SAMi is a wearable-free nighttime movement monitor appropriate for all ages. Often used by individuals with Epilepsy, Traumatic Brain Injuries, and other seizure-related disorders, it was purpose-built for parents, caregivers, and individuals who need to watch carefully for abnormal movement at night without compromising their sleep. The device can be configured to alert to both rhythmic (repetitive) and non-rhythmic movement in the face, extremities, or full body movements, even when someone is under bed covers or in a crib. SAMi is customizable so you can choose how much motion SAMi should look for, and how long to wait until setting off the alarm. The device can also automatically record HD video/audio of any motion throughout the night, which can be reviewed or shared with a doctor. When abnormal movement is detected, the SAMi app triggers the alarm and displays live video + audio, so the caregiver can determine if action is needed. The device works in complete darkness and does not require any internet connection to function. It supports up to 4 people monitoring at once, either remotely or in the home, and can be taken with you when traveling. The camera is cumbersome and difficult to set up. I would advise anyone thinking of purchasing to look elsewhere. Not worth the hours you will spend trying to set up and then maintain.
We have had this unit for about 18 months now. I bought this to monitor for possible seizures for my son as he sleeps. The idea is good but the implementation is poor. It works by monitoring movement and if the movement continues for a time (that you can set) it will trigger an alarm on the ipad connected via wifi to the camera. The problem with this is that it does not separate a fit from normal movement. As my son moves a lot in the night, it constantly goes off, if you then set the movement threshold to stop this, it doesn't detect a fit. What it needs to do is to separate slow normal movements from repetitive fast movements and it cannot do this. It is just a software fix, and there are lots of cases where this has been done and it should be obvious to anyone with any engineering and software skills how to do it.
No where on the box or on downloading the app was information provided that I would have to sign up for a one year Cloud subscription. That showed up three days after installing the camera.
In the FAQ sections they clearly stated that a 1 year Free Cloud subscription was included. However, when I contacted customer service I got an email saying that it was an old offer and they offered me 30% off my first years subscription.
Whatever happened to honouring what you wrote on your FAQ.
I could not recommend this company.

I do want to clarify one important point: SAMi does not have any cloud service or subscription at all, and we don’t require any monthly or annual fees for our system to work. All monitoring with SAMi functions using the equipment you purchase; there’s no separate cloud plan to sign up for.
Because we don’t offer a cloud subscription (and have never sold a “1-year cloud subscription” for SAMi), it sounds like there may be a mix-up with another camera brand, app, or service that was part of your setup. That would also mean the FAQ and “old offer” you were shown likely weren’t from SAMi.
We absolutely agree that companies should honor what they write, which is why we take claims like this very seriously. If you believe this interaction was with our team, please reach out to us directly at [support email/phone] with a screenshot of the FAQ and the subscription message you saw so we can investigate fully.
Either way, we’re genuinely sorry for the stress this situation has caused you, and we’d really like the chance to help clear it up.
We love our SAMi camera. It picks up the slightest movement and we can rest better knowing we will be alerted to any seizures our daughter has while sleeping. It has also been a valuable tool in seeing how well she is resting at night. I’m amazed at how clear the video is and how sensitive it is, we are so thankful for it.
