A platform hijacked by badge-hungry…

A platform hijacked by badge-hungry veterans at the expense of genuine community voices

I joined Reddit/Sri Lanka to share meaningful content with my community. Recently I posted a heartfelt tribute to Sri Lanka's free ambulance service, Suwaseriya 1990, on r/srilanka, a post that received over 160 upvotes and genuine appreciation more than 25 appreciation comment from the community within a couple of hours.

However, a small but dominant group of so-called "Top Commenters" systematically attacked my post; not for its content or message, but for how it was written. They ran my text through AI detection tools and publicly shamed me, completely ignoring the awareness I was trying to raise about a life-saving public service.

This same group dominates the platform with their badges as weapons. They attack AI-assisted book covers, police other people's writing styles, and when blocked, they run to moderators with complaints. Moderators; without investigating the root cause just simply oblige these veterans, silencing genuine voices.

Reddit was built for community. Instead, certain subreddits have become the personal territory of aggressive long-timers who gatekeep what is "acceptable" — crushing new and meaningful contributors in the process.

Reddit's higher management needs to urgently review how badge systems empower bullying, and how moderators are failing their core responsibility of protecting genuine community participation.

A platform is only as good as the voices it protects — not the loudest ones it rewards.

…don't waste your time on reddit

It's a platform where there's no freedom. Everything you can write must be woke/feminist/progressive. If you deviate from mainstream thinking, your posts will be deleted (without anyone knowing), and if you persist, your account will be banned. Reddit is just one of the many tools for brainwashing with the delusional woke ideology.

Morally Corrupt Admins

Lousy support service
Appeals process is RNG (ignore or not ignore)
Tickets ARE ignored

They really don't care

They ban users without checking post history and whether the account was actually compromised (long term account)

Reddit is a cesspit run by morally corrupt admins

Problematic website with paternalistic policies and systematic suppression of dissent

Navigating on reddit is extremely problematic for the occasional user, which clashes with its high positioning in search results and is contradictory with the company's mission. Namely, this company brands itself as "The heart of the internet", yet it forces a series of choices upon users, which reflect a top-down paternalistic approach rather than seizing the "bottom-up" nature of the Internet it claims to represent. More specifically, Reddit profiles users by offering selective contents tailored for the region the IP belongs to. Sounds like advanced user-friendliness? Think again: this is devastating for multilingual users, as well as VPN users. The only way to switch that is to log in, meaning that basically if you do not belong to the user base, contents blend contradictory properties: freely available but, at the same time, available only in the way Reddit wants you to see them. Any service that parades itself as "free" should not, under any circumstances, override decisions embedded in the browser setting of the user by making cultural and linguistic decisions on behalf of the user. Even upon logging in and using the service is problematic: the upvotes and downvotes system appears to be designed for early addictiveness, but, at later stages, it fosters the creation of echo-chambers. There is also continuous and active suppression of dissent, to the point the popularity of a post becomes the only metric of quality... which is a sad no-no. Also, lack of *continuous* engagement prevents the user from having a say in threads that are of her interest. That is, even more striking: is "the Heart of the Internet" where you cannot intervene in a matter of interest because you have not engaged elsewhere? All the above point at a top-down controlled approach to Internet forums that does more harm than good.

Reddit esta corrupto

Reddit esta completamente mal, estan suspendiendo permanentemente mis cuentas por error porque piensan que estoy haciendo "Ban evasion", pero no es cierto. Ya tuve que mandar una apelación pero me la rechazaron. Reddit debe desaparecer inmediatamente.

Eliminen Reddit, terminen el fascismo.

The reddit moderators completely suck. I can’t voice my opinion without their stupid bot butting in with accusations of nonsense and removal of my participation comment based on their conservative terms because they are so precious. Who the f are you !! A bunch of losers?

Not a good experience

Reddit presents itself as a community-driven platform, but in practice it often feels inconsistent, unwelcoming, and poorly moderated. The appeal system, in particular, is frustrating and lacks transparency. Users are encouraged to submit appeals, yet responses can be dismissive or even hostile, with little indication that cases are genuinely reviewed.

Moderation varies wildly between subreddits, and in some cases feels more like personal gatekeeping than fair enforcement of rules. A single mistake can lead to permanent bans with no meaningful opportunity for reconsideration, regardless of how long ago the incident occurred or whether the user has changed their behaviour since.

What is most disappointing is the lack of basic respect in communication. Instead of constructive feedback or clear reasoning, responses can be abrupt and shut down any attempt at dialogue. This creates an environment where users feel disposable rather than part of a community.

Overall, Reddit has the potential to be a great platform, but the current moderation culture in some areas undermines that. Without more consistency, accountability, and a fairer appeals process, it is difficult to see it as a genuinely user-focused space.

If I could give it -10 Stars I would

If I could give it -10 Stars I would. It's either ran by some ignorant under developed AI or a bunch of introverts that have a lot of growing up to do. There was a video of a wife abusing her husband and he was just sitting there while she kept hitting him over and over in front of several others in the room. I left a comment that stated "Go on and whoop her and everybody in the room because they didn't care about him and neither did she" My account was suspended for threatening violence. How in the hell did I threaten anyone? Clearly their stupid AI doesn't understand the English language or there's some 12 year old running things.

The most vile website on the internet…

The most vile website on the internet and it is being used to train AI. Blatant censorship by corrupt mods and massive doses of leftist propaganda leading to disinformation and misrepresentations of reality; half of the comments are literal bots. Avoid this site like the plague, why has a viable alternative not been created yet? How did a website with a communist Gestapo moderator team become the preeminent 'discussion board'? Genuinely asinine

Reddit can still be a great resource but the moderators are biased

Reddit can still be a great resource, and I use it regularly, but it’s becoming increasingly frustrating. A lot of threads are filled with negativity or repetitive complaints, which takes away from meaningful discussion.
Moderation is another issue. It often feels inconsistent and, at times, biased depending on the community. Certain viewpoints seem to get amplified while others are quickly shut down, which can make discussions feel less open than they should be.
What stands out more over time is how much influence moderators have within individual communities. In some cases, it feels like moderation leans heavily in one direction, which can limit open dialogue and create an echo chamber effect.

There’s still good content if you dig for it, but it’s no longer the balanced, community-first platform it used to be.

DO NOT ADVERTISE ON REDDIT

The audacity on them to expect businesses to advertise. Reddit is TOXIC and have RUDE MODERATORS.

DO NOT ADVERTISE. The one that did a 10 minute sales call made no effort to ask or listen to potential customer's needs and was scripted the entire time.

Reddit may be good for seeing what others are talking about a product but nothing more.

DO NOT ADVERTISE

Impossible to post, broken for new users, no support — avoid Reddit

I can’t post anything on Reddit, not even about actual bugs or problems with the app itself — it just shows various error messages. Apparently, new users are heavily restricted, so you can’t share your own posts on any topic. They make you “earn karma,” but the only way to get karma is by posting — which you can’t do as a new user.

The site feels incredibly dumb and pointless. I honestly don’t understand why anyone still uses it. There’s no real support anywhere to contact if you run into issues. It’s frustrating, illogical, and completely user-unfriendly. Avoid wasting your time.”

Keine Kompetenz!

Been banned for no reason

Been banned for no reason!

I was browsing Reddit and replied to some posts, nothing special. I kept well within the rules (which are sometimes just to weird) and made sure I didn't replied to much within a period of time.

After a few days, I noticed my comments had just one view, while other comments had well over 100 views. Weird...
It also got a message saying "we encountered a service error..." or something. Also weird. Well, maybe it's just me.

Just to be sure it wasn't my browser, I opened a different browser and copy-pasted the link to my profile and BAM! This account has been banned.

No reason, no warnings, nothing. And that's the reason my comments didn't get any views; they weren't visible to others. While I could browser, post and comment on Reddit like any other, I was banned without notice.

I contacted the Reddit support about this, because I was sure I am not in the wrong here. I stayed civil, normal, no drama. Just trying to find some clarification... After 3 days, no reply.

One of the reasons I could be banned is because I need to use a VPN. And the reason for the VPN is that I live in a country where Reddit isn't really working. I have a Starlink too, but Reddit isn't working through a direct connection with the Starlink (HTTPS security issues). So I need to use VPN.
While Reddit claims to be supporting anonimity and accessible for everyone, I think this is just a joke.

Maybe we should ban Reddit, without reason, without notice... Just BAM; you're out.
