Disgraceful customer care and complete lack of ownership from Peugeot

I am extremely disappointed with Peugeot Customer Care following the breakdown of our Peugeot 3008 EV.
The vehicle broke down with a high-voltage battery warning and was dealt with through Peugeot Assist. RAC has since upheld our complaint regarding the recovery experience, so my issue here is specifically with Peugeot’s handling afterwards and its complete lack of ownership.
Once the vehicle was recovered, Peugeot offered no practical support. The authorised dealership could not inspect the vehicle for around two weeks, yet Peugeot repeatedly said that no courtesy car or assistance could be considered until diagnostics had been completed. This left us with no working vehicle, no diagnosis, no courtesy car and no meaningful help from Peugeot.
Peugeot’s communication has been poor throughout. Rather than taking ownership of the customer journey, Peugeot effectively treated Peugeot Assist, RAC and the dealership as separate entities and left us to deal with the consequences. As a customer, that is unacceptable. Peugeot Assist is part of the Peugeot ownership experience, and Peugeot should not be able to avoid responsibility when that experience fails.
The customer service was also disgraceful. When I asked whether Peugeot could extend the Enterprise hire vehicle we already had, the response from Peugeot’s goodwill team was dismissive and unprofessional. I was told there was no escalation route and no manager or supervisor available beyond the person I was already speaking to.
Peugeot’s final response has now confirmed that it will not offer reimbursement, compensation or even a goodwill payment for hire costs, travel, accommodation, distress, inconvenience, loss of use or any related losses. More concerningly, Peugeot also stated that it will not revisit the matter, cannot escalate the case higher, and does not consider itself responsible for replying further on the same issue.
That response says everything about Peugeot Customer Care. There has been no real ownership, no meaningful acknowledgement of the poor service, no practical support while the vehicle remains unavailable, and no willingness to properly engage with the impact on us as customers.
The issue is not only that the car broke down. The bigger issue is how Peugeot handled it afterwards: poor communication, no accountability, no escalation, no support and a final response that simply shuts the door. Based on this experience, I have very little confidence in Peugeot’s aftercare.

I purchased a Peugeot 308 from Howard’s…

I purchased a Peugeot 308 from Howard’s Peugeot Yeovil and have experienced extremely poor after‑sales support and serious concerns around how safety‑critical faults were handled.
Within 2 months of ownership, the brakes began locking unexpectedly while driving. The first two incidents were dismissed as a “safety feature”. The third incident was severe: the brakes locked completely, all electrics failed, and I was left stranded on a dual carriageway for over an hour. Police and the RAC attended, and the RAC diagnostic identified 15 faults and raised significant safety concerns. Peugeot were provided with a copy of this report.
Despite this, Howard’s Peugeot Yeovil stated “no faults found” and carried out a software update — which I later learned clears stored fault codes. Due to the seriousness of the issue, I did not feel safe driving the vehicle for several months.
When I eventually used the car again, the same dangerous failure occurred, leaving me stranded down a lane with no phone signal. Once again, I was told “no faults found”.
It was only when I refused to take the vehicle back that the dealership acknowledged a brake actuator fault — the same fault already identified by the RAC. Their own data logs from the SAR showed this fault had been present from new and had occurred while the vehicle was in their possession on two occasions. However, their emails repeatedly state they were unaware of any fault until June 2026, despite having had the car since March 2026 on another email they was unaware of any fault until March 2026 but after a thorough inspection and diagnostic test no faults found so they replaced the part they considered it most likely to be.
I also requested copies of the diagnostic reports relating to my vehicle, but these were refused on the basis that they were “confidential”. This lack of transparency has been extremely concerning.
Peugeot Customer Care initially advised that my vehicle rejection would be escalated, but later changed their position without explanation.
My experience has included:
* Safety‑critical faults repeatedly dismissed
* “No faults found” despite independent evidence of multiple faults
* A dangerous vehicle returned to me on more than one occasion
* Contradictory information and records
* A confirmed brake actuator fault only acknowledged after I refused the vehicle
* Diagnostic information relating to my own car withheld
* No meaningful accountability from either the dealership or Peugeot Customer Care
Based on everything I have experienced, I have completely lost confidence in Howard’s Peugeot Yeovil. I would not recommend this dealership and would urge anyone considering purchasing a vehicle from them to carefully consider the level of support they may receive if something goes wrong.

ZERO STARS Absolutely appalling service…

ZERO STARS Absolutely appalling service from peugueot!!

Absolutely appalling customer service.

I have never experienced such a complete lack of urgency, communication or care when dealing with a serious and potentially dangerous vehicle fault.

My car has developed a fault where it continually thinks the boot is open when it is securely closed. This triggers the emergency alert system, with the alarm repeatedly sounding. It is extremely loud, distracting and stressful, particularly when driving. Having an emergency alert constantly going off while you are trying to concentrate on the road is not only incredibly frustrating, but potentially very dangerous.

To make matters worse, because of the fault, I am unable to properly secure and lock the vehicle. This is not a minor inconvenience. It is a serious safety and security issue.

Despite explaining the severity of the problem, I have been told that I may have to wait 7–8 weeks before the car can even be looked at. When I asked for a courtesy car, I was told there are no courtesy cars available until November.

The communication has been absolutely shocking. I have left messages and repeatedly tried to contact the service department, only to receive no call back. Calls are ignored or not answered, and I have been left chasing them repeatedly just to get basic information.

I should not have to constantly chase a manufacturer and dealership for help with a serious fault on my vehicle that I purchased less than 6 months ago !!!

When I have managed to speak to someone, the attitude has often been rude, dismissive and completely unhelpful, with no real attempt to find a solution or take ownership of the situation.

How is it acceptable to expect a customer to continue driving a vehicle that is repeatedly emergency alerting, distracting them while driving, cannot be properly secured and may take 7–8 weeks to be investigated?

And if I am not supposed to drive it, what exactly am I expected to do when no courtesy car is available until November?

I bought a vehicle expecting the manufacturer and dealership network to provide support when something goes wrong. Instead, I have been left feeling completely abandoned, ignored and expected to simply put up with a potentially dangerous fault.

Stellantis seriously needs to look at how it handles serious and emergency vehicle faults. The lack of urgency, communication and basic customer service has been completely unacceptable.

I would strongly advise anyone considering a Peugeot vehicle to think very carefully about the level of aftercare they can expect when things go wrong. The real test of a company isn't how they treat you when everything is working — it's how they treat you when it isn't.

Extremely disappointed.

Extremely disappointed with Peugeot

Extremely disappointed with Peugeot – catastrophic engine failure after Peugeot service

We bought our Peugeot 408 (CY23 EGC) directly from a Peugeot dealership on PCP finance and have always had the vehicle maintained within the Peugeot network, including its servicing and MOTs.

In June 2025, Peugeot fitted the spark plugs during a service.

In July 2026, the car had its next service. Just 14 days later, the engine suffered catastrophic failure and we were told that a spark plug had melted and caused the engine damage, meaning the engine now needs to be replaced.

The car has only covered around 30,000 miles.

What makes this even more frustrating is Peugeot’s response. They initially offered a 75% goodwill contribution, but have now declined our claim, apparently relying on the fact that the 2026 service was carried out later than the recommended date.

There was a very good reason for this. We were abroad on a pre-booked holiday. As soon as we were notified that the service was due, we contacted Peugeot and booked the earliest available appointment after our return. We have the booking documentation and holiday evidence to prove this. Had Peugeot told us that the service needed to be carried out before we went away, we would have made arrangements to do so.

We therefore find it extremely difficult to understand how a short delay in the 2026 service can be used to reject responsibility for a spark plug that Peugeot itself fitted in June 2025.

We shall be escalating our complaint and are seeking a full explanation of the technical evidence behind Peugeot’s decision.

We bought the car from Peugeot, had it maintained by Peugeot and followed their servicing process. We expected Peugeot to stand behind its workmanship and the parts it fitted.

At this stage, we are extremely disappointed with both the failure itself and, more importantly, the way Peugeot has handled our complaint.

Peugeot: we would welcome a proper response to this review and an explanation of why you believe a spark plug fitted by your own dealership can fail catastrophically and destroy an engine, yet the customer is expected to bear the cost.

Don’t buy Peugeot cars

I just want to warn anyone thinking of getting a Peugeot vehicle about their poor standard of vehicles.

A spark plug was changed on our vehicle and only lasted 8,000 miles when they should last 20-25,000 our spark plug snapped inside the engine 2 weeks after a service which now requires a full engine, we have a full service history it’s only done 30,000 miles, and they are saying we have to now pay for a new engine. We are under or annual mileage, they knocked back 75% good will gesture because the service was 6 days out when we tried to book it in they had no availability so gave us a new date and we were told this wouldnt affect our warranty.

Their customer service has been horrendous not one person spoke clear English and didn’t want to help, it was almost a cast of it’s your problem not ours.
Please read this and think twice before going with Peugeot I have been told by many machanics that this does not surprise them with Peugeot products and customer services.
My vehicle is 408 23 plate done 30,000 miles.
They might look nice but their products aren’t fit for purpose and nor is the vehicle and there are thousands of cases like mine and It is well known around the spark plugs not being adequate.

We plan on taking legal advice now, we won’t be getting a car again from Peugeot.

Mobility Issue

I visited Peugeot in Oldham and encountered a service assistant slouched in his chair with i could not be bothered attitude. My issue was the Count down on the Add Blue additive which continues to count down even when it is gushing out of the cap. I pointed out that i was scared that the car would not start when my Wife was in the car and we would be stranded. She is disabled and can not even stand. I find it incredible that in a modern car the Add Blue is not operated like the Fuel Gage. I would not buy a Peugeot again due to this issue and the un - empathetic customer service i received. If that person is the customer face of Peugeot Oldham i can understand the poor level of reviews.

So I rang Peugeot Safety recall team regarding a recall on my van an I’ve been put through to a pleasant women named Violet. I have never experienced such a rude person in my life. She must be having a bad Monday or something but you do not expect to be spoken to like that when being nothing but helpful with her. She needs to be sat down and spoken to by her hierarchy because that is not how you speak to customers and to top it off she put the phone down and didn’t get the information off her that I rang up for.

One star because there was nothing… Diabolical

One star because there was nothing less. After 40 years of dealing with Peugeot... the first 20 years when based in the UK, the car manufacturer of excellence, and customer care excellent. since then - the slippery slope. Having leased a car for years, and then bought, I have found customer care, not only disjointed and unhelpful, but the actual paid for service diabolical. Will never deal with them again. Have found a fantastic service since without being ripped off. Please get in touch to find out? Peugeot you used to be magnificent - certainly not now. Interestingly got a click mechanics approval! My word! Bypassed all of the cost and bs and my car was MOTd and service’s quickly at a minuscule of the cost normally. Please everyone look at what dealerships do and charge for and for the poor service. Get back to old fashioned mechanics.

I am extremely disappointed with Peugeot UK's customer service and warranty support.

My Peugeot 2008, with very low mileage and still covered by the manufacturer's warranty, has developed a major engine fault. I expected Peugeot to deal with the issue promptly and provide a reasonable solution, but that has not been my experience.

I have already been without my car for over a week, and the earliest appointment available is 23 October 2026. It is unacceptable to expect a customer with a vehicle under manufacturer's warranty to wait months for a diagnosis or repair of a major engine fault.

In the meantime, I am still paying monthly finance for a car that I cannot drive. I have lost work shifts because I rely on my vehicle for my job, and I have had to spend additional money on alternative transport while my car remains parked outside my home.

The situation has also placed a significant burden on my family. I have a vulnerable son with complex medical needs who regularly attends hospital appointments and may require emergency medical care. Being left without a reliable vehicle for such a long period has caused unnecessary stress and hardship.

A manufacturer's warranty should give customers confidence and peace of mind. Instead, I have experienced delays, poor support, and no practical solution. I expected Peugeot UK to resolve a serious warranty issue within a reasonable timeframe, but they have failed to do so.

This experience has seriously damaged my confidence in Peugeot, and I would not recommend the brand based on the level of customer service and warranty support I have received.

Absolutely appalling

Absolutely appalling. Please never buy from Peugeot. It has been 6 weeks since my car was recalled for a fault. We have been without a car because it broke down 2 days later. For the last 6 weeks I have been promised a call back everyday and the call has NEVER come. I have been hung up on by the “customer care” colleagues 4 times today alone. They just say the Garage cant assess the car until the end of August and they will not provide me with a courtesy car. Nobody is taking ownership of my complaint and to be hung up on when I call is atrocious.

AVOID PEUGEOT CARS AT ALL COSTS…

2 year old E208 broke down with all warning lights flashing called Peugeot Assist which in effect is not a dedicated service like other premium car makes but just the RAC who tested the battery which evedently is the main cause of electric car failure THEY SAID BATTERY WAS FINE They could not fix it and all dealers were booking 2 weeks probably because their cars are unreliable and broken down Any
was taken to storage place in Merton where it stood outside for 2 weeks when it was supposed to be sent to Palmers in Chorley Wood only it was a week late due then losing the car which was eventually found in South Mimms Finally made it to the dealer and guess what it was a failed battery which Peugeot assist failed to diagnose so new battery not covered by warranty £400 outrageous on a 2 year car finally got car back from Pamers Croxley with 3 weeks grime dust and bird poo i complaind and they say they don't clean cars despite having over 100 on forecourt sparkling clean
SO SUMMING UP THEIR CARS ARE UNRELIABLE EVEN NEW PEUGEOT ASSIST ARE INCOMPETENT CUSTOMER CARE ARE NON EXISTANT AND GOOD LUCK GETTING A COURTESY CAR FROM THE DEALER

I have a Peugeot 3008 (2020) .

I have a Peugeot 3008 (2020) .. Diesel HDI blue...I have a problem with a few months now with the electrical system..I am getting a intermittent problem that's telling me that I have a ABS, hill start, and a few other messages on my screen. I have taken it to a Main dealer twice to get it checked out and sorted only to find that they have no way in fixing the problem.. Their scan tool tells them that I have a ABS sensor issue which I myself have replaced because Peugeot don't stock such parts. crazy for a Main dealer.. I replaced the sensor and the problem didn't go away , as I still have all those messages still coming up..Basically they have told me to find a Auto electrician that would have knowledge in fixing the problem...To anyone reading this I would strongly advise you to stay far away from Peugeot vehicles as their after sales services don't exist. And do your research into Peugeot car's and their problems. I'm sorry I didn't do such a check....Jim. Republic of Ireland.

Indefinite wait to get our motorhome…

Indefinite wait to get our motorhome back lost our summer holiday …
Please can someone from Peugeot respond I have a 2023 motorhome based on a Peugeot boxer motorhome less than 6000 miles on it which has had trouble from the outset. We Purchased brand new.
It is currently in for warranty work and after waiting patiently for over 7 weeks have now been informed by your motorhome department that there is now no date even available as to when the new required ECU will enter production this is completely unacceptable. We were told 4-5 weeks initially but now to be told it’s an indefinite wait is just totally unacceptable. I have just contacted your customer care line who are unwilling to open a complaint and wished me good luck in filing a complaint.
I am now going to loose £2000 pounds in booked site fees. This is not even the most important part as due to Peugeots inept parts department my Family will loose our summer holiday which is irreplaceable ….
Somebody must be able to look into this matter and firm up a date but apparently I am informed I must wait patiently indefinitely.
You should be ashamed of the entire process ……

Just the absolute worst

Just the absolute worst. Please anyone reading this, do not buy a Peugeot!

I bought a 4 year old Peugeot Partner and within 4 months, the entire engine needed replacing. Peugeot refused to cover it, despite it being legally covered by the Consumer Rights Act. This forced me to instruct solicitors to help. 6 months later, just as it was about to go to court, I magically get informed there's a recall on this issue.

I am still only writing this review after being made to wait over a month for an appointment, and after my van has sat at the Peugeot garage for 2 weeks with no work having been carried out. It's impossible to get hold of the service team for updates, and I have now been without my work van for 7 months!!

Three years ago I bought a Peugeot and that's when the nightmare began. I've spent over £6,000 on it and it's still giving me problems. This brand sends letters and gives me an appointment with a two-month wait just to look at the car. They play with their customers, making them believe they're going to solve the problem, but it's all a lie. Don't buy cars from this brand because you'll suffer a lot of bitter moments.
