Every time I use Prise Spy the price…
Every time I use Price Spy the price they list is massively lower than the actual price. Example: Price Spy list £163.98 and when visiting the seller. The price us £225. Pathetic.

I downloaded the app from an advert on Facebook. They show you a discount from a reputable company e.g. Dixons Carphone. Then a few days later send through an offer from a fake website that's even cheaper. DO NOT GIVE CARD DETAILS!! The website I had was called activemart.co.uk. The website is fake- the app is a Scam

We are very sorry about this. Even though we do a check on every single company prior to listing their website unfortunately in UK company hijacking (when a fraud hijacks the details of a legit company stating them as their own) is a big problem and harder to detect since everything seems legit at the first checks.
From the reports we received an our more thorough investigation that these reports led to, this website seems to have been just the case of company hijacking, a little more advanced too involving photoshopped websites, google map results etc.
We are doing our very best to catch fraudulent websites before listing them and are dynamically developing a more secure work process when going through stores.
Unfortunately I cannot guarantee not a single one will slip through but I do guarantee that we are trying our very best to minimize as much as we can.
In the nearest week we will publish an article on how to detect a scam store and what to be aware of when shopping online, regardless if it's through PriceSpy or not. Keep an eye out!

Useful!
PriceSpy is a very useful tool on finding the cheapest price for products. It helps save me a lot of money by checking on here for the cheapest price. The website is top notch, but the app isn’t as good. When I click on a product, it includes used stuff, which is ok when your trying to find used stuff, but generally not.

Thought I would give it a go…
Thought I would give it a go considering how cheap the products were. As I have expected - I have received a fake product - but what can you expect for that price. Purchased an eye palette - eye shadows were just wrong, colours so different to the original palette ones, brush was covered in glue, and the hair from the brush was falling out ... not to mention the colours are not even lasting...and the box? Covered in marks and scratches. The material next to the mirror is literally falling apart.... soooo never again I guess :)

Do not waste your time with this site, they are simply click bait to get paid for your clicks.
The prices are always lower than the actual site, so you click the link and the price will be nothing like the advertised one.
In many cases the product is not carried by the supplier they show you.

Errors will unfortunately always occur as no system is bulletproof and there will always be stores that intentionally put lower prices in order to draw customers.
They are however luckily a limited number and we do take our mission seriously.
We have since launched several projects addressing issues of incorrect prices and I'd say that we're on a good path 😊

And then it happens again because the haven't changed their policy on including Marketplace (or at least being able to tell the difference between a new and used item).
Just means a lot of pointless alerts in email.

If a used item is not marked as such our system does not pick it up, since all products are listed as new by default. But when we learn about we can set our own rules so that it shows correctly.
With Amazon it is a bit tricky since it is a huuuuge amount of prices and info to handle and the risk of errors is much bigger than with a regular store.
Since your review we have launched many projects regarding improvement of different kinds, both accuracy and speed.

useful site but some of the prices are lower than the source website
some of the prices are not matching the supplier websites so there seems to be a synchronisation issue, or suppliers are reducing the price for PriceSPy to draw in potential customers and then increase the price on their website in the hope some people will pay the extra. But it IS useful to see the prices and stockists for the chosen product, hence 3*

It is definitely a synch issue as you say, since we read the stores' information 5-7 times a day as an average. If a store changes their prices between readings we will display incorrect information until the next reading.
There are suppliers abusing the system but they get caught quite fast 😊 luckily we have attentive users who help us in detecting things.

Many prices don't match the prices shown in the retailers' page.
They advertise a Lenovo Thinkpad five times cheaper than the price shown in the retailer's landing page.

It was quite a while ago but since it's an issue that many of our users have remarked on previously I will address it anyway.
Unfortunately the displayed data on our site will never be 100% accurate, even if it's our ambition to be as correct and updated as possible.
The information we show is provided to us from the stores we list, either by a price feed from the store or by crawling their websites.
If a store updates their prices just after their info has been read it will show incorrectly until the next reading.
Luckily in the last two years we have done a lot of updates to our various systems in order to raise the accuracy.
