DO NOT buy from this company! Deceitful business practices. They will prompt you for a coupon on their website and using a coupon will make your purchase ineligible for returns! This dress is not worth the high price tag! Save your money or purchase a true high end brand that doesn’t deceive their customers into using a coupon to ultimately steal their money!

I purchased both lengths of the Sheer brand dresses. I did not realize until after the purchase that there was no easy way to return the items if they didn't work. Well, they did not work for me. Instead of hiding my apron belly, like most shapewear and like I was hoping these dresses would do for me, both accentuated it. I made SEVERAL attempts to return the items by contacting the comapny. None of my emails were returned. So, I'm stuck with two dresses that do not work for me and am out over $600. Avoid this brand.

You may have seen those ads all over Insta and Facebook for "The Sculpting Midi Dress" or "The Sculpting Mini Dress", which Sheer the Brand (Sheer LLC) says has Shapewear and a Bralette Built Into One Classic Luxe Piece. I spent some time trying to find reviews but couldn't find any. (There are only 5 star reviews on Sheer LLC's own website and the one-star appropriate one I submitted has not yet - if ever it will be - been published to the site). I really, really wanted to love this dress. :(

Back to the issue at hand. The Sheer dress ad I saw on FB said "The Best Dress You'll Ever Buy - Guaranteed". My problem is with Sheer the Brand's "Guarantee". They are tossing around meaningless words everywhere. They did not guarantee it to me in Canada. In fact, Sheer's position, despite it not being clear in the Terms & Conditions BEFORE you purchase (the little box you tick has jibberish in it), they will not allow you to refund the dress if you are outside the USA. I wrote them and outlined the issues below, and (kindly, I though) requested a refund, but Sheer's "customer service" only offered an exchange. Offering only an exchange when you've "guaranteed" the dress is the best one can buy is useless, because it's a quality and brand sizing issue. More on that below (thank you for reading).

As you will have noticed, the price of this little black dress is rather jaw-dropping. So you might hope, as I had, that it would be amazing. After all, if it really were the dress they say it is, you would think it's worth it to spend $500 CAD plus another $50 in taxes and duties, right? I would. But this "Sculpting Midi Dress" is not, in my view, worth more than $50.

Sadly, the quality is just not there. The idea is. But that's it. There are too many layers and the dress is hard to get into. It's like managing shapewear (you wrestle it up from the bottom and can't put it on over your head). Except that you also need to navigate the top layer. You are sweating by the time you're in it. Try looking sexy whilst taking that off for a date. I recognize the problem and applaud Sheer the Brand's efforts at a solution, but their customer service is as disappointing as the dress itself is.

Sadly, the dress doesn't even shape or improve the figure all that well. It's OK - not the worst - and as I opined, it is a good idea. The execution, however, falls flat. The underside of the black dress is a white slip which pokes out when you sit down if you're not careful. And the seams are not well-done and are not flat-finished, which you'd expect for the price. These unfinished seams dig into your body when you have it on. There was colour bleeding all over the white liner, which looks tacky.

The 'shapewear' portion on your stomach looks a bit like a diaper on the front. Hard to describe. It doesn't matter as much because no one sees it, but the effect of all these layers is they bunch up when you sit down. Not a good look. And when you stand up, you have a lot to pull down. It just doesn't stay in place.

Finally, I'm disappointed because this dress seems designed for an hourglass figure. I'm a US Size 6, true hourglass, with 36E bra, ordered a M. Fit in hips is OK. The scoop neck band, however, is far too tight for maybe anyone over a C cup. It just digs across my boobs. I had thought it would be stretchy but it's not enough across the chest. Seems the fit/design here is totally off. I tried the dress with and without a bra - no difference.

I really wanted to love this dress. Sadly, the price, fit, design execution, and lack of proper finishing means that the Sheer Sculpting Midi Dress is not good enough in my books.

The reason why I'm writing this review on Trustpilot, though, is because I don't think the Sheer LLC brand is engaging in fair marketing practices. They put out a targeted FB ad visible in Canada that says "Guaranteed" but then don't back it up. After poking around a bit on their site, their Returns section says they don't return orders outside of the USA but it's confusingly mixed in. But that wasn't clearly stated before I purchased it in their terms & conditions on the order page. And if they have the capability to exchange a dress, they have the capability to return it. I even offered to pay return shipping. I would have even been fine 'eating' the $50 duty.

So this review may not be as helpful for someone in the USA as you can return it, seemingly. But you might save yourself the hassle and being out of pocket return shipping money otherwise. (Sheer the Brand also has a Sculpting Mini Dress.)

Bottom line: Sheer the Brand's Sculpting Midi Dress is overpriced and doesn't look that great in person. And their return policy is super inflexible, which is not made sufficiently clear at the point of checkout. I hope this review of the Sheer Sculpting Midi Dress will be helpful to others as well. Really wanted to love it, but it's not very nice.
