Hugh is an amazing maths tutor
Hugh is an amazing maths tutor. He’s given my son the confidence boost he needed ahead of sitting his GCSE Maths exams, helping him break down areas he was struggling with into manageable chunks and therefore not overwhelming him. My son absolutely loved their sessions together and chatting about all sorts with Hugh in-between doing Maths work. I really can’t recommend him highly enough - he’s the perfect tutor for anxious / neurodiverse high functioning adolescents, giving them a safe and predictable learning environment. Thank you so much Hugh!
Lisa is an excellent teacher
Lisa is an excellent teacher. She put my daughter at ease after many years of being out of school and is very knowledgeable about her subject. I would highly recommend her to others based on my daughter's experience. She communicated really well with me in understanding my daughter's needs and really got it. Thank you!
GCSE English tutor - would recommend
Emily has been a great tutor for my teenage son Finn who is EOTAS educated. She is a very knowledgeable English Language and English Literature teacher at the GCSE level. Lessons are always well organised and well-prepared. Emily always responds promptly to any correspondence and wrote a valuable report for an Annual Review when requested. Would recommend.
I have my daughter back!
My daughter, now aged 19, had been out of education for 19 months before we started tuition with Sarah.
My daughter has a learning disability, severe anxiety, demand avoidance traits and other challenges.
Sarah's skill and patience in the first months to explore different approaches was astounding. Gradually trust was built and eventually we had our first breakthrough when my daughter sat up and engaged. From there we saw considerable progress – it was as if a
door had been unlocked.
Maintaining progress requires constant flexibility and adaptation. What works one day may
not be successful the next, or even within the same session. Every challenge is dealt with proactively and in a caring and holistic way which prioritises the needs of the young person allowing her to flourish.
I have my daughter back! Although we still have a long way to go, we have laughter, engagement and support to know that we will be able to meet the next challenge.
Sarah, the most fantastic tutor!
Sarah has been the most fantastic tutor for our son. She has been tutoring him for six years since he had difficulties at school following a brain tumour. His confidence was at an all time low when she first met him, but he slowly began to come out of his shell and actually enjoys some aspects of learning now. His confidence and resilience has grown and he is taking on board all of Sarah’s fantastic guidance and techniques for his up -coming GCSE’s. He always looks forward to his sessions with Sarah and when I asked him he said he would give her 101 out of 100! His Father and I would too. His transformation has been truly remarkable with her and we are very grateful.
Superb tutor for SEND
Lisa has been a superb tutor to a year 6 autistic pupil, S, who also has hypermobility. She has always been professional and keen to get things right from the start. We met before she started working with S on our school site and she really listened to what I hoped for and the approach I wanted her to take. She took everything on board, was happy to read documentation to really understand S’s needs better and then implemented it brilliantly. We have seen a significant improvement in attendance since, and more importantly in the positivity of S to being at school. Lisa ensured a relationship was built with S very quickly, recognising the importance of this for future success. Thank you so much Lisa.
Lizzie D - EOTAS COORDINATOR
Lizzie is our EOTAS coordinator and my daughter’s learning mentor, and she has been nothing short of phenomenal.
Her knowledge of the local authority, EOTAS provision, education, tutoring and school systems is exceptional. Equally impressive is her ability to build relationships with young people who have experienced significant trauma around education.
My daughter is 14, has a PDA and ADHD profile, and had been out of school for several years. During that time she met well over 40 professionals, therapists, tutors and support workers. Despite the best intentions of many of them, none were able to build the level of trust and connection that Lizzie has achieved.
Lizzie instinctively understands pace. She knows when to move things forward, when to pause, how to look ahead and how to turn plans into reality. She navigates schools, local authorities, tutors, young people and families with a calm confidence that comes from genuine expertise and experience.
She has guided us through every challenge, helping us feel understood and supported even when the journey felt overwhelming. Most importantly, she has played a huge role in restoring my daughter’s faith in adults and education.
Thanks in no small part to Lizzie’s support, my daughter has successfully re-engaged with school and is now open to incorporating tutoring alongside school — something she had previously been completely opposed to. Until Lizzie had that conversation with her, the idea would have seemed impossible. The trust and understanding Lizzie built made what felt unattainable become achievable, which is nothing short of a miracle.
I will always be grateful that Joanna, CEO of Sensational, brought Lizzie into our lives. The impact she has had on our family cannot be overstated.
I genuinely cannot sing Lizzie’s praises highly enough. The only downside to writing this review is that Lizzie is already incredibly busy, and we’re hoping to keep her for the foreseeable future!
Genuine understanding of PDA
Melissa has been working with our son for a few years now and she has been great. She has a genuine understanding of PDA and adapts her approach to meet his individual needs, so learning happens naturally and in a way that feels safe, engaging, and achievable for him.
She uses an instinctive child led appoach. Rather than imposing demands, she follows his interests and builds trust. She is patient, flexible, and highly skilled at recognising when he is reaching his limits and adjusting as needed, ensuring that sessions remain positive and productive.
She has developed a strong, respectful relationship with our son. He feels understood, valued, and comfortable in her presence.
We would highly recommend her to any family seeking a tutor who truly understands PDA and embraces a child-centred approach to education.
Pippa has been fantastic
Our son has ASC and ADHD. We had battle after battle with the education system, but with it being so poor, our son never went to secondary school. For year 11, the LA funded tutoring. You can imagine the feeling of disillusionment in our son at this time. We found Pippa through SenSational Tutors and wondered what would become of it.
What an incredible person Pippa is! She is also an experienced careers advisor. She put life into perspective, encouraged, and as a result engaged our son. He wanted to learn and did GCSE Business Studies; Level 2 Functional Skills Maths & English; Level 1 Digital Skills.
The impact on our son has been transformational. Before he wouldn't consider college - now he has a place and a feeling of self-worth! Despite the obvious drawback of not having been to school, Pippa has helped to make him feel that he is the same as everyone else and should have the same chances, if he works for it. Her skills came at an incredibly important time in our son's schooling and self confidence and she has single handedly enabled him to move on with his education.
Naturally we have only high praise for Pippa and would highly recommend her.
Focus and Speech and Language Development Support
I have a four year old that has speech and language delay and lacks focus. We were concerned that he may face challenges when starting school so we sought out Sensational Tutors who found an outstanding tutor to help support him. Loretta has been working with our son for 2 months and he has come on so much in that time. Loretta was brilliant from the start, spending time with me first to understand his development areas and interests and as a result, within the first session she built trust with him. Initially Loretta took a child led approach which meant our son was fully engaged with Loretta and Loretta has since adapted slightly introducing more teacher led activities. My son’s focus has increased, he is talking more fluently and appears greater in confidence. Every week she provides reports which I share with his nursery, so her techniques can be replicated at the nursery and we keep a consistent approach in helping him meet his developmental needs. I could not be more pleased and would highly recommend Loretta and Sensational Tutors.
The tutoring that my child has received…
The tutoring that my child has received through Sensational Tutors has surpassed my expectations. Alex has provided totally bespoke, expert, varied and fun sessions. My daughter who is non verbal is calm and happy and starting to regain some of the skills that she had lost over previous years. Alex tunes in to her needs in the moment and adapts accordingly to keep my daughter engaged. This is impressive and not always easy and I would really recommend Alex and Sensational Tutors.
Fantastic Support from Jane
Jane has been fantastic with our daughter and we are very grateful for her support, patience and understanding throughout.
She immediately made us feel comfortable and has always approached things in a calm, thoughtful and professional manner. We have seen really positive progress and increased confidence over time, and it has been reassuring to have someone who genuinely understands our child’s needs.
We would highly recommend Jane and the SENsational Tutors team to any family looking for specialist support.
I would like to share a positive review…
I would like to share a positive review with this company and in particular Jess who has worked, what I believe to be, over and beyond any expectations, for our family.
Always flexible and accommodating.
Highly recommended.
Great tutor
We started with Stuart at Sensational Tutors in September 2025 for face-to-face sessions with our son. Finding the right tutor was incredibly important to us, particularly as our son needed a calm, gentle male tutor who could truly understand and support complex needs including dyslexia, ADHD, ASC, and complex learning difficulties.
From the very beginning, Stuart ticked all the boxes. We were initially unsure whether our son would manage two-hour sessions in one go, but this has not been a challenge at all. Stuart works at the child’s pace and ability level, creating a supportive and encouraging environment where our son feels comfortable and able to engage.
Communication with parents has also been excellent, helping ensure our child is happy, settled, and making progress. Having the wider Sensational Tutors team supporting things in the background has been hugely reassuring too.
We would fully recommend both Stuart and Sensational Tutors to other families looking for understanding, specialist support for children with additional needs.
Outstanding experience
I came to Sensational Tutors after feeling lost about how best to support my son, recently diagnosed with dyslexia. The support from the agency in matching us with the right tutor (Jess) was brilliant.
Jess has been wonderful with our son - she structures her sessions with him really carefully to ensure he is engaged, challenged and consolidating his learning in school. She even plays football with him after every session as a reward as she knows that's his passion! Additionally Jess is great at supporting my son's self esteem and started an 'achievements' board which they add to often. This includes sporting achievements, academic achievements and whatever else my son is proud of.
At one point Jess suggested my son showed some signs of inattentiveness which prompted me to pursue an ADHD assessment. I had suspected this for a while but Jess' gentle feedback finally got me to act. This recent diagnosis means my son was added to the school's SEN register and receives much better support at school.
Jess is caring, committed and passionate about both teaching and her students' mental health. I would strongly recommend Jess and Sensational Tutors.

Highly experienced private tutor with a passion for education and helping students reach their goals we grew such a great bond with Ella over the time we had her as Jesse’s tutor and she will be greatly missed
Caroline is an outstanding tutor
Caroline is an outstanding tutor. She connected quickly to gain the trust of my daughter (15). Caroline has taken our daughter from a predicted 1 in English GCSE to a predicted 4 over the last 6 months. Her lessons are structured, goals for the session are clearly set out, they are delivered in a calm and connected way. I would highly recommend her and SENsational Tutors to other parents.
Would definitely recommend
James has been an excellent tutor so far. He has spent time building a rapport with my son which is crucial to putting him at ease. From the first session James listened to what he said found difficult, and observed what he didn't say(!) and has tailored engaging sessions based on this. Thank you James.
Exceptional EOTAS coordination
My daughter has been out of school for an extended period. She is supported through an EHCP by a multi-disciplinary team and has an EOTAS package of therapies and online schooling, with the aim of gradually transitioning back into a school setting.
I have felt fully supported by SENsational Tutors throughout. Communications are clear and the staff highly responsive.
As EOTAS coordinator, Lizzie has been exceptionally reliable, diplomatic, and well organised in overseeing what is a complex blended school/EOTAS arrangement: leading MDT meetings and liaising with professionals, the school SENCO, and our Local Authority. She is a caring, empathetic and warm person as well a diligent and experienced professional.
Lizzie has been an exceptional advocate for my daughter and I would recommend both her and SENsational Tutors to anyone looking for support in managing their EOTAS packages.
Sylwia has been working with our 5 year…
Sylwia has been working with our 5 year old autistic son since January and we are so impressed with how well she engages him to settle and focus week on week. Our son may also have PDA and the way Sylwia plans her lessons specifically to his interests is inspiring. When the doorbell rings, he now sits at the desk ready to study.
