Part 3 of the Publishing Process

Despite me being in the UK and Stonebridge Publishers being in the US, the process seems to be taking shape. The Project Manager 'Matthew Nile' has a good handle on things and keeps me well informed. Naturally, I remain anxious about the process... That's the way I am!

The only points of real concern that I have are
1. The 'Contract' between myself and Stonebridge; a contract that they wrote, is not great and needs revision. This is something that I'm requesting that they look at.
2. Regardless of how hard I search, I can't seem to understand the company structure, who it's people are, what the Reg No is, etc, etc..

These will become big issues if they're not resolved by Stonebridge; however, today, I have faith in them... Tomorrow is another day.

Stone Bridge Publishers competently made it possible for me to do something I never expected to do.

I surprised myself by self publishing a book.

I have long written materials for community groups and church programs. When Covid shut down churches, I began to write and share personal meditations to encourage others to meditate and enrich their faith.

A number of people urged me to put some of these scattered devotional meditations shared online into a book for easier reading.

As I began to work with Stone Bridge Publishers, I wondered if they would understand my imaginative and at times quirky writing style and faith based themes. They immediately did. Natalie and Heather and the behind the scenes team guided me through a very understandable process. They were also extremely patient when my exceptionally poor rural Internet system complicated things.

Now I have beautifully designed book in hand to share. Proceeds from “Seeds On The Wind” will go to Dillard United Methodist Church, a rural mountain congregation.

The overall process had a few bumps, particularly around scheduling updates, but the team remained professional throughout. Once everything was aligned, the publishing and audiobook services were delivered with impressive quality and attention to detail.

My experience started off a bit uncertain because I wasn’t fully clear on the timeline, but the support team quickly addressed my concerns. They guided me through publishing and marketing in a way that felt much more organized afterward. The final result was worth the wait.

The process has been understandably dificult for a novice writer like me. Between misunderstanding goals and schedules and limited computer literacy I frustrated myself and the team repeatedly.
To his credit my team leader Ethan Cole managed to calm me down enough to work through the difficulties. That is no small accomplishment when I'm upset. So in short relax, breathe deeply, They have your back.

I approached Stone Bridge Publishers the first week of January 2026. They discussed with me the publishing process, that they would assess my work before publishing and assured me that if they felt that my writing was not what they thought was publishable, they would return my money and manuscript. I asked this as my own confidence as a writer was not high, and years of procrastination had resulted in me almost 'shelving' my project. Now that I had taken the bull by the horns, I sent off the manuscript the next day (before I chickened out). From day one Stone Bridge Publishers remained in weekly contact, we also spoke on the phone a couple of times and all editing was sent to me at each step of the way for my approval. We worked together, forming quite the formidable team. If there was anything that I was unsure of, Stone Bridge Publishers listened. They were very helpful and very efficient. At the beginning I was told that if they chose to accept my work, that the time from start to finish could be three to six months. They adhered to that time scale perfectly. I liaised mainly with Antonio who was ever so helpful and reassured me when I had times of my own self doubt. The editorial team sent me notes of encouragement and once finished a lovely message wishing me well for the future and with any future writing projects was sent to me. I found this company to be friendly, patient, helpful and efficient. Stone Bridge do have a marketing package that you can purchase, however as I am on a budget I kindly refused this package and in no way did I feel pressured or ignored for refusing it. The work was the same, the enthusiasm for getting my book 'out there' was the same and the good wishes were genuine. I am aware that not everyone feels this way, however, I can only speak about my own experience. I would not hesitate to work with Stone Bridge and their team of editors and advisers again in the future. Thank you all for helping me reach my goal.

I contacted Stone Bridge Publishers through their website chat regarding a children’s book enquiry, which then moved to email correspondence with a representative named Justin.

The communication quickly became very sales-driven, and it was clear my enquiry hadn’t been properly read (the basic concept was not understood and even my name was repeatedly spelled incorrectly).

After I stopped responding to the sales emails, I received an aggressive message accusing me of “ghosting” them and stating they had turned down other work because of me.

Considering I had never agreed to any services, the tone was extremely unprofessional and unnecessarily confrontational.

Based on this experience, I would advise other authors considering their services to be cautious. I would recommend paying close attention to how communication is handled early in the process. Professional publishing partnerships should be respectful, attentive to detail, and aligned with the author’s vision.

I used to be in the line of work where i conducted investigations regarding consumer issues. And I am rusty, but I am almost certain this company is only interested in getting your credit info. I spend some time looking into them before reaching out. We exchanged some emails, but the emails seemed so pushy, sort of, but it's sales, you know, it can be that way. I decided to reach out. Upon my telephone conversation, the line crackly, was not saying their office name, and it was a hard-to-understand foreigner (no racism intended). Aslo i am very familar with Oak Park office they claim to work out of. The employee was very uncorporative and it was like pulling teeth to get more info which i really did not get beyond what's on their website. If you work in the office you should know alot about it. Also, I think the bank is still there on the first floor and other business do not operate within the bank's area so that was fishy. Second, he told me the rate he quoted was a now-or-never, very pressuring and rude. I was not prepared to pay him today, then he said he would take a portion of it to get started then became a VERY SCAMMY TELEMARKETER I just want your money vibe after that. I used to tell consumers whenever you are unsure dont give your money or credit card info make a report with the Illinois States Attorney office and they will check them out and issue a consumer warning if its suspect. So I am going to do that and leave it up to them because I am certain, but I would rather they handle it than to come on here and make claims without proffessional investigation.

I am currently realizing my book project „The Internet Contact“ with StoneBridge Publishers. It is a very good working experience together with Ethan Cole and the editorial team.
They are all acting in a very professional way.
I contacted StoneBridge Publishers through their website and they offered a very reasonable price. They are far away from being fraud or being scam.

I am not sure what to say. The actual amount these guys quoted me was out right thievery @ 5,000 dollars. All I can say to any unsuspecting authors, is run people run far and wide and find a respectful reputable publisher.
