AVOID THIS CAR RENTAL COMPANY – DISHONEST AND UNPROFESSIONAL!
Initially, everything seemed fine, but midway through our rental, the driver was changed without notice. While in the car, I overheard the owner instructing the driver to lie to customers and say his daughter was ill and he needed to go home. The owner then gave me the same excuse. I believe he was trying to free up our Prado for another customer because he had overbooked and didn’t have enough vehicles. When I insisted I had paid for the Prado and didn’t want a different car or driver, he called the next day claiming the car had been in an accident and needed replacing.
The petrol situation was equally suspicious. Despite making journeys of around 10 minutes, half a tank kept disappearing, and I was refuelling every other day. The owner accidentally revealed that the accident had happened while picking up an airport client using our car. The driver who dropped us at the airport also confirmed that the vehicles were being used for airport transfers in the mornings and evenings while customers had them booked during the day. This explains the excessive fuel consumption. It appears customers’ petrol is being used for other journeys, leaving them to pay the bill. Please read the negative reviews; I wish I had!
The worst part was our airport transfer. I had specifically paid for a Prado because we had five large suitcases. The owner demanded Rs. 23,500 for petrol for the supposedly crashed car, which I had filled up just two days earlier. He provided no photograph of the fuel gauge but insisted on payment before sending a replacement.
I clarified four times, with my husband present, that this amount was for petrol only and there were no other charges. Yet he kept insisting on collecting the money the night before, even though our airport pickup was the following morning. He said the driver would arrive at 10:30 am but someone would collect the money at 9 am. Given his previous behaviour, I refused to pay in advance and wanted to ensure the driver actually turned up.
When the car arrived, it was a small car, not the Prado we had paid for! Our suitcases wouldn’t fit because he had apparently given our vehicle to someone else. Knowing we had no choice but to get to the airport, he then said he would send a second small car but suddenly demanded additional charges and petrol money for the journey. I was effectively held to ransom after already paying the disputed petrol amount.
We also discovered that the company appears to overbook vehicles and use customers’ cars for additional hotel and airport transfers, sometimes involving journeys of around 40 minutes each way.
An absolutely awful, stressful experience. The owner is now not answering my brother-in-law’s calls either. Please be warned and avoid this company. Based on my experience, I would not trust this service. Be sure to check the negative reviews before booking!
