We used PROSHRED for shredding services and had a very disappointing experience when we tried to schedule a pickup for a locked shred container at our office.

We emailed on February 13, 2026, to request the next available pickup date. After no response, we followed up again on February 25 and February 26 and made multiple phone calls… still no acknowledgment or reply. For a law firm handling confidential, time-sensitive materials, being ignored like this is unacceptable.

By the end of February, we had to set a firm deadline (close of business March 2, 2026) to get basic written confirmation of (1) whether they intended to continue servicing the account and (2) the specific pickup date. Because we received nothing, we were forced to consider switching providers and addressing the abandoned container ourselves.

If your business relies on timely communication, especially for sensitive documents... be cautious. Our experience was essentially that the company “disappeared” when we needed service.

We set up an appointment for PROSHRED to come out for a 4-hour shred. The people I emailed with were great- informative, quick to respond, helpful, flexible, kind. Day of the appointment, somehow the timing got confused on their end and they were running about an hour late- they did not contact me. I called to ask for an ETA somewhere around the 20-minute late mark. The phone rang and rang and rang until someone who sounded like they just woke up answered and took my information for someone else to call me back. I got the call and the girl was great- personable, apologetic, helpful, bent over backwards to try to make it right. Awesome.
We rescheduled for the following week, and the truck driver was expected within a 15 minute window (10:30-10:45).
10:55- I called my contact at their offices and she said the truck hit traffic before their first stop and would be there in half an hour. Ok, it happens.
Well, 11:45 rolled around and still no truck. I called the offices and it rang for forever before a crabby sounding person answered and took my message. Finally, around 11:50, the truck driver called my on-site contact to say they'd be another half hour late. My on-site contact who was extremely upset by this point told the driver not to bother, we're cancelling. I then got a call from our PROSHRED contact who was confused as to why we'd cancelled. She had been extremely nice previously, but seemed to have a slight attitude with me for our cancellation, (lots of "Okay.... fine...." type of comments.) We initially called PROSHRED because they'd just handled a community event at our nearby library and we heard it went well. Sadly, we will not be attempting to utilize PROSHRED any more, as we wasted 3 hours of waiting for the truck between the two appointments we booked.

Expect long periods of radio silence punctuated by confusing, contradictory updates, if you receive updates at all. Basic inquiries take days or weeks to answer, and when responses do come, they are often incomplete or off-topic, suggesting little to no internal coordination. Critical information gets buried in jargon-heavy emails, while urgent issues are met with automated replies and no real follow-up.
Internally, it seems that personnel are siloed to the point of dysfunction. One department promises one thing, another department denies it, and no one seems to be willing to resolve even simple problems. Meetings feel like an endless game of "telephone," where what you hear depends entirely on who happens to be speaking that day.

In today's world, where clear and timely communication should be a baseline expectation, Proshed Security, who supposed to do document shredding, is decades behind. It's disappointing, exhausting, and ultimately erodes any trust you might have had at the outset.

Unless you're prepared to chase them for answers and manage constant miscommunication, I would strongly recommend looking elsewhere.

This is the second time that we have used this company for our document shredding services. From our intitial phone consultation to scheduling and the day of service, this company has been wonderful. I highly recommend them.

ProShred showed up on time, had a professional driver, took my 700lbs of work documents and shredded them as I watched. Great company, half the price of (Shredit) but most importantly they showed up and did the job when they said they would. Neat, clean, perfect.

The drivers communication was very unprofessional. We asked to receive a call 30 mins before pick up in Matteson, Il. We received a 10 min call. When communicating with driver, they were laughing and making jokes. Since this matter was a sensitive situation, it cause my stress and anxiety. I had to schedule an immediate therapy session. Losing over 15 family members in three years is no laughing matter. I live out of state and informed the agent upon booking. So, I had to make arrangements with other people to take care of this process. I gave a four star because the job was completed and I always use this company. I often tell other family , friends, and co-workers which led to a government contracts for the company. The drivers should remain professional at all time. I don’t remember the services date, I think it was sometime in April or May.

The guys are ProShred are the best for our confidential document paper shredding. Kevin was great explaining the process. Will and Ian show up at the same time for each pickup making it convenient. They always have a smile and great attitude. Also love how they shred on site where I can see it!

Never got our shredding picked up. 2nd year we've had an issue with either not picking up on the original date or just being forgotten all together. Nobody had an answer and was a waste of time.

Quick response time! Very good price! The shredding service person called on the date and offered to come a little early if it was convenient, and it was. He came, collected our 2-bin allotment and returned our empty boxes. He was friendly, courteous and professional! And we received our Certificate of Destruction in short order. Thank you ProShred!

This is the best way to shred important files and documents at your home and the perk is that you cam see them being shredded, my files dated back to 1999 and had bought a home micro shredder that was great but It would have taken too much time to do service was professional and quick will use again soon.

They were very polite and professional. They came within the time window that was given. The technician was very polite and helped me with my boxes. He offered to let me watch the shredding. I felt secure enough not to. This was the third time I have used them and recommend them highly.
