Do not trade with this company! They used to be a premium supplier but now only supply mass-produced fish from factory farms, they don't even smoke their own produce anymore - they contract that out... Voir plus

Was gifted a hamper from inverawe. There was a problem with delivery and the company dealt with it so well. Excellent customer service on top of super tasting products. Better than anything I’ve had from a supermarket by far. Would defo order from them
again.

I placed an order with Inverawe and was pleasantly surprised after reading the reviews

I placed an order with Inverawe and then read the reviews, which left me feeling like I may have made a mistake. However, my experience has been nothing but positive. The company were quick to respond and helpful when I spotted that I had made an error with the delivery address, and the order (a gift) was delivered to the recipients on the requested date. The only reason I'm giving 4 stars instead of 5 is because I didn't get any email updates on the order / delivery status, because the website didn't ask for an email contact address.

Ordering and delivery issues!

Excellent products but the issues over delivery are many: the delivery / billing boxes on the website are very tricky to fill without immediate confusion. Some customer service is extremely good but I was very disappointed by one particular agent. I’ve used Inverawe for some years but I’ve had enough now.

They are not closed

I recently ordered and it came on the correct day and in the time that was sent to me. I have used these folks for many years and I discovered that the reviews which posted derelict and rundown looks referred to a massive storm that they experienced. and as a result the cafe and shop are closed but they continue to run the online order business as notmal, and I will continue to use them. I have been in touch with them about this and they also told me they are under new management.

I'll SHOP LOCALLY

This company advises that delivery may be a day earlier or later than the requested date of delivery. Even with a fair amount of notice, my requested date of delivery was the first available. I took a gamble, assuming there was a two to one chance of receiving my order. I accepted the risk of a courier problem but didn't expect the order to be held back because some of the items weren't ready. Most companies I deal with arrange to split orders or at the very least send prompt notifications. My notification saying it was on it's way meant 'not yet despatched'.

An abandoned customer

Having ordered venison successfully in the past we tried ordering some smoked halibut.
Money taken, order confirmed. Nothing after that.
E mail inquiry ignored.
Telephone inquiry - 'can't help as the system is down'.

Fortunately it was not a large order and I have only lost just under £16.

Buy from them at your peril.

Do not trade with this company

Do not trade with this company! They used to be a premium supplier but now only supply mass-produced fish from factory farms, they don't even smoke their own produce anymore - they contract that out too. Why pay the premium for quality you can get in Tesco's. Their business is in turmoil since they sacked the majority of their staff late last year to cut costs. No wonder all the orders are screwed up. They are slowly going out of business - don't be stuck as a creditor when they go under. Google "west coast today unpaid inverawe staff".

Similar experiences to others. One order did not arrive, but charge taken. Emailed and called several times, but it took over a month for them to contact me. Very off hand. Other order not usual quality. Such a shame as used them for years very happily. What has happened?

Extremely poor service

Incorrect order delivered on the 21st of December. Tried to phone, no reply. No reply to 2 emails. Eventually spoke to customer services last week (10/1/25) and assured a call back. No response. Called again today and only way my call wasn’t cut off was to choose option to place an order. Again, assured call back but on request for refund could not give me a date when that would happen. No process for escalation. Who is monitoring this process and how can they let this poor customer care continue? (I also read the other reviews).

Incompetent and arrogant

Adding to the chorus of disappointed customers treated in an incompetent and arrogant way by this company. My Christmas order arrived incomplete with no explanation, my emails ignored until a terse note with no apology saying a refund will arrive in 10 days. Our family have ordered from them for many years, but we never will again and advise everyone else to steer clear.

Rubbish

Disgusting company

I helped my 84yr old mum order her products online on 6th Dec and due to issues with her bank card used my credit card to pay, delivery date 20th Dec.
Mum stayed in all day but no order arrived.
Given it was for her birthday and to use on Christmas day at my sisters we let it go hoping the goods would arrive. They didn't.
They payment was taken on 6th Dec and a confirmation email received.
As she had gone away for Christmas and New Year and a phone call to the company which stated it was closed I left it until just after New year.

I sent an email..no response

I phoned and was told they had my email complaint and someone would contact me...no further response.

I phoned again and met with an abrupt customer service advisor who said they had my email, they had been closed from 19th Dec until 6th Jan and they had a call back system in place and someone will be contacting me...I don't hold out much hope.

I ve sent a further email expressing my anger frustration and disappointment.

All I want is an explanation and a refund.

I will now be contacting my credit company to intervene and if I have to trading standards. They are happy to take your money..less so returning it.
I told them I would be leaving a review on this platform in the hope it saves others having to deal with being let down, the disappointment and hassle.

Never again.

Utterly appalling customer service

I have used this company for the last couple of Xmas's for gifts for friends and family. Unfortunately this year their level of service appears to have declined dramatically. Gift hamper not delivered, email sent 24/12 not replied to. No answer to phone between Xmas and new year. Two calls made this week greeted with apologies and a promise of a call back from Customers services ...no calls received.
I am still trying to get hold of someone to deal with my complaint. Do not under any circumstances order anything from this company.

Our Christmas order arrived via APC without any advice that it had been delivered…no email, text or even a note through the door. We only found it because my husband was taking the bins out and found it hidden behind them. We have security cameras and we found the delivery man leaving the parcel at 13.12 the day before we found it. The chiller pack was completely defrosted. I contacted Inverawe twice by phone followed by 2 emails. No response from them whatsoever. Shameful behaviour from a company we have used for many years … they appear to have no customer care whatsoever.

Inwerawe- a failure in customer service & in quality of product

Have been a loyal customer for many years but;
1)Customer Service; Exactly the same experiences as other reviewers I spent 4 hours on the phone in early December trying to find out when my delivery would arrive. I insisted on speaking to the MD who said it was a combination of an IT failure/ the production line etc
2) Quality of the Smoked Salmon & its packaging. This has to be the worst salmon we had tasted. We have to question whether it had even been smoked. Scraps of fish had been used to make the weight up. It was badly sliced & there was no interleaf to stop the slices sticking together.

Given all of the above & the prices had gone up I have to question after 10+years of buying from Inverawe why I would ever do so again.

I received part of my order with 2…

I received part of my order with 2 items missing on December 22nd so l phoned the office and was told they were out of stock and customer service would be in touch for a refund. No paperwork in the package to inform me about the situation and heard nothing since.
Meanwhile Inverawe has my money so l will definitely not be buying anything from them again as this is the second year running that they have not sent everything l ordered. Sort yourselves out.

We had identical situation to Clara B

We had identical situation to Clara B. Ordered for delivery date but nothing arrives, then staff cannot trace delivery. Having bought their product for the past 30 years, we will not be buying again. We should have looked at The Oban Times of late Oct 2024 before we ordered. The article explains staff not being paid and owner saying he must have balls if he puts his house up as security for overdraft. His chasing of deal with US chain with 525 outlets securing business’s future is more smoke up the chimney. Don’t send you money up in smoke. A great shame as the product was good.

Do not use for online orders

Sadly this company appears to no longer be reliable. In November I placed an order online as a gift to be delivered a week before Christmas. Their site says it should be delivered one day either side of my chosen date. Three days later there is no sign of the goods, no communication from them or their delivery company. After 4 attempts I managed to speak to someone at Inverawe who said ‘I think there have been delays with despatch’.I asked her to track my order number which she said she couldn’t do. My account was debited on the day I placed the order. I now have no confidence that perishable foodstuffs will arrive in a condition to be eaten safely, if indeed they arrive at all. My advice is do not use this company for online orders. I shall never use them again.

Misleading product information and poor customer service

I ordered some smoked salmon for my father on Fathers Day recently as he had mentioned a few months ago that he liked their smoked salmon and said that he used to buy it as Christmas gifts for his growers many years ago. I ordered some smoked salmon in a gift box (product MY2 - 400g sliced pack & gift box, picture showing smoked salmon in a lovely green presentation box) - what arrived was just a pack of smoked salmon in a messy looking sleeve that was too small for the pack of salmon. I emailed their customer service team to express my disappointment at the presentation of the item as well as my frustration with their delivery partner, I was called back straight away and the lady told me that she was also disappointed looking at the pictures and this is not what I should have received. As it was late on a Friday afternoon at that point she said she would have to investigate with their dispatch team on Monday and come back to me, but wanted to reach out to me before the weekend to let me know that they were looking into it. I was initially impressed by this, but it’s now two weeks later and I’ve heard nothing further which is incredibly disappointing. I would not order from them again, I think there are plenty of other smokehouses across Scotland that do take more pride in the products they sell and ship and I would try one of them next time.
