As you can imagine, our pets are family. My dog—who just turned one—is incredibly important to me, so discovering maggots in her food was both alarming and upsetting. I purchased Wild Red Raw Blend Grain & Legume Free Red Meat Recipe for Dogs, and when the bag was delivered and opened, I immediately found maggots in the food after pouring it into her bowl. This is a premium product that I intentionally choose and pay a higher price for because it is marketed as a healthier, higher-quality option. Seeing this was frankly sickening. I contacted the store where the product was purchased and was advised to reach out to you directly. Given the reputation of this brand, this situation is unacceptable and extremely concerning.

I’ve been feeding our Italian greyhounds exclusively with Stella and chewy freeze dried chicken patties for 7 years. For the greater part of the time our dogs loved it and have been very healthy. However; over the last couple of years and in 2024/2025 the quality has gone down significantly. Some batches are fine but increasingly there are bad batches that our animals simply will not eat. If they get hungry enough they will eat it but then get sick and throw up then have diarrhea for a day or so. I can always tell when a batch is bad as the patties are very hard/crumbly or have a dark brown rock hard center, Also if the patty is rubbery. This seems to be the problem more often than not lately. Im not sure what’s going on at their processing facility but im ready to switch to another food for our dogs. I had to return yet another bag (very expensive!) today and our local store Petco is now going to stop ordering from Stella and Chewy as they are experiencing too many customer complaints about the frozen raw patties from S&C.
I will purchase ONE MORE BAG, and if it’s not up to what used to be great Im switching to a new brand and NEVER coming back. Sorry Stella and Chewy but I’ve communicated with you before about this and yet you are still unable to maintain a repeatable process and execute consistent quality controls.

I am pretty picky about what I feed my dog. I was worried that when Stella and Chewy was bought by that bigger pet brand their quality would go downhill. But so far my pup and I are still loving their products!

My pup got really sick off their freeze dried raw food. Went to the vet and had to be pumped. Be careful!
