Great product. Awful customer service.

If you receive the actual products that you ordered in a reasonable amount of time, you'll likely be very happy with your purchase. The products are pretty pricey, and as others note, there's a significant break-in period where the fabric can feel fairly stiff, but I'd consider it a great investment overall.

However, if anything goes wrong, and you have to contact customer service for any reason, be prepared to walk away wanting nothing to do with the company any more. They really need more competent staff that can communicate better. I ended up returning all but one item out of frustration - luckily, receiving a refund in a reasonable amount of time. I likely would have supported the company further by ordering more products if I didn't have such an awful experience. I hope they get things together, for their sake.

Big delay, reluctant replies and service

I placed an order for two flat sheets mid April. They are part of the made-to-order line so I fully expected 2-3 week fabrication lead time. Those 2-3 weeks came and went with no word. I emailed once, no reply. Emailed again, received a reply overnight reminding me of the 2-3 week period, saying they were experiencing unforeseen delays, and offering me $10 voucher if I wanted to cancel.

I essentially said I'm fine waiting but I'm not fine with being in the dark. I pointed out they were currently running a sale and that the Orkney flat sheet was currently on their best seller list. I asked if all new purchases would be subject to this delay and if they were proactively notifying customers. It is a bad look to have a month-long unforeseen delay on a best seller.

They replied saying that my order was shipping immediately. How convenient!

They were running a Memorial Day sale at the time with the Orkney flat sheet discounted below what I paid. Customer service said that they couldn't price adjust my order because it wasn't placed within the Memorial Day timeframe.

This company is shady - they need to be prodded to fulfill their commitments. Those searching for high quality linen, try Thomas Ferguson's Irish Linen instead.

Almost 2 months no item no updates

Almost 2 months no item no updates, just automated AI response after sending multiple emails about my order. I have just been scammed out of $300. Never patronizing them again!

Ordered a 6 foot orkney table runner in…

Ordered a 6 foot orkney table runner in natural. Took 2 months to get it after emailing twice. Bought to match an Orkney natural duvet I’d bought 3 years ago. Finally received it and the color was totally different. The material felt more like their St. Barts line. Not heavy like my duvet. Totally disappointed with the customer service and the runner. Sent it back. Disappointed that they are not made in the USA, but are coming from India.

We're so sorry to hear that your table runner did not meet your expectations. Our Natural linen is completely undyed and therefore can have shade variations between batches. We believe this is part of the charm of natural linen, a little bit of nature in every piece.

Our Orkney linen is the same robust 7.7 oz/sq.yd., though we have made some updates based on customer feedback and refined it to be a bit softer.

Lastly, I’d like to assure you that our headquarters remain in California. Depending on the fabric color and size, your product may be manufactured in either California or India. That said, every item is crafted from the same 100% European Flax linen, so you can always count on the quality and care that goes into each piece.

Where is the negative star review…

Where is the negative star review option! I ordered 2/7/26. After a month I emailed and asked about my order. First reply said it's in production and they would let me know when it ships. Shortly after another email says they checked and it's completed the process and will be delivered in 7-10 days. Crickets!
Yesterday I sent another message asking why I haven't received order if it was finished and shipped. And, if I should cancel order or call credit card company to dispute since they have had payment since order was placed. Today I received refund to CC and an email full of blah blah blah. Horrible customer service. Can't speak to the quality because like many others, I never received my order. And I was insulted with a 15.00 offer on my next order. LOL why would a paltry discount make me want to go through this disappointment again? Don't waste your time or money.

I was once a devoted fan, no longer.

I was once a devoted fan. All was well. Lately, without any proper explanation, the company communicates poorly and is highly delayed with orders. I knew there would be some wait with my recent, very carefully chosen order that took me ages to make. I was finally able to use a $50 credit and was very excited about receiving my new items. I was told 2 - 3 weeks for arrival. Okay, I was prepared for that. Three weeks passed without word from RL. I contacted them about my order status. I got a long politicians response with no ETA. I wasn't happy. I gave them two weeks. They responded with "we currently anticipate your order will reach you in mid April". THEY were the ones who initially informed us of the 2 - 3 weeks. They didn't fulfill their end of the deal or even communicate about the change. I can no longer recommend them as a company. My order was made Feb 12, 2026. It's March 11th. I have at least another month of waiting. I'm cancelling my order.

Don’t Make the Mistake of Giving Rough Linen Your Business

My review would be zero stars if possible. This review is long, but it contains information you should absolutely know if you’re inclined to make the mistake I did, and give Rough Linen any of your business.
Awhile back I had puchased a set of sheets, the delivery of which was delayed for a very long time. To compensate for this, I was promised 15% off a future puchase, and told I would receive a code for that, which I never did. This offer also listed no stipulations or exclusions, it was “15% off your next order” pure and simple.
When I did finally find a set of sheets I wanted to purchase and apply the 15% discount to, I was told it wouldn’t be honored in its entirety as the sheets were already on sale for 9% off, so I would only be given an additional 6% off. Note this supposed 9% off sale price has been listed for well over a year, and is in fact, just the regular price. This practice is in violation of California law (where they’re located).
I settled for this as the extremely unhelpful customer service representative Anna, that I dealt with throughout this entire process, wouldn’t budge, and I wanted the sheet set.
Once the sheet set came, they had an enormous run in the fitted sheet. This run is very large and significant, and it makes sleeping on that part of the sheet very uncomfortable.
When I contacted customer service regarding this, once again having the misfortune of having to deal with Anna, I was told they were out of stock of that sheet set in that color. Shortly after that, I received an email touting “A Grand Restock Event” that specifically showed the sheet set in the color I had purchased was back in stock. When I once again contacted customer service, I was told by the ever unhelpful Anna that there was a “small error” on their part and that this color wasn’t in fact back in stock, and that my only alternative was to select a different color fitted sheet as a replacement, rendering the sheet set no longer a sheet set, or a refund, which if I accepted, would then cost me more to purchase the sheet set in the future as the discount I was originally given would not be honored again. And for good measure, I was reminded in the email that I only had 30 days after receiving the sheets to make a decision or lose any rights to a refund or exchange…even though an exchange isn’t possible because they supposedly don’t have the product, even after they touted it as being restocked. This false advertising and bait and switch tactic is also in violation of California law. I asked for a more reasonable solution of waiting to have the fitted sheet exchanged once it came back in stock, even if it was beyond the 30 days as it was their mistake both in sending the damaged sheet, and in stating that it was back in stock. This request was never addressed. And after I pointed out that the way they conduct business appears to be in violation of California law, all contact was ceased and I never received a response or remedy.
I’ve read that they were bought by Interweave Logistics a couple years ago, and that their customer service has absolutely cratered after that; my experience with them has unfortunately proved that to absolutely be the case. They’ve destroyed a once good company that produced a quality product, and absolutely obliterated its reputation.
So in short, if you’re a TLDR type person, or in summation if you have read all this; if you wish to do business with a company that will take every opportunity to shortchange and cheat you, send you a defective product, refuse to make things right, and act in complete disregard for, and in violation of, California law, this is definitely where you want to shop. If not, check out any number of other quality linen providers that will actually stand by their product and provide good customer service, because Rough Linen most definitely no longer fits that description. So now my only option is to file a complaint with the Better Business Bureau and the Marin County District Attorney’s Consumer Protection Unit if I hope to get any remedy at all.

I ordered a linen robe on 1/31/2026

I ordered a linen robe on 1/31/2026, and it still hasn't arrived. After sending them an email, I received one note saying it will take 2-3 weeks; I then sent two more emails with no reply. It's been almost 6 weeks. Is this company real, a scam, or just bad customer service? PLEASE HELP CUSTOMER SERVICE????

This is an update to my previous review in December, 2025.
Rough linen did reply to my request about when my order would arrive. (I ordered a duvet cover in November, 2025). I was told it would arrive in February, and was given a token $5.00 towards a purchase on their web site. Now, in February, after still not hearing from them, I submitted another request and was told that it would be March when my order arrives.( Although now Im not sure that I believe them.)
I have been told that Rough linen has wonderful products. But they are not honest when you order from them about how long it will take to arrive. They state it will take 2-3 weeks. If they had been honest with me from the beginning about the shipping time, I would not be upset, as it would have been my choice to wait so long for my purchase to arrive. Many companies manage to do this when you order from them.
I was given the choice to cancel my order, but I really would love to have this duvet cover! But I will not order from them again due to the long (undisclosed) wait for the order to arrive.
Again, honesty from them about the shipping time when I first placed the order would have saved me this disappointment. And it would have saved them the time it has taken to respond to my emails.

I ordered April 2025, it's now DECEMBER.

I ordered an Apron in April 2025. It's now DECEMBER 2025 and I haven't received anything. I've been constant in my inquiries with them and I get the same copy and paste reply. " All our items are handcrafted with utmost care to ensure quality" but then nothing is ever done about it. So what, all orders after mine were placed in April haven't been sent out either? Shouldn't there be a priority sequence? At that rate it must've taken 10 years just to make all the items to post on their website. And it's just an apron... Even when they told me they didn't have stock in the colour I originally chose and to get one out to me faster if I chose a different fabric colour...I did that. Chose a different fabric colour and it's STILL not here. No matter what their response on here is or other fake reviews don't believe them. This is not a good company and if they can't fulfill the needs of the business like shipping out orders, maybe it should've be a company and just absolve itself. Thanks for nothing, Nora.

Quality and Lies

I cannot argue with the quality of their linen but I had to knock stars off because their website does everything to make you think their products are made in the USA when in fact they’re just importing them from India at a large markup.

Not Trustworthy

I ordered an apron from this company on September the 28th and my credit card was charged this was with the purchase but there has been no communication from these people about when my order will ship!!
I am sure they have had more than enough time to fix this problem. Don’t advertise if you can’t communicate to the buyer. This Oder was placed through the SHOP app.

I love the feel of these towels and the…

I love the feel of these towels and the color is so saturated. I have washed them and they come out of the dryer looking soft and ready to hang. I use the napkins for washcloths, the kitchen towels for and towels and the bath towels in my new spa bathroom and it was the final touch in the remodel of an old outdated 1960's primary bathroom. All in all it is a great product at a reasonable price. I took a star off for the lag time between ordering and receiving the products. It did not affect me as I have plenty of towels but I did start to wonder if they would ever come. When they did, I felt that the quality and beauty of them made it worth the wait.

No one else has linen in these colors

No one else has linen in these colors. Gorgeous, vibrant and very high quality fabric. They look great on my bed and feel smooth and soft when cuddled into them. My partner and I are very happy and will definitely order from the rough linen folks again. A solid recommend to anyone looking for nice linen sheets.

Heirloom Quality

I’ve been a Rough Linen customer over 7 years and I can attest to the fact that this company stands behind their products. Not only is their customer service superior and friendly, their linen is equal to what they offer. Quality and heirloom products seem hard to come by these days, spending money on products we want as consumers to last us a long time. When I buy Rough Linen I know I’m buying something special. I’ve gifted Rough Linen to family with nothing but praise. Do yourself a favor, splurge and treat yourself to the joy of linen.

Love these sheets

Love these sheets. Very generous in size, the same size as my bedspreads so the turndown looks great. They are very long lasting. Much better size and quality than other brands I’ve tried. Have bought them for over 12 years.
