These guys are the real deal. Nuno and Sofia curated a beautiful trip for my wife and I on our visit to Lisbon, the Douro Valley and Porto. Everything was meticulously arranged from the amazing hotels, the dependable and professional drivers, the selection of fantastic excursions and amazing restaurants. I worked with Laura at Splendid Portugal to plan a multi-city trip to Lisbon and Porto for a large group of friends and family. Although we ultimately did not book due to unexpected reasons, I want to share how outstanding the experience was.

Laura took everything I shared about our group’s interests and turned it into a truly thoughtful, beautifully curated itinerary. Every experience was chosen with care, from the private dinners to the winery visits. Both the host of our trip and I were genuinely excited about it. She was incredibly patient as we made several changes to the itinerary to meet the needs of so many different people in our group, and she handled every request with grace. She was generous with her time and honest in her advice.

It’s clear that Splendid Portugal focuses on quality over quantity, and Laura’s professionalism and hard work were evident at every step. I’m extremely sad we could not move forward due to our group’s unexpected circumstances, and I would not hesitate to work with her again. Our local coordinator's logistics were top-notch and his communication was excellent with every detail planned and communicated each day. In a couple of instances where things did not go according to plan (a weather cancellation and a mixed-up hotel clerk), he was there immediately to resolve the problem. And he did, very quickly, and to our great satisfaction.

Both of our travel professionals were warm, personal, and interested in our experiences and making sure all of our travel wants and needs were met. Truly extraordinary!

We loved our Coimbra stay at our hotel, Sapientia, in the walled city and our tour of the university. Évora, everything about it, was a highlight: the hotel, visiting a cork farm, lunch at a local restaurant, and our walking tour.

Our driver and guide in Lisbon: what a team! They made our Lisbon (and Sintra) visit memorable. Our guided tour and lunch in Guimarães was also high on our list of favorites. Our guide was so knowledgeable about the history, archaeology, and culture of the area.

Every detail was planned to perfection. There were many pieces to our trip involving lodging , tours ,car services and train travel and it all went smoothly. The people that Splendid Travel contracted with were on time , knowledgable and fun to be with.

I can’t recommend them highly enough.

We thought about our two week trip to Portugal and then called Cesar at Splendid P and could not have been happier with their advice on planning as well as the execution of our stay. Our drivers were knowledgeable, charming and so helpful- thank you John, JP, Daniel!!. Our tours were unforgettable as well. When we were unable to do one excursion, they immediately rearranged it for a different time.

Outstanding Experience with Splendid Portugal

We recently completed a wonderful trip to Portugal with a group of eight, and Splendid Portugal did an outstanding job from beginning to end. Our itinerary included 3 days in Lisbon, 3 days in Porto, and 4 days in the Algarve, with some members of our group arriving and departing at different points along the journey.

Splendid Portugal coordinated all of our transportation and many of our activities, including food tours, a winery visit and tasting, a Douro Valley river cruise, an e-bike tour, a visit to Sintra, and a scenic coastal drive. Everything was organized extremely well, and the entire trip went smoothly without a single issue.

One of the things we appreciated most was how responsive they were. On the rare occasions when we needed to contact them during the trip, they responded immediately and took care of whatever we needed.

They also provided a very useful app with our complete itinerary, meeting times and locations, directions to meeting places, and contact information for our drivers and tour guides. It made navigating the trip incredibly easy and gave us confidence that everything was taken care of.

From the planning to the execution, Splendid Portugal exceeded our expectations. We would highly recommend them to anyone planning a trip to Portugal. They made what could have been a complicated trip for a group of eight feel effortless, allowing us to simply relax and enjoy Portugal.

The entire trip was wonderful. I would like to give a special thanks to our driver, our driver. He was always so kind and fun to be with. All of our guides were friendly and very knowledgeable. Their pacing was just right. We spent enough time at each venue. The information they gave us was thorough but concise. As we requested, our accommodations were well located.
We liked the Alqueva boat ride and stargazing trip. It was a bit cloudy so some of the stars were hidden but the ride and the picnic were great.

We had a great time on our driving tour of Alentejo. It could have been a disappointment because it was Monday and many of the planned venues were closed. However, our driver saved the day and took us to unexpected spots. A hilltop view of Evora from a distance. A stop at the site of some ancient standing stones. A stop at a cork manufacturing company. All this in addition to some of the planned activities that were open.

Our curated Portugal trip was wonderful. The experiences, accommodations, and attention to detail were great. We especially enjoyed our wine tasting/lunch experience and the Lisbon gastronomy and history walking tour. Our transportation drivers were excellent and accommodating.

Diogo and Nuno did such an excellent job in arranging such a special and customized tour for me in Portugal!! I absolutely LOVED it!! I got to see the beautiful magical sites of Sintra with a personalized & private jeep tour. I then had the most mind-blowing adventures in Algarve which included deep coastal cliff swimming, cliff side horseback riding, and a speedboat ride to the Benagil caves. I also stayed in the best resort of my life in Lagos! It was like my private bungalow in a villa with a serene landscape, pool, spa, and greenhouse. Breakfast was served directly in my room each morning!

During each day of my trip, I had attentive and privately hired drivers who ensured I was comfortably and safely transported to and from each location.
Diogo was also accessible via remote communication throughout my trip and was able to respond and swiftly address my needs that arose during my vacation.

I had such an amazing experience in Portugal and can’t wait to go back!! I highly recommend Splendid Portugal!

Cesar and his team were phenomenal. From early to communication before and during our trip, they helped create the perfect trip to Portugal for my wife and I. Everything was well organized, the guides knowledgeable and entertaining, the drivers were all considerate and punctual and our contacts were easy to reach when we needed something. The accommodations and recommendations were solid. The day trip to the Duoro Valley was particularly well structured.

I'd make this 4.5 stars if I could. We had a 5 star experience where there were a few glitches, but those were addressed quickly and kindly.

Sofia is a gem. She goes out of her way to clearly communicate what to expect, who you'll be with, and times for meets and activities. She made us feel special, as though we were her personal guests vs just clients. We had a luggage issue that she went out of her way to help resolve.

We asked to stay in nice places with AC and king-size beds, and Sofia delivered. All places were great and a bit different from what we're used to and each other. Most of the drivers were also a lot of fun to be with and spoke at least reasonably good English.

I offer 2 suggestions for those who use this service. One, always verify meet times and contact info that you receive. Two, don't pre-book 2 meals in a day if you're staying at a place that offers breakfast. It's just too much food too close together.

We had an 11-day vacation. We chose variety vs immersion, so went from Porto to Douro Valley to Allentejo to Lisbon to Lagos in the Algarve area with some stops in between and drivers who brought us everywhere. Next time we'd likely choose 2 or 3 places for a more immersive experience.

I highly recommend Splendid Portugal and Sofia in particular.

We truly had a splendid time in Portugal thanks to Spendid Portugal’s expertise and planning. Each day was the “best day.” Our accommodations were beautiful, clean and comfortable. Drivers for transfers were prompt and friendly. Guides were knowledgeable and professional. We learned about Portuguese culture, history and traditional foods. Splendid Portugal’s staff listened to our hopes for the trip and planned it to perfection. The staff was very accessible if we had questions and ensured we had what we needed to have a successful experience each day. Portugal is a beautiful country with great history, very kind people, and a very lovely and interesting language. We had a wonderful experience.

Splendid Portugal helped us plan and enjoy a wonderful trip with a variety of interesting, fun and special activities! From Porto to the Dural Valley to Lisbon and the surrounding area and then to Algarve we enjoyed a mix of great food, culture, new experiences and fabulous service! Our friends, who are picky, highly recommended SP and were completely happy with our trip! We enjoyed Porto, the Valley, Arouca, Schist Village, Cascais, Sintra, Lisbon, Lagos in the Algarve and the final evening cruise back in Lisbon. The hotels they recommended were all five star and just great as were the restaurants. If you don’t like seafood, make sure you tell them, otherwise you’ll be eating octopus!
