Was due to start with the prison…
Was due to start with the prison service, after changing my start date numerous times, 3 different people telling me they are my manager and giving me times, dates that clashed, falsely telling me to buy my own uniform which cost hundreds. I finally decide not to start, for some bizarre reason they paid me a months salary, i spent months trying to give this back and no one would tell me how or what to do. and 2 years later receive legal proceedings to get this money back for not replying to any letters or emails which I hadn't received.

Absolutely useless, lazy and incompetent.
A simple request takes forever to sort out, resulting in numerous phone calls, emails and generating mountains of paperwork - just deal with the enquiry in the first place instead of passing it around various departments and forcing people to beg for their own money.

I am employed by HMPPS and have been for 31years, decided to apply for Part time, you would of thought it would be a matter of filling in a few forms and bingo job done. But NO! started in February 2022, I was then given half pay even though I reversed the application because of the time span in collecting my pension from CSP dept, OMG four months on SSCL still can not pay me my correct monies. Had to send emails and letters still no correspondence, eventually phoned them this is an abhorrent company who Im afraid do not show any empathy towards employees. Even though I have shown them I have been deducted Half my pay it took emails and phone calls to persuade the callers I have been underpaid yet again. The system IS broken it took a twenty minute phone call and an excel document to show this company I have been underpaid. They ARE breaking the LAW, I have been told the money will be paid to me in October? Why ? because if they dont do this I will have to pay it back? this has been a long journey, I have even though about cutting my wrists I have bills to pay, this company is withholding my earnings which I needed correcting, I have been told they will escalate the request, I have been told I will be contacted in FIVE days time, yet another wait. Can someone please tell me how has this company been able to continue, they are causing anxiety, stress, and even causing employees to self harm. This company needs to held accountable for their actions.

What a shambles of a so-called security organisation. No-one takes responsibility for answering complaints. They refused to give me the name of the CEO of SSCL although this is clearly available of the Companies House .gov website.
I'm now pursuing legal action under the Data Protection Act for inaccurate information linked to me which I have no idea what fake information they have.
Can I have what I'm owed please?
The problems your company are causing me are really not that difficult to resolve. It simply needs someone to take ownership, to communicate with me and to see it through to a conclusion. Whereas what I have constantly experienced is holding emails followed by no action, or people simply passing the job on to someone else and again nothing happening. There’s no ownership of problems and therefore no individual accountability which means that people like myself have to go onto public forums such as this in order to attempt to get anything done. I have experienced over and underpayments, missing payslips and can empathize with everyone else on here. I'm owed £1000's. No wonder they can boast about how much they save the government on their website.
8/7/23 - Despite a Sept 22 indirect apology from a manager, who agreed it's unacceptable, I am still owed money. Some money has been paid but no breakdown as to how it was calculated or answers to the follow up questions that I put in writing. I'm too ill to push hard on this and will be handing it to a solicitor. I have everything well documented and evidenced.
Don't think I've mentioned it before but sscl are representing the UK Civil Service here.

This would be minus1000 if you could score that low. Repeatedly I have sent exactly what has been requested and repeatedly emailed this company as to why they're seemingly loosing the ID I send them, yet I've never had a response other than another request. Even had a request for a passport when my last 1 expired 24yrs ago! I've worked in prisons on and off for over 18yrs now and always had vetting done in house, take in your ID its photocopied and 2wks later your starting work. Now you have to give up a lucrative job to seek security in employment and work while waiting for vetting which is automated. I just found out that at I ception my driving licence was input as non UK and may well have caused the 2mths of sheer misery I've suffered trying to prove that at 70yrs of age I'm safe to work in a prison, not even with inmates but just as a cleaner. This company are stunningly useless yet nobody does anything to sort them out. Don't bother calling them as all you get is sorry you just have to keep trying as I can't access your account on your behalf!! Why is the call centre even there then if they can't do anything to sort out the issues they're now causing. You can't even upload everything in a day as the sites so slow or just times itself out. Getting into the different sections is almost impossible and then prisons who are desperate for good hard working staff, they loose people because they cannot put up with the twice wkly emails asking for the same things over and over. Whatever you do, don't go to work for a company who use this one for your vetting. They'll age you, bring you to tear your hair out in sheer frustration at their ineptitude and then cause you to walk out of a role you may have really wanted. Only people who sail through are those fresh from school, because they never married, moved, had a job or possibly lived abroad, they have not even 2decades to answer! Send the review to sscl by all means and they'll do nothing to sort out their useless constantly faulting site that's so slow I'd done a day's work before I could upload one image, yet again for the 5th time!!!!

0 interest in helping anyone resolve an issue. All they want to do is pass it on to another agent or give a generic reply. The complaints team promise the world and deliver nothing. They will not accept they've made any mistakes. Happy to take money off you, not interested in giving it back!
Absolutely useless service
Absolutely useless service. Very unclear what utility they are supposed to provide. They were the only contact I had in regard to my future employment and were unable to provide me with information about my start date, the progress of my security checks or my contract.
I recognise that security checks are outsourced but SSCL should not hold themselves out as any kind of service if they cannot even provide an update. I was able to find out myself the stage of my checks but this involved physically going into my future place of work, speaking to people there and getting the correct contact details for the UKSV helpdesk. The UKSV helpline were able to tell me the date my checks were approved and that they were currently awaiting the all-clear from the decision maker at the Home Office. SSCL should have done this.
I also wrote to the MOJ directly and was supplied with my start date. SSCL have done absolutely nothing. It takes hours in an online queue to speak to a service person just to be told they can do nothing about it. When I contacted SSCL in June about my summer position, they told me I would "just have to wait like every other candidate" as though it was unreasonable that I was asking for a start date. Deplorable.

Just like everyone else. I am having major problems with them as well. Disgustingly slow and plainly stupid when it comes to corresponding a simple email. 2 months waiting for my thing to be done, and I am further away from the finish line than when I started.

I've been chasing up an overpayment for 6 months.
Despite in excess of 100 phone calls,dozens of emails 9 escaltations, going through the complaints process and HMRC writing to the on 3 occasions, I have been pushed from pillar to post.
No resolution to date.
A shambolic incompetent organisation.
I'm not surprised that the government use them as their payroll company as they are equally useless.
Feel sorry for the agents that have to listen to me on a daily basis.

Terrible. How can the government use this company? Website slowest I have used since dialup. Charge to call them. Slow response time. Buttons that somehow don’t exist on their website even though they are needed.

Awful company
This co. outsources financial services for Natural England and has been chasing for an incorrect invoice for a year, despite me having responded politely and patiently explaining the error. Never responds and the automated letters keep arriving. Classic example of this tory government requiring private companies to take on public sector roles, which they do badly and get paid with our taxes.

Disgusting company. Worst company out there, if I could give -500 stars I would! Haven't paid me since I started working for them, have hung up the phone on me and have lied to me constantly. Do not ever agree to work under them they are a vile company.
A truly awful organisation
It's hard to put in writing just how bad this company are. Upon leaving the civil service, SSCL changed my tax code to zero and paid my 12 weeks notice in one lump. I received less than half of the amount I was legally entitled to. To make the issue worse, they refused to give me any payslips, meaning I had no idea where the money had gone. I lost my home and suffered a mental breakdown while living in my car.
SSCL only sent me my payslips 10 months later, when I had made a claim to the employment tribunal.
I have no idea how this organisation has kept such a lucrative contract, paid for by the taxpayer.
If you are considering working in the civil service, I would think twice. This company destroyed my life and could not care less.

Not very good. Took months to sort out an allowance I was entitled too.
For this current tax-year my tax code is still wrong after several months so I have over-paid quite a bit of tax.
I am not impressed.

Completing this form took hours of frustration. The employment history section will throw you out when you think you're saving. You then have to fill everything in again. Each page took ages to load. Just an awful service.
