My wife and I found Mel's travel blog while researching our trip. What a wonderful, thorough and helpful resource! We were impressed by her depth of knowledge, wide variety of experiences and her passion for the Faroe Islands ... so we worked out a full day guided hike of Nólsoy. I had very high expectations for the day ... and the whole day vastly exceeded those (perhaps unreasonably) high expectations. Mel is warm, engaging and she really knows her stuff. If you do visit Nólsoy with Mel, be sure she takes you to her most favorite spot in the Faroe Islands (it's worth it, trust me). Hiking with Mel was a brilliant highlight that stands out in a trip that had many highlights.

My friend and I spent six days with Melissa, completing seven hikes together. She was knowledgeable, friendly and at ease with us. We had so many laughs and such amazing hikes- it’s a trip that I’ll never forget. Mel is such an awesome tour guide! She's well-traveled, warm, kind, confident, knowledgeable, a great conversationalist, a skilled hiker, etc. In May of 2026, she guided me around the islands of Skúvoy and Streymoy in the Faroe Islands. She was very understanding, and accommodating of my limitations, and skill level, while still being a great motivator for me to keep hiking! I felt very safe with her, and would highly recommend her for any tour, even if she's not yet been to whatever the location may be!
