Dan supported me with structural editing
A friend introduced Dan to me, suggesting that he would be a great resource to help restructure my memoir which I started a while earlier. Dan came on board to help me with structural editing. I already had what I thought was a good manuscript. Within a few days of working with Dan, he pointed out a lot that I hadn’t noticed in the manuscript - verbosity, repetitions, inconsistencies. I initially felt apprehensive and somewhat defensive, pushing back on Dan’s suggested edits. But I am glad I listened to him. I ended up with a much better book. Dan trimmed around 100 pages without altering the story’s flow at all. He also helped to restructure the flow of the book, helping me to maintain chronological consistency.
Dan exhibited a calm, understanding, professional approach during the project, despite my request for several iterations. Thanks to him, the book made it all the way to publishing and should hit the book stands shortly.
I have hinted Dan that I am thinking of another writing project and would definitely work with him again.
