Serious Lights for Serious Readers. Daylight reading lights for people who want to see detail and colour without straining to see.
Reading gets harder in the evening, and most people put that down to their eyes. Often it is the light. An ordinary bulb or LED is built on a blue chip, so it looks white while leaving gaps across the spectrum, and your eyes work to fill them in. You get glare across the room while the small print stays hard work. Daylight has no gaps in it, which is why reading by a window on a clear morning is easy.
What a Serious Light does
Rebuilding daylight indoors is the only thing we have done for forty years. Daylight Wavelength Technology™ reaches 98 per cent colour accuracy across the full spectrum, and an HD Original puts up to 7,200 lux on your page at 50cm, which is about twelve times the light you get from an ordinary 60 watt bulb at the same distance. The beam adjusts from a paperback to a full broadsheet, and the dimmer remembers the setting you read by.
The range
We make floor lamps, table lamps and wall-mounted reading lights, in Black and Heritage White. The HD Pro is the most adjustable, with a flexible arm, a remote handset and a cordless option. The HD Original is the one most people choose. The HD Essential is the simplest mains light we make. The HD Mini and the HD ROAM are cordless and portable, for reading nowhere near a socket. The HD Original and HD Essential are hand-built in Aylesbury, around fifty a day.

Great firm. I ordered 11 bulbs. They sent me 9. I phoned them. They checked. They sent me 2 more. No fuss, no quibble. By the way, Integral LED bulbs are rated as highly as the most reliable brands, but at just under half the price, A well-kept British secret.

Good information available before choosing lamp. Straightforward purchase process and good communication.
Light from the lamp makes reading and handicrafts easier and eyes are not strained.

Only weakness was in delivery, where despite clear instructions on box to "leave round the back" if no one in, the box (and the previous one a few days earlier) was left on front doorstep which is right on roadsid No prior warning of approx delivery time or day either!

Great light
Great light which sits perfectly under back of sofa giving light above seat. As there is no socket close by the fact that it is cordless is perfect. I can predict I will be getting another one for using my sewing machine.

Fantastic product, impeccable service
Absolutely incredible customer service from Helen, one of their Customer Service Advisors; the whole process was so genuine and pleasant. To be honest, I've never experienced better Customer Service in my entire life! The lights themselves really are uniquely high-quality. Previously I would always get slightly uncomfortable and strained reading at night, I'd get fidgety and could never settle to read for long because my eyes got so fatigued. Now I turn on the lamp and open my book and don't even realise until an hour later that I've just been reading the whole time. Truly wonderful! The dimmer functionality is also incredible if you can be a bit sensitive to light — you can start low, and then once you settle in, turn it up. Life-changing!!

Everything done with thought and care
Prompt delivery - not entirely in a company's control, but they have to have done their bit right to achieve it. Very nicely and helpfully packaged product, best job I have ever seen of this. Product easy to use and instructions clear. So far, so good with its performance and usability. I haven't yet put it to the test with cross-stitch but I think it's going to just what I needed.
