Mr Deshmukh provided a great service with regard to my cataract surgery - from the initial consultation to the surgery to the post-op assessment. I highly recommend!

Mr Deshmukh carried out a cataract removal and an intraocular lens insertion operation in my left eye.

It has transformed how I see the world. I am amazed at what I can now see, and what I had been missing but hadn't realised!

I am blind in my right eye and have been since an illness during my childhood. Therefore, I had been scared of cataract surgery as the stakes felt high for me. As a result, I kept putting off the operation for as long as possible.

However, from the moment I contacted the hospital and was referred to Mr Deshmukh, the whole process went smoothly and efficiently and without any unnecessary stress. I was very impressed.

I would like to thank not only Mr Rajesh Deshmukh for the amazing result he has achieved for me but also the amazing team at Moorfields, especially Paula Jessop who has helped me throughout the entire process.

Exactly 3 weeks today, I underwent Cataract and vision correction surgery on both eyes at the same time at Moorfields, West End with Rajesh, and I could not be happier with the experience or the results! From my first consultation, Rajesh gave me complete confidence! I found him extremely professional, knowledgeable and reassuring, and he took time to explain the procedure, the options available and what I could realistically expect from the outcome. I never felt rushed and always felt that I was in exceptionally good hands. The surgery itself went extremely smoothly and the results have been fantastic! My vision has improved enormously and being able to see so clearly without reliance on glasses has made a remarkable difference to my everyday life. I would have no hesitation whatsoever in recommending Rajesh Deshmuk to anyone considering cataract or vision correction surgery.

Mr Deschmukh operated on my cataracts three years ago. The result was miraculous. With a previous plus 9 vision and very high astigmatism, I had needed glasses or contact lenses since I was four. After the surgery my long distance vision was 20/20, and I only needed reading glasses if I was working close up for long periods.
Just recently I developed posterior capsule opacification, which is a very common side effect of Cataract surgery. It had made my eyesight slightly misty, but after I had the laser treatment for this, a quick and painless procedure, my eyes were back to how they were after the cataract surgery.
Mr Deschmukh is not only highly skilled, he is also very kind and understanding. I was petrified having my first surgery, and he was reassuring and understanding, calmly and clearly explaining everything.

Mr Deshnukh operated on both eyes at once, meaning a shorter recovery time overall. I have been very pleased with the result and can recommend Mr Deshmukh without hesitation. I had both cataracts done at the same time and was extremely happy I went for this. Yes, there are more drops to manage but it is all over much more quickly! Mr Deshmukh's practice manager , Paula, is also very competent and responds quickly to any queries.

My vision is good after cataract surgery on both eyes with Dr Deshmukh, and I’m grateful for that outcome. But I can’t in good conscience leave this review without describing how he treated me as a patient.

Before my first surgery, he came into the room and I felt rushed through the whole interaction. When I asked about aftercare, he dismissed the question and said the nurses would go through it with me. They didn’t. I was left to work out my own aftercare without proper guidance after the first surgery. It was only before my second eye’s surgery that I was actually given a written list of post-care instructions, the kind of information that should have been given to me the first time round.

Later, at a post-operative appointment, Dr Deshmukh mentioned in passing that I might need a laser procedure in future, something I had never been told before surgery. When I asked questions about this, understandably concerned about my own eyes, he told me I was “too sensitive about my eyes” and compared me unfavourably to other patients. I wasn’t looking for sympathy, I was asking about my own health, and I was dismissed instead of answered.

Good surgical outcomes don’t excuse poor communication and dismissive behaviour toward patients raising legitimate concerns. If you’re considering this surgeon, know that the technical result may be fine, but be prepared to advocate hard for yourself, and don’t assume the aftercare information will be volunteered to you.

What an absolute game changer! Mr Deshmukh was recommended by a friend who required complex cataract surgery. Aged 47, my eyesight wasn't terrible but I required glasses for reading which meant for my job I spent a lot of time taking my glasses on and off and having not worn glasses for most of my life, I hated the fact that I couldn't read without them.
Mr Deshmukh listened and advised me on the best type of lenses to correct my vision whilst addressing my cataracts. I was fairly apprehensive about the surgery however Mr Deshmukh and his team put me at ease, the procedure was quick and straight forward, the recovery was smooth and by the next day I could read without glasses! Amazing!

I found a consultant very honest and knowledgeable. I had excellent service very good advice. I found him to be very good at this job.

Boom. Wow. My vision is so much better now. I had fairly serious cataracts and astigmatism, and Dr. Deshmukh has replaced my lenses. He selected fantastic lenses for my eyes and adjusted the focus points differently for each eye. Now my near, intermediate and far vision is perfect and I don't need glasses for reading, using my computer, or for driving. Colours are so sharp and the world seems brighter. Thanks to Dr. Deshmukh and his team at Moorfield's Hospital.

I have one “good” eye and one lazy eye, and both needed cataract surgery. In the lead up to the procedure I was extremely anxious, simply because I rely almost entirely on one eye for day to day vision. Mr Deshmukh approached my concerns with real understanding and sympathy. His professionalism and clear explanation of the options put me completely at ease.
I had expected each eye to be treated separately, but on his advice both were operated on at the same time. It turned out to be absolutely the right decision. The whole experience was calm, efficient and surprisingly stress free. Mr Deshmukh was supported by a professional and friendly team — from the anaesthetist to his excellent secretary Paula, and the nurses involved at every stage: tests, scans, pre op assessment and the operation itself.
Both the pre and post operative consultations with Mr Deshmukh were first class, with exactly the right amount of information, explanation and reassurance.
Having both eyes done together meant the recovery and medication phase lasted just four weeks, rather than two separate eight week cycles. The post op medication was comprehensive (the first two weeks involved 11 drops a day), but I was able to pass the driving sight test within 24 hours of surgery. My medium range vision returned quickly, and my close range vision is improving steadily. Reading is now easy with simple, inexpensive single strength reading glasses.
Moorfields itself was excellent, with everything running on time — apart from the day of surgery, when things were delayed because the anaesthetist had a puncture on the way to New Cavendish Street. Even then, there were plenty of drinks, snacks and updates, so no real complaints. These things happen… probably a pothole.
Overall, I can recommend Mr Deshmukh — and the Moorfields team — without hesitation.

I had cataract surgery for my both eyes at the same time. Sedation and local anaesthetics were used and it went very quickly; from the time I laid down until I came out from the surgery, it was only about one hour. I don’t remember much about the surgery, because of the sedation, it went very quickly.
I was able to see immediately after the surgery and went home within one hour. I followed the given instructions and my recovery was very quick. Within one week or so I was able to go back to my normal activities. I am definitely glad that I have both eyes done at the same time.
Now, after four weeks of surgery, my sight is much improved, for both near and far. One of the significant improvements after the surgery is that the uncomfortable feeling/strain that I had been feeling for ages has gone. The lens used for my eyes also corrected my astigmatism. The choice of the lens was perfect for me. I definitely recommend the surgery if you are wondering to have or not. I was wondering, actually until the day before the surgery, but now, I am very happy that I had it done.

When visiting London from the US, I had an emergency with one of my eyes which was swollen and bloody, and I could not see out of it. The Cleveland Clinic in London referred me to Moorfields Private Eye Hospital. Dr. Deshmukh saw me the same day. After examination and tests, he diagnosed my problem and prescribed drops. I saw Dr. Deshmukh for follow up appointments as well. My eye was greatly improved, and I continued the same treatment back in the US.
Both Dr. Deshmukh and his assistant Paula Jessup were kind, pleasant, and efficient. They put me at ease and acted swiftly. I would recommend them highly.

I was extremely apprehensive about having cataract surgery. Mr Deshmukh explained the various options and implications. Following the operation my vision is very good indeed and I’m able to start again some hobbies and activities. It’s been a very positive and transformative experience.

I'm more than happy to recomend Mr Deshmukh. The whole process from the initial consultation, through an assessment of visual acuity and measurement of intra-ocular pressure to the actual operation itself was friendly, supportive and highly competent and in my case doubly succesful. The fact that all my contacts with him and his team were at Bishops Wood Hospital, a small private hospital in Northwood, made my life a lot easier than it would have been going to Moorfields in London. Being informed that I required cataract surgery on both eyes initially filled me with fear. However, during my first meeting and throughout the entire process at Moorfields, Mr. Deshmukh made me feel comfortable and relaxed. The operation was completed in just 45 minutes, and the next day, my vision was perfect. I could legally drive within two days, though I waited until the fifth day to do so.
