Stephen Boyce Awning Specialists Limited Avis 

I think it’s important for people to be aware I purchased a refurbished awning from Stephen which he advised would be in perfect working order and guaranteed to 2 years. I was naive and as a small new business I thought it was a great way to save some money I paid 50% of the balance to Stephen but when the awning was installed it collapsed twice, one of the arms was rubbing off of the shutter box, the awning stuck when rolling in and out. And he had it installed covering parts of the design on my new shop sign. Stephen did send his fitters on several occasions to try and fix it but they advised there was nothing more they could do. I advised Stephen the awning was problematic and looked very unprofessional, I did not want it and I was not paying the other 50% which was still quite a lot of money. I asked him to take it back. He then cut all contact with me until I logged my case with trading standards. Once I advised the case was logged with trading standards Stephen appeared at my shop advising he had tried to visit in the previous weeks (no phone calls or emails - no traceable contact) but my shop was closed. Stephen advised me he will take the awning back but I will not be getting my money back. He took the remote control that day maybe so I couldn’t have the awning inspected. I now have to take him to court to get my money back. On receiving a new quotation from another trader who already had inspected Stephen’s awning I have been advised the awning should have been installed using specialist brackets or wood to bring it forward so that it didn’t interfere with the shutter box. I’m sure Stephen has installed many awnings satisfactorily but it doesn’t negate the fact he told me the refurbished one would be perfectly fine and maybe he thought it would be but it wasn’t. Stephen has been very deceptive since I returned the faulty awning. He has never invoiced me for the other half of the cost. He is now in possession of the awning and my money and I feel he plans to find a way to get away with this absolute breach of trust and law.

Just got our old awning refurbished with a new cover . Looks lovely . Work men did a great job and clearly know their stuff .

Fitted an awning for my mother cafe. It’s needed repaired serval times. And moved and it’s an eyesore . He has been asked to remove it from the front of shop . Says he will remove the awning but she won’t get the money that’s been paid . So whatever you purchase from this business comes at a gamble. If your not happy with there job you have to just lose your money. Just aswel she only paid 50 percent upfront . Oh and his last visithe took her remote so she can’t use it .

Really lovely people who did a fab job, everything on our awning was custom and built to our business's requirements. From the quote to the install was quick and easy with excellent attention to detail.

Stephen and the fitters came and double checked all measurements and delivery / installation all done on time. The canopy is first class quality and a good installation and will make the space much more useful and very happy with teh addition and general dealings with Stephen. Good product and good Team. 15 year old awning never been serviced as the installation was done by a unprofessional company, Stephen came saw the problem said his boys would be able to make better and service the system. Assured us that it was a very good system and could be easily remedied. Also gave us advice for a new side awning “Paravento” for our other deck. Installation of Paravento took 20 minutes and it’s excellent. Our other system took the boys a few hours but it’s now doing the job it was always intended to do. Opens fully sides touch the deck instead of suspended a foot up. We are so pleased with Stephen and his team. Now if he could just sort the weather but at least our awning protects us properly. Cheers. I would not hesitate to recommend Stephen.

We needed to recover our awning, replace the wind sensor, and readjust the opening, and closing functions. Ten days after first meeting Stephen, all the work was completed, our awning looks like new again, and works better than it ever did.
