Used Quick Laws to re-make my will this year as mine was outdated. The previous law firm charged me over $3000 to make and store my will, Quick Laws re-did it for around $300!!! About 10% of the cost... Voir plus

Quarrels over moneyed property also take place because of insufficient detail given and any unforeseen hurdles unknown to

Hi Patricia,
Thanks for the feedback!

There is an Inventory of Assets included in the Online Will kit. The Will template covers funeral preferences in detail. It is not standard practice to list individual property and assets in a Will, as mentioned in the Will kit.

Quarrels over property do occur after a death in the family, however, it makes no difference if the deceased has put sufficient detail or any 'unforeseen hurdles' when making the Will. It matters whether the deceased has left a Will, and whether that Will is valid. This is all comprehensively covered in the kit you received.

Thanks!
Amber

One star is too many

I paid for draft consent orders and application for consent orders. Tried to lodge what Quick Laws provided and the court would not accept the application because the form is 12 months out of date. Instead of updating their forms they wanted me to point out the differences. Maybe the fact that they can't spot the difference is why they are working in this type of position. No interest in correcting their mistake for future customers. Look elsewhere.

Update: Received a phone call and six emails in the space of 30 minutes this morning demanding I remove this review, threatening to sue me for defamation, accused me of submitting the application they provided and just trying to get a refund and generally insisting with absolute certainty that there was no difference in the application they provided me and the one available on the Family Courts website.

From a quick (less than 10 minutes) skim through both documents I was able to identify two instances that the legislation differed between the documents. I provided this information to Quick Laws and surprisingly there has been no response.

In less then half the time Quick Laws spent harassing me, they could of identified and corrected the errors in the application they provide.

Hi Mark
Thanks for the feedback and I'm sorry that you had this experience.
Unfortunately, we only received your request for an updated form at the same time you posted the review and requested a refund. You then advised you already had the form and had submitted the application, which was accepted so there was little more we could do other than provide a refund. I do not believe there was a long delay in our response. We were unable to offer a full refund in these circumstances.

You received customised consent orders particular to your situation. It's a specifically drafted agreement which was accepted by the Court, that would normally cost up to tens of thousands of dollars when drafted by a Lawyer. It is a very difficult document to draft and Lawyers charge a lot of money for this document. We provide this at an extremely affordable price compared to a Lawyer. Quick Laws helped you to save tens of thousands of dollars in legal fees which is the purpose of the kit. I'm sorry, however, a full refund is not warranted in these circumstances.

Probate is not difficult.

The process, using quicklaws online forms, made the probate application easy.
Whilst the entire application for probate is daunting, it was made far simpler using quicklaws.

Poor Service

Apparently, your link to the probate guide will expire within 12 months (or maybe before that as the owner doesn't seem to know either).
An email reminder that the link will expire would have been helpful given it can take some time to complete the process (it is obviously difficult when you have suddenly lost a parent).
Since they have refused to provide the probate guide that I purchased, I have asked for general information that would be available in the probate guide (regarding where there is a change of address) that I can no longer access and was told they will not provide the information. Poor customer service.
Have been asked to provide more information as it has been incorrectly flagged by quicklaws. I purchased the kit on 26 of March 2018 and completed the probate template. I needed to consult the guide last week due to a change of address.
The customer service was poor and only willing to assist once I posted a review. Instead of immediately refusing to provide the updated guide, they clearly could have used their discretion to provide it. Alternatively, they could have provided the general information I asked for which the supreme court were able to provide.

NOTE. The supreme court were able to provide the general information I was after (so a refusal based on being legal advice was incorrect).

Thanks for the feedback Lily. We value any customer feedback.

However, you requested legal help and information from the business, as opposed to trying to rely on your purchased kit. As stated in the terms and conditions on the website:

Quick Laws is an online legal resource whereby you can take care of your own simple legal affairs by using the technology available on the website to automatically generate the legal documents that you need. Quick Laws is not a law firm, legal practice, nor does it engage in legal practice of any kind. You are not receiving legal advice from Quick Laws.

I understand this can be frustrating. However Quick Laws always abides by its legal obligations. It's important to use the resources provided to you or, alternatively, to seek help from the appropriate body, such as the Probate Office or a Solicitor. Quick Laws will always refuse to provide this kind of help to anyone in accordance with its legal obligations.

Also, as stated in the download instructions, you need to save all the documents that you receive to your computer. You duly received your kit 12 months ago.

Angry people

I read the good reviews for this company which led me to check out their DIY Will kits with the intent to purchase. However, a simple question asking for a clarification on a point in their bullet point led to response along the lines of ‘cannot provide legal advice’, even when legal advice was not sought. When emailed to provide this feedback about the online correspondence, I received a similar email from the owner, who told me to take my business elsewhere & she was not interested in feedback. I tried to explain that I was not seeking legal advice but rather asking a general question on whether ‘de facto’ included same sex couples. A ‘yes’ or ‘no’ would have sufficed as I would assume one would be familiar with their own products and who can use it. I expected simple info on their product & how it works in general. Instead I was met with rude and defensive responses. They fixated on “we do not provide legal advice” & was unable to move from this despite no legal advice was ever asked. They seemed to go straight to ‘angry’ when I asked if de facto was applicable for same sex couples. Not your usual customer service experience.

Dear Jay

Thanks for the feedback.

Quick Laws sells DIY kits that contain general information and may not be specific to your circumstances. Quick Laws is not a law firm and is therefore unable able to tell you whether a kit will apply to your specific situation, in compliance with its strict legal obligations.

Quick Laws would love to be able to give people as much information as they require, however, there are certain legal restrictions in place which means that sometimes more detailed or specific information cannot legally be provided.

Abusive language is not tolerated by Quick Laws and all abusive calls will be terminated.

You have not made a purchase from the website and you are not a genuine customer, clearly violating TrustPilot's User Guidelines as found here https://legal.trustpilot.com/user-guidelines.

How easy it was to process Grant of Probate in South Australia

I was really impressed with how easy it was to follow your guidance and prepare the documentation required for applying for a grant of probate in South Australia.

However I would like to advise one important procedure which you have missed in your information.

You need to inform applicants that they need to print the documentation on A4 Bond Paper and each page needs to be numbered.

I had to go to the South Australian Probate Rules under Documents to find to correct procedure.

I hope this will help other individuals when processing their application for a Grant of Probate in South Australia
