I had very few days to prepare for the CBT, and I had found PrepTerminal's promotional video on YouTube, suggesting the need to study using a practice exam. I purchased the 1-week version and practiced diligently. On the day of the test, I felt quite confident, thanks in no small part to the practice test. I answered the questions quickly, and found that all the questions on the real test were significantly easier than those found on the practice test. I was out of the testing center with significant time to spare, and I later received word that I passed!

I have two main complaints with this service, however, which have led me to conclude that a 5-star rating is undeserved. The first is that the marketing for this product relies on instilling fear in the test-taker. The promotional video I watched states that there is an extremely high failure rate for this test. Whether or not this is true (and I assume it is), it is spoken in such a way so as to compel the test-taker to fear that he or she will fail too unless they have this product. The video also states that other practice tests are outdated and unhelpful, as they do not appropriately match the difficulty of the test. The video displayed such "unhelpful" tests, but I found that those tests matched the real CBT more closely.

And this brings up the second complaint - this practice test will overprepare you for the CBT. A reasonable person might say that this is a good thing, but I found that this practice test asked me to practice skills that were not needed at all on the real CBT. Significant amounts of time and money were wasted for me, practicing skills I did not really need to have.

The connect-the-dots portion of the practice test asked the test-taker to practice going in backwards alphanumeric order, with skipping occurring as well. This was not needed at all for me! I'm not sure what other test-takers experienced on the CBT, but the actual connect-the-dots portion was incredibly easy, and a practice test was unnecessary.

The image recognition portion of the CBT was incredibly easy, with very simple images to compare. I moved incredibly quickly through this portion, and it stood in stark contrast to the difficulty of the image recognition portion of this PrepTerminal practice test. The images were hyper-complicated, and the differences were extremely subtle. I practiced skills for identifying the matches, and I improved, but the skills I practiced were unnecessary. The promotional video derided other practice tests for their use of simple images in the image recognition portion, but these turned out to be more similar to the real test. Thus, in both of these first two portions of the CBT, I was unnecessarily overprepared, and I had wasted time and money, believing the promotional material.

I was quite grateful, however, to have the 2d-3d image folding section of the practice test. This was, indeed, the most challenging section of the CBT, and I think that I performed quite well on this portion because of this practice test. Multiple skills that I practiced with the PrepTerminal test were useful in the actual CBT, especially time management. Once again, though, the shapes shown in the CBT were significantly simpler than those shown in the practice test. In part, this was a good thing, as it gave me great speed and a confidence boost, but it may also suggest that this PrepTerminal practice exam is not worth its price tag.

Overall, I think this test was useful in that it helped me know what to expect, topic-wise, on the CBT. However, I do not believe it is worth the ~$80 I spent on it, using it only for the needed couple of days, practicing many skills that were not needed, and some that were. I think the marketing for this product is too aggressive and anxiety-inducing, and it presents an untruthful portrayal of the actual CBT. Major portions of the practice test (including the outdated x-ray portion) are likely factored into the cost of the product, which means that the product should cost significantly less than it does. I wish I had prepared using a less costly, more accurate practice test.

The prep course is exactly the same as you will get in the actual CBT for the TSA. I bought the course just three days before the exam and easily passed.

I went with the 1 week Prepterminal option and it worked perfectly for me. It gave me a good idea of what to look for on the real exam and I passed on the first attempt. The 2D-3D exercises were fairly accurate and helped me understand what to expect.
TSA is pretty slow in the hiring process as I filled out the application in Dec. 2024 and it is Feb. 7th. 2025 and I have not received a call or email for a for an interview. I requested additional info from the TSA and they mentioned that my application is complete and I'm in the queue when an available position is available.

I took the TSA test and passed on my first try thanks to Prepterminal! I had technical questions while I was preparing and I received fast and helpful assistance from the Prepterminal support staff. I highly recommend using this course to prepare yourself for your new career. A very positive experience!

This is a good practice test for the real one. Connect the dots and image recognition practice tests are difficult and prepares you very well. 2D-3D interpretation test is also difficult, but it only gives you an idea of what the real test is going to be. The questions were different in the real test.
