I would give 0 stars if possible. I signed up for this to primarily use it as a way to make sure my kids had money wherever they are. Now that my kids are older and have their own bank accounts, I don’t need it for that and only use it to move funds from a direct deposit account that has no transferring features like Zelle. I get paid weekly, so I pull some out weekly. This is the 2nd time I’ve gone to pull out MY money and they have declined it because you’re only allowed 6 withdraws within 30 days… Fine. However, when I reached out to explain that this was an emergency and the funds were needed NOW. I was met with- “I’ve escalated this… someone will reach out in 1-3 business days.” This was after I had previously told the rep, I don’t have 1-3 business days.
DO NOT PUT YOUR MONEY HERE! As soon as I am able to withdraw MY money. I will be canceling my account! Horrible business!

I've been a through a few companies for kids debit cards, this one is by far the best. I know they have paid options, but the free version is still better than anything I've paid for and used in the past. The app consistently works as it should and I have been very happy with it for the last couple of years.

I had to report my card lost due to my physical card not coming into the mail. Wayne, one of the customer service providers, was quick to respond to my messages. No longer than 2-5 mins per message I sent! He quickly resolved my issue, reported the card as lost, and was able to make sure I did not have to pay a fee for unforeseen circumstances! Truly amazing team, thanks Step!

I have had this account for well over a year now, I am government issued payments directly deposited into this account every month, and I have never had a problem with this account until now. I tried to process a highly important transaction for over $1,600 that was declined for insufficient funds when I had well over that amount of money left in my account. I've even made multiple transactions after processing this payment. Summing over $900. How is it that one can process a transaction if there's insufficient funds in their account?
The transaction would not go through if there was insufficient funds in the account. They have failed to refund that money to me. And this is a london-based company that no one can contact by phone. Learn from me and don't trust these people with your money. I am highly infuriated and will be closing this account and legally prosecuting them, and I hope this review is posted for everybody to see.

After many headaches, back and forth,and threatening to cancel all 4 of my kids cards, my situation was finally rectified to my satisfaction.

Today I was sending my grandson money and somehow I sent it to the wrong account I panicked that was $35 I could not afford to lose I contacted step told them what I had done and she stated we are not allowed to reverse transactions as with any bank but in this case we can do a courtesy reverse one time she put the money back on my card which I'm not mistaken that's the first time anything like that's ever happened. But the young lady put the money back on my card thank God I don't have $35 to throw away thank you Step....

They're helping my credit score go up AND give a score l decided m secured card to use so you don't have to add a PIN number!!

Great for being able to add money to the card from another bank, seemingly unlimited deposits but when you withdraw from Step to another bank, withdrawal amounts are very limited.
Advertises early direct deposit, but I have yet to have my funds available early from a government pay direct deposit.
Step has no customer service telephone, if you need to contact them your only options are through chat in the app or an email.
Every question asked is answered by a generic canned response. Customer service is non existent.
If you want a prepaid account I would go with Chime or someone, avoid Step.
