awful, with again no follow up from them, no return phone calls etc.

Pretty much seemed once you had my money you lost interest.

First off the door is absolutely amazing! Everything went pretty well. I had minor aggrivation from the "sales manager" when I called to order the door. Gave the impression that he didn't have time for me and any questions I had asked were met with short , sharp responses with no further explanations. He became short with me when he thought I didn't have my measurements, which I did. Emails sent to this same person went days without any response and they were in regards to them not having the glass we originally ordered. All in all, not 5 stars only because of him, other than that I highly recommend Nick's for any custom door needs. The rest of the staff I had dealt with was fantastic

Highly recommend Nick's Building, especially working with Dave. We had a problem with our wooden door and three point locking system. Even though we had not bought them from Nick's, Dave (1) walked us through our problem, (2) contacted and put us in touch with the right locking system people to make our warranty claim and (3) sent us the right hinges so we could get our door put back up. Thank you Dave and Nick's for outstanding service - much appreciated.

They worked quickly, politely and delivered ahead of schedule. Everything was well packed, zero damage and the quality was great for a super reasonable price. Will order from them again.

What a beautiful door! I waited to write this review until I was sure...the door has now been installed for three weeks and I have to say that everything was perfect. The workmanship was some of the best we (and our installer) had ever seen. We chose "English Chestnut" for the stain and applied several coats of a marine varnish. The door swings easily and everyone who has seen it has commented on its beauty and quality of construction. On a final note, the process of ordering on line did scare me...but I have to say that NIck's made it really easy...from the instructions of how to measure what we needed to the company that delivered it. Everything was perfect! and one rarely finds that situation. Thank you to all at Nick's who made this possible.

My door is beautiful. However, there were some problems. There was a screw up in the size. My door was 1 inch too small even tho correct measurements were given. Nick's made it right by sending me jamb extenders and a wider brick molding. But 2 pieces had to be glued together instead of one piece and is slightly noticeable. Was not a cheap door so can't say I was pleased. They were very courteous and immediately got me my pieces but my installer had to make 2 trips, therefore, 2 charges.

Two solid wood high quality interior doors.
I liked it.

We received our solid mahogany entry door (and side panels) with majestic glass and it is simply gorgeous. Installation should be complete by the weekend and trust that we won't have a problem with installation.
I do have several suggestions.
It wasn't clear to us that we had to order the bore holes on the door, but we caught that and it is fine.
I hope that we won't find something else that we should have thought of!
The use of a lift-gate upon delivery is necessary! I think that $75.00 charge should be included in every delivery charge of doors over a certain weight and the lift gate should be standard. Our crate weighed 680 pounds and we would have NEVER been able to get it off the truck on our own. I actually think WAY more emphasis needs to be put on the weight of these shipments so that the customer is truly ready for the beast of a crate that comes out of the truck.
