Excellent space with extremely competent and helpful staff

The staff at Shurgard Peterborough were so helpful and friendly when I rented space . I booked over the phone but had issues with the app which were sorted out at the office . It turned out to be a problem with my phone settings which had to be resolved by my service provider but in the meantime the staff finalised the paperwork and ensured I had access to my unit . The facility is kept very clean and easy to use. So far I’m very happy with with my experience at Shurgard Peterborough and would recommend this self storage facility.

I have only just taken ownership of my unit today but I can honestly say that the experience so far couldn't be better. Sam explained everything to me very comprehensively before I made the booking and today guided me through the whole process of access using the app, rather like an interactive guided tour. Gold star to Sam! Prices are very competitive too.

The worst storage warehouse I’ve used by a long chalk. Badly designed badly executed and very badly managed. The corridors are too narrow meaning you have to do a three point turn with trolly at the end of a row of units. The trolleys have no sides so are difficult to load.The lifts often don’t work and there’s no parking bays so everyone blocks the terrible side hung access door while loading ! I could have put up with these flaws until they put the price up twice in the year I was using them ! AVOID LIKE COVID !! That’s my advice

Absolutely fantastic experience at the Peterborough location. They were willing to show us multiple units, talked us through the whole process and very upfront about costs. The facility is clean and we felt confident leaving our goods with them. Thank you Sam for being helpful.

We have been customers at this site since it operated under Lok’nStore, effectively from when the branch first opened, and currently rent multiple units. Based on that long-term experience, it is clear that the standard of service has declined significantly.

What was once a straightforward and reliable facility has become increasingly difficult and frustrating to deal with. Communication is often unclear and inconsistent, and issues we have raised — including a lighting fault within our unit — remain unresolved despite being reported some time ago.

More recently, we received emails warning that deliveries may be refused unless we are physically present to accept them, despite this previously being accommodated by the store. This change was introduced abruptly and only clarified after we specifically requested the relevant terms and conditions.

We have also been warned about significant charges relating to trolley use and items outside the unit, with references to contractual clauses that were not initially provided when requested. While we fully understand the need for safety and operational rules, the way these have been applied has felt heavy-handed, poorly communicated, and unnecessarily difficult to manage as a customer.

As long-standing customers with multiple units, this level of service is extremely disappointing and falls well below what we would reasonably expect from a professional storage provider.

Based on our experience, we would recommend considering alternative storage providers and ensuring you obtain a full written understanding of all terms, conditions, and operational restrictions before committing.

I never write reviews, but my phone call to Shurgard Self Storage Peterborough was so offensively bad that I feel obligated to warn everyone else.

I called with a simple, honest question: I needed help figuring out the right unit size for my belongings. Not a complicated request for a self storage company, right? Wrong.

A woman named Sam picked up. From the first syllable, she made it crystal clear that my call was ruining her day. The sighs. The clipped, one-word answers. The utter refusal to engage in even the most basic back-and-forth to determine what I actually needed. When I tried to describe the volume of items, she literally said, "I don't know, just look online," as if the entire purpose of her job wasn't to, you know, help people store things.

Sam wasn't just unhelpful. She was hostile. Rude. Lazy. The kind of person who gives the entire self storage industry a bad name. I felt like an intruder for daring to ask a question about a service they supposedly offer.

So I did exactly what you should do: I hung up, drove to a competing self storage facility five minutes away, and signed a contract within ten minutes. Why? Because the person there smiled, asked questions, listened, and walked me through three different unit options like a professional human being. Imagine that.

Sam, if you hate your job that much, hand in your headset. And Shurgard management – if you're going to put someone like Sam on the front lines of customer service, you might as well hang a sign on the door that says "We don't want your business."

Customer service goes a very, very long way. In Sam's case, it went zero inches. I'm now a happy customer of your competition. Thanks for nothing.

I do not recommend Peterborough Shurgard as they do not honour cancellation emails. They don’t honour what they say they will do and don’t communicate honestly. They failed to disclose terms and conditions when taking a unit then land additional terms at their convenience, very deceitful. If you don’t check what you’ve paid you might find later they double charged instead of refunding and don’t honour initial cheap deals. They change their mind at their convenience, they can’t be trusted. They’ve taken money from my account without my consent after interfering with the booking after this was discussed in person they say something different in writing. They didn’t refund insurance when they promised to after showing evidence of private storage insurance and charge this repeatedly. They money grab taking arrival payments to make up the amount they want and change the end date at their convenience when transferring units so they take the maximum money. They are manipulative and dishonest.

Just rented 2 units at Peterborough facility . Very clean and well organised site, website very clear and Access App works perfectly . Local team onsite Sam and Alice are both very friendly and helpful. Well done Shurguard.

The staff have been very helpful. Easy access and so far a great experience.

Staff really helpful and easy to get in and out of the building with the app. Process is nice and easy to book, easily the least stressful part of moving house!

They deserve 10 stars. I was very pleased with the storage space, Sturgard, Peterborough. The place is spotless and secure, and both ladies are so friendly and helpful.
