I was contacted by Redhawk Legal/ Elite Chambers, they informed me that I was in a Final salary pension and I should never have moved it into a SIPP, at the advice of my financial advisor, this transition was to enable the buying of a commercial property using my Final pension salary funds. I had bought such a property, only to find that it has dropped hugely in value. Becky from Redhawk Legal kindly took the time to understand my concerns and promptly filed a compensation case, she was extremely polite, very knowledgeable and professional; the case is now currently pending and each time I have queried the status of the claim, she has always endeavoured to provide me with an immediate update for which I am very grateful. My experience with Redhawk Legal has been great and reassuring, I highly recommend them!

I was sent an email from a Redhawk email address, no signature block, just a simple request to talk about my pension. I assumed at that point it was a scam of some sort, but given they clearly had some of my details, I decided to reply and asked who he was and how he got the information. He replied stating he was not an employee, but was representing Redhawk Legal and wanted to try to help me get compensation due to bad financial advice I'd been given relating to two pension transfers, given to me by a company that had gone into liquidation.

A couple of phone calls were done, during which I was told that they had been successful in a huge number of claims against the company which gave me advice. A very strong sales pitch. He told me how the fees would work, verbally advising that there would be no fees unless the claim was successful and then they would be at a fixed %age.

He then sent me two contractual documents from a gmail address, the originating party who had signed them was neither himself nor Redhawk Legal, but instead, a third party (barrister).

I had issues with the documents, partly because another client details rather than mine were on them, partly as they were very poorly written, with conflicts between the documents (different clauses relating to how fees were paid - one saying %, the other an hourly rate) and no order of precedence. Also, where the one document addressed fees as a %age, they were very different from the numbers the Redhawk "rep" had quoted.

Revised documents were received with my client details included, but no other issues above resolved. After me chasing up by email on the other issues, the Redhawk Legal "rep" called and explained that I should not worry about signing a contractual document with a 3rd party with a higher fee %age than he had advised me verbally.

Again I asked if he was really telling me it would be OK to sign up to such a document with someone else. He asked to set up a call to discuss, but then failed to make the call.

At this point, I could only conclude that at best, the whole thing was very unprofessional. At worst this was some form of scam where I would be on the hook to a third party to higher fees and the "rep" was taking commission on the higher fees while having got me on the hook with a verbal promise of lower fees. Either way, I bowed out and did not respond further.

Research online into the history of the parties involved did not make for a comforting read.
I cannot paste in a link, but a search on thisismoney.co.uk, an article by Tony Heatherington about PPI claims made me believe I did the right thing in pulling away.

On this basis, although they did not do any work for me, I would give them the lowest rating.

Redhawk follow-up to my review was swift, professional and courteous:

"The person in question did work for our firm however, he is no longer employed by us. It does appear he has reached out to you using a work email and then sent a DocuSign via his private email which is something we do not permit.

After this review, we have taken steps internally to ensure that things like this cannot happen in the future.

Redhawk Legal takes pride in helping clients connect with firms who can assist them in pursuing claims for compensation arising from financial mis-selling and we do not under any circumstances cold call.

It is not clear what internal controls could have allowed such a thing to happen, and exactly what has changed since but I did appreciate Redhawk following-up and adjusted my rating to reflect this.

Very professional friendly and thorough. Made me feel at ease from the very start and so reassuring.

When I almost lost my hopes due to a financial fraud which I am a victim of, Redhawk bought that little light back in my life. It’s still a very early stages but the care and the service provided by Redhawk so far it’s impressive.

My whole experience with Redhawk Legacy has been a well organised process, treated with respect and understanding,never patronised or made to feel stupid by not understanding the ins and outs of the legal jargon, I would whole heartedly recommend Redhawk to anyone if asked to, especially a young man called Ashley, a credit to the company, I feel my case will be handled with the up most professionalism and discretion, whatever the outcome.

They were easy to deal with. Friendly and efficient, explaining everything in a easy understandable way.

Unresponsive and unreliable. Re. the Westway case, a guy called Asxxx promised to call me back at a certain time after I sent him a document, but he didn't bother. Just another liar. When they call, they do that with hidden number.

They seem to be on the ball when processing this through the system.Easy talking to them .Everything was explained to what goes on.Let’s hope the claim goes through alright.
