Dr. Mehr Karamat is a board-certified physician who is a diplomate of the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology. She is also Perinatal mental health certified through Postpartum Support International and performs psychiatric medical legal evaluations as a Qualified Medical Evaluator (QME) for the Department of Industrial Relations, Division of Workers’ compensation for the state of California. As a medical doctor she is well versed in pharmacotherapy/medication management, but she has always been very passionate about psychotherapy, which is why despite strong therapy training during her residency she went on to complete the psychoanalytic psychotherapy training program (PPTP) through the Minnesota Psychoanalytic Society and Institute (MPSI) as well. She uses these skills in her approach to evaluation and treatment on a daily basis. Her Psychiatry practice serves the cities and areas of Irvine, Atherton, Santa Barbara, Santa Monica, Laguna Beach, Newport Beach, Palo Alto, Los Altos, Long Beach, Silicon Valley, Malibu, Montecito, and Beverly Hills. Dr. Mehr Karamat specializes in the treatment of anxiety, ADHD, and depression in adults. Her goal is to provide the best psychiatric care possible for her patients. As a psychiatrist, Dr. Mehr Karamat has seen thousands of patients and is up to date with the newest advancements and evidence based practices in mental health. She has served as a faculty member at psychiatry residency programs at both her training institution, Hennepin County Medical Center in MN as well as at UCLA-Kern Medical Center in CA. Although she loved her role as a mentor and teacher to young budding psychiatrists, she soon realized that ultimately, she wanted to provide care to patients on her own terms, because that is the only way she could truly ensure high quality care. She is currently licensed to practice medicine in California and Minnesota and is accepting new patients residing in both states.
