Surfline Avis 22

The premium with ads subscription is a scam: each time you click on a web cam you have to wait for a couple of ads to upload then play, the whole things take several minutes, it is a rip off to charge surfers and force us to wait and watch ads which take for ever.

It's not lost on me that forecasting is tricky. However, Surfline charge people for forecasting and cams and most of the time, the forecasts are woeful. I genuinely can't remember the last time they were even vaguely consistent. I paid for a year upfront and will not be renewing again

So many cams are offline, and some never put back up. I've inquired with support many times, and found out that they expect cam hosts to pay for everything!!! so they reap all the benefits without barely lifting a finger. - and if the cam goes out- oh well, you've just forked out $80 bucks for practically nothing coz as others have said the forecasting and quality readings are shite. it still has some use though, hence the 2 stars

Poor - used to have some greens to go surfing options on magic seaweed and gang of us would regularly head out.

Since surf line took over always says fair to poor and we havnt been out for over a year.

Cancelled subscription as too negative compared to magic seaweed.

Hopefully someone else launches a competitor

Your forcast should be more like magicseaweed it took one glimpse to understand, surfline needs a master degree to much bull shit.

They suck unfortunately. Cams are down a lot of the time. Wave predictions are way off. If the cams were functioning properly, who cares about the rest but they are not, a lot!

This has become a bottomless pit for money and subscriptions with virtually zero Surfline Sessions support despite a faulty App that keeps losing my Sessions before they can be synced. I can’t recommend this App. Yes, you get an A.I. response immediately. But then you can’t discern between the A.I. response and the real human response. This is a mess. And that’s putting it politely.

My advice…?

Just go get a GoPro and mouth mount… and in addition, find a video-cam product that has a wide field of vision, and set it up on your dashboard (or let your gf watch it against theft… etc).
Those two, together, blow Sessions out of the water. Pun intended.

They've successfully monopolized surf forecasting and live cams and continue to exploit surfers into outrageous membership fees. Somebody needs to get access to these cams and provide a free or very-low cost service for folks to view. Surfers around the world are suffering. Their greed has lowered global surf stoke significantly, which goes against everything they should stand for.

Inaccurate surf report wavering on just flat out lying! For years wave reports are grossly exaggerated so much today i checked if there is a trust report on Surfline. Truth: i am at the southern california beach with ankle deep ripples and Surfline claims a "observed" 3 feet to 5 feet with the same day and time?
And the kicker is Surfline advertises their ?premium? plan for more worthless info. Surfline staff must all be sand crab size urchans when they claim waves are over head and its perfect mirror flat. Again not wrong just today but daily for years=Shameline. Don't trust or waste your GREEN WITH SURFLYINE

Ads are terrible, UI sucks, they bought Magicseaweed so now they're nearly the only game in town. Their models are consistently wrong, and they are constantly blowing up spots even when waves are mediocre. Now they're cracking down on "password sharing" which was the only way to justify having their terrible service, somehow finding the only way to make it more terrible.

Thankfully there are other sites.

So sad they have monopolized surfing. SO WRONG.

Forecast doesn't help you at all, and you often have to pay to view webcams that are free on other websites, use surf forecast .com

Surfline is terrible , they took over a perfectly good site called eye ball and ruined it.
Surfline is now packed with adverts that dominate the whole site.
It locks up and takes an age to load.
Is wildly inaccurate .
They are just greedy money grabbers.
I use other sites and cams now.
Do not subscribe it's no better .

Great UI, wrong forecast predictions. Escpecially, when It goes off-season. Accuracy is 2 out of 5
Whoever is your data provider - change it :D

I haven't had a great experience with Surfline when I paid for it as a subscriber and now I am not subscribing its even worse. Adverts that are completely off and far too long. I don't even bother staying till the end.
I just just go to other free cams now and check the surf from there

I live in Cornwall where conditions vary widely between North and South coasts. Yet we just receive a daily forecast that appears on all the Cornwall sites. Needless to say, it's wildly inaccurate to the point of being meaningless. Even the current conditions are described wrongly. The webcams are OK but I can find them elsewhere. Do better

First off I'm Autistic. I live on a budget and and don't get to go surfing much. One of the only things that brings me joy is Watching waves roll in. Whether on screen or live. Surfline got me on the free trial, and I forgot to cancel. So they charged my cars 99$ and I got nothing. No premium , just the basic!@#$%. Surfline blows! There customer support sux also.

I come from the north coast of Ireland and all I can tell you is that surfline surf reports/predictions are so inaccurate. Absolutely awful. If you want a decent report go elsewhere, windguru etc.

More often than not the report is incorrect when I head to a break. I use it for a rough idea as to IF there MIGHT be surf then use other means to verify it. For this, it's ok.

This is not the reason I give it a low review however. I really dislike a company that will use ads as a way to punish users to try to get them to sign up for premium. The fact that a webcam will stop the ad countdown if you scroll off of it means I'm forced to sit and stare at an advert for surfline premium for 15 seconds, to be given a 20 seconds of video only to be met with another 15 seconds of staring at an an advert for surfline premium. It made me hate you.

In those windows of 15 seconds, being forced to stare at your name, I reflected on my deep dislike for companies, like yours, that take this approach. It gave me time to come up with the idea to leave a lousy review based off of the back of it.

They want you to pay for their premium service but they will not let you see whether it’s worthwhile or not. There are so many ads that it renders the website absolutely useless. Having to watch over 30 seconds of ads to watch 15 seconds of Content does not allow one to make an informed decision about the quality of the product.
I love the concept, but I am unable to view the product. Very disappointing as it seems everything feeds towards surfline and you have no other option.
There is no way to know whether this is worth the money or not
