Do not apply for this card!!

Awful company! I have not used my card in MONTHS, pay my bill on time - usually MORE that what is due, yet my amount due increases every month! How does that make sense? The "customer service" person made NO sense when I called today and canceled my card. STAY AWAY - there are MANY better cards than THIS one.

Customer for a number of years

Customer for a number of years . Very dissatisfied with their customer service. The lack of response and communication needs improvement. I was bombarded with calls and email regarding offers and when I act on it, no response. I have an excellent credit rating, however , customer service is very important to me.

CANNOT RECOMMEND

I knew it was a high-interest rate card going in, at that time I had to play the game. I had the account for 5 yrs. I never fell behind, always made payments on time, paid off the balance several times.

another time when I paid it off, I called to ask for a better interest rate - they refused, citing company policy.
Approximately 10 months after that, I decided to just close the account.

I was informed that I would never, under any circumstance ever, be able to have a prosper card again.
citing company policy.

They are a credit company - and they will as most credit companies do, stick you anyway they can with fees and charges BUT for me personally, the unfriendly policies towards customers that are in good standing, have good or great credit, have demonstrated credit worthiness, but they don't care.
so, their unwillingness to renegotiate a better rate, forced me to close the account and the demeaning policy that I will never be able to reopen another account in the future as if the account was marked delinquent.

It is not the service reps' fault, though I have had some who I could not understand anything they said.

My complaint is with their policies. They don't care if you have bad credit or have grown into great credit, they're all about what they can squeeze out of the customer, PERIOD. They are not looking to retain customers, or foster better relations with customers, for me, that's a huge red flag.

I would not recommend, It's just not worth the ridiculous interest rates or the annual fee.

STAY AWAY!! SNEAKY PRACTICES! TERRIBLE TREATMENT

Had the card for over a year, around Christmas I used about 60% of the credit limit. My card credit limit was immediately lowered to match the current balance used causing the card balance to be 100% of the card limit. Lower my credit score due to 100% of card limit used. I paid the balance in full and cancelled the card that month. Terrible, sneaky practice. STAY AWAY!!!

I started off with a $2000 credit limit…

I started off with a $2000 credit limit a couple around 2022. I also have other credit cards I use and pay. Never missing any payments EVER! One of my cards was used and my credit score dropped so Prosper lowered my available limit to $700. My credit score dropped because of it. So not long after the credit score drop Prosper did it again only this time from $700 to $600. Once again my credit score went down a couple points. Remember I never missed a payment or gave them any reason to think I would miss a payment. This card is to help build credit but for me it's hurting my credit score. I would have recommendedthem at the beginning but now, I wouldn't recommend Prosper credit card!!!!!

They are a scam they approve you for a credit limit that they don't keep they lower it every time your credit score drops and they run your credit constantly without notifying you
Which causes your credit to go down? As well, they are a scam. Please be aware every time they take your credit away. It drops your credit as well. They do not help your credit. They make your credit worse

I loved this card at first

I loved this card at first. But I had an unexpected credit limit change. They said it was because my credit score dropped. And you wanna know how much my score dropped? ONE point. Because my score dropped by 1 whole point, they cut my credit limit down to basically nothing and said I need to raise it significantly to even be considered for an increase. I’ve kept this card (and all others) in good standing. My score dropped due to a few recent inquiries but they don’t care. I’m currently away on a trip and was shocked by discovering this decrease which has now dampened the mood of the trip. It’s the only card I intended on using on this trip. Once I pay the balance I’m closing the account.

Missing payment- reduced limit

Missing payment, I have a copy of the check and they don’t reply. Meanwhile I find out they’ve reduced my limit by $3K! Avoid this card! Closed the account and not paying it, let them sue me…don’t really care what it does to my credit. It’s worth it to screw them

Prosper suddenly reduced my available credit by $1100.00!

I've had the Prosper card for 8 months. I've never been late with a payment and usually made payments well before they were due. I thought Prosper was going to be one of my favorite cards. Not now. I give them two middle fingers for what they did to me recently. I logged onto the website and found that my available credit had been decreased by $1100.00! I read tonight that sudden credit limit reduction is a common practice and a common complaint about Prosper. I called and requested they send me a letter of explanation. Their letter states: "Credit score deterioration" and "Number of trades opened in recent period is too high" for reasoning behind the drastic credit limit reduction. B.S.!!! I HAD NOT OPENED ANY NEW ACCOUNTS or "TRADES" as they stated, but I did cancel about 5 credit cards after paying them off right before annual fees were due. It saved me about $1000.00! I didn't need the 5 credit cards, but I could make better use of that $1000.00. A few were old accounts (the old accounts add stability and look good on your credit record) which is good on your credit report, but those annual fees were too high and a couple of the cards also had monthly service fees. When I cancelled the credit cards, I knew it would bring down my total available credit which hurts temporarily, but I will recover. UPDATE: I received a letter from Prosper today, April 10, 2026 that reads: "Thank you for your recent request to decrease your credit limit on your Prosper Card account". "This request has been processed and your new credit limit is $700.00". What?! I didn't request the credit limit reduction, they did it without any warning to me. Crazy, mixed up company! Upon reading the reviews about Prosper, I found that they have acted the same way to other cardholders. Who would request that their credit limit be reduced by $1100.00? I didn't.

I would give 0 stars if possible

I would give 0 stars if possible. Initial card limit was $1200. I made my payments on time, got limit doubled. I paid the card off in full on 2/17. On Mar 7, my credit limit was reduced to $500 without any notice. I just called to ask what happened to my limit and was told "oh, your credit score changed so it was decreased." No, it hasn't. But ok whatever. Then he says "you'll be eligible for increases again." I worked hard to make my payments and pay it off and you all took the limit down by $1900. WTH?!?

Not worth the Headache

Easy to get but company insists that it's tied to your bank account for payments.
If you change banks and accidentally put wrong numbers in the will close down card for 10 day approx till payment is made or caught up. Even when card is paid up the often tag card for fraud usually at most in opportune times such trying to get fuel or groceries. (I have only used mine in emergencies) Feel that their system sucks and it takes days for them to get card active again.Yes, it did help build credit but moving to a hassle free lower interest card.

Stay away from this Credit Card

am a new Prosper Credit Card holder and had an extremely negative experience from the start.

I used the card once for a $14 purchase at Target. Shortly afterward, Prosper charged a $39 annual fee. I immediately contacted customer service to request a waiver and was told it would not be removed.

I then explicitly asked to close the account and stated I would pay the remaining balance. I submitted a $20 payment, which was more than the original charge. Despite this, Prosper continued to assess late fees and interest, even though the issue was caused by their refusal to resolve the billing dispute.

My balance has now ballooned to $88 for a $14 purchase.

I requested to speak with a supervisor and received no response. Customer service was unhelpful and dismissive, and the situation escalated entirely due to Prosper’s failure to properly close the account and correct their own billing.

This feels predatory and misleading, especially toward new cardholders. If you are considering this card, be aware that small charges can quickly turn into large balances due to fees, and resolving disputes appears unnecessarily difficult.

Do not accept this card

I thought I was making a good decision to accept this card.. They initially gave me a $1800 credit line.. I used it sparingly throughout the year and ALWAYS paid on time.. I go to use it last year for school clothes for my children but I checked the app before buying, my limit dropped from $1800 to $500.. I didn't use the card that day.. Then 3 months later, it goes up randomly to $1600... I use it this month to pay a bill, then I get a notice that my limit dropped once again, this time to $600.. They can do whatever they want, even if youre a customer with outstanding credit and usage.. Luckily I didn't use the card enough to make me go over the limit when they decided to randomly decrease my limit... If I could close this account I would today.. Unfortunately I need to pay my balance of $380 first and then Im DONE with their business and bs tactics... My credit history is excellent, payments always on time, 33% usage on all cards.. They have no reason to just randomly take away what THEY offered...

I am so disgusted with this credit…

I am so disgusted with this credit card. I have never missed a payment and some months pay even more yet they have started reducing my credit limit. I called and the non English speaking woman told me that I would need to call the credit bureaus. My credit score has continually risen for the last 6 months yet they are blaming my credit score for the reduction of my credit limit. If closing the account had no bearing on my credit score I would close it in a minute. Think twice!!

I had $2600 credit limit and a $2620 balance. I paid $1700. They dropped my credit limit to $1100 after the payment. Now i have $100 in available credit and they just pocketed my payment. This is two weeks before Christmas. I've never had a late payment. Oh and I still have a $900 balance with nothing to show for.

ZERO stars if I could.

ZERO stars if I could.

I entered a hardship payment arrangement where reduced monthly payments were supposed to be handled automatically via autopay. On the first due date, autopay was inexplicably off, so I manually paid the agreed amount and turned autopay on to prevent issues.

This morning, my bank account showed two identical charges for the hardship payment plus an extra unauthorized $60. Customer service—outsourced overseas—gave me a nonsensical excuse that autopay triggered both the arrangement amount and the balance due. That explanation is absurd, especially since I’ve used MANUAL PAY WITH AUTOPAY TURNED ON before without ever being double‑charged.

Their only “solution” was to submit a vague ticket, leaving me to dispute the charges with my bank. The hardship agreement never required autopay to be off, and their contradictory handling proves their systems are broken, their customer service is useless, and their practices border on deceptive.

Avoid this company at all costs.
