Make no mistake, this is not the same company that makes the Tesla Powerwall battery and Tesla cars. To be fair, they do include a disclaimer stating as such on their website.

Tesla solar completely sucks

Tesla solar completely sucks. Have had major ongoing issues with panels not generating, system failures and high energy bills due to the system not functioning. Can only schedule service through the Tesla app. Takes MONTHS for technicians to come asses the problem, then say the issue needs to be referred to another department. Have spent over a year trying to get the system to run properly. BEWARE!!

Tesla customer support

I installed a Tesla solar system 3 years ago. For the last 2 years it was broken twice. I understand it is a complex system that can sometimes break, but not every year.... This time it broke on Jan 20, and it was fixed only on April 24. It was a nightmare to reach customer support, and they referred me to different tiers, not providing real ECDs and not wanting to send a technician onsite, stating that they need to check it first virtually and that it is my internet fault. I went through the hassle of changing all internet equipment and paying for it when it was unnecessary. Eventually after the arrival of the Tesla technician, it was fixed, and the technician stated that it was a known problem that happens quite often with the Tesla Powerwalls. So basically, technical support knew the issue from the beginning, but they refused to take action and put me through the entire cycle. As a result my power bills just doubled, I lost time, and I was very frustrated.
My advice: Tesla got too big and too many customers but didn't back up technicians. Go with the local solar company, and in case of a similar situation, you can resolve it faster.

We purchased a house with a Powerwall...

We purchased a house where the former owner installed a Tesla Powerwall+ and solar panels. The owner transferred the device over to us and provided proof of having done so. After a year, we were wondering how to access information on how the panels were doing, etc., other than our monthly electrical bill. We found we had to use the Tesa Car app, which in itself was odd, but okay. I followed the steps to connect, but the device refused to connect to the app. I looked up some YouTube videos on things to look for and followed each of those steps, including pressing the reset button, turning off the unit, waiting, then rebooting, shutting the unit off at the breaker box, and disconnecting the gateway and reconnecting it after a few minutes. Each time attempting to connect to the device. No luck at all. So, I looked up Tesla support and found a phone number, called it, and got stuck in an endless IVR loop that kept asking me to press buttons or sent me to the wrong area. I gave up on that after about 45 mins. I checked to find Tesla Certified service providers in my area and was given a list of three companies. I called each of them: one was a roofing company that did not even know what a Powerwall was, the second did not provide support, and the third was out of business! As a last-ditch effort, I sent them an email requesting support -- I provided the details of my unit (type, Serial Number, etc.) and what the specific issue was (could not connect to it on the app). FIVE DAYS LATER, I received an email from them, telling me they could not find my email in their system (the unit was transferred), and asked me what the issue was -- which was already explained in detail to them in the original email. To add even more insult, the email was sent from a "no-reply" address, and any attempt to respond was rejected (I didn't catch this until after the first attempt). I reread the email, and there was NO OTHER WAY to respond to their questions. Period. I tried going back to the app to see if I could find a ticket or something to respond to, but no such luck. I tried calling again, but never got a human. And to make things somehow even WORSE, I have received two additional "follow-up" emails from their support team that I CANNOT RESPOND TO. This has been THE MOST FRUSTRATING EXPERIENCE EVER. If this is the norm (as it seems to be from the other reviews here) I would advise AVOIDING TESLA AT ALL COSTS. Absolutely HORRIBLE "customer service" if that is what you can call it. I call it a big F-U to their customers. Once they have the money, you are useless to them.

TESLA SOLAR have had a scheme running…

TESLA SOLAR have had a scheme running offering a 350 dollar discount on the purchase of a Powerwall3 battery in your solar system which i did and had it approved by Tesla who issued a Virtual debit card in my name and opened on Gpay with the amount in pounds of £373.15p on the card . I have tried numerous ways with retailers using the VISA card scheme and it will be refused,declined . I have tried Octopus energy,Costco ,and other retailers in person and on line. I have emailled Best Payment Solutions several times who sponser the card by Tesla and are the Tesla Energy Processing Customer Servicewho are in partnership with Best Payment and sent them four declined till recepts from yesterday after my last attempt to use the Virtual debit card with no response i cannot only assume its an offering that cannot be used and has a time life of 26 weeks or its fraudulently advertising a scheme that does not work.

Poor customer service

Poor customer service. First you have to hunt for the service number. I cheated this time and used Chat GBT. You click on contact us, and it takes you around the world before you finally get to talk to an ill-qualified robot that takes you in circles (about 45 minutes of "Let's try this)." Ask to talk to a human and about 15 minutes later the bot finally understands. It took me over 1 hour to connect to a human. I had to wait about 45 days for Tesla technicians to remove my solar panels and now wait two months to get my solar panels reinstalled. So over 3 months of paying on the solar panels when they sit under my patio. Tesla doesn't care about customers. Hire more technicians and office support to provide for the needs of the customers!!! Go with some other solar company!!!

Esperienza negativa

Esperienza negativa. Il servizio clienti ti prende in giro. A seguito di un temporale, la batteria ha smesso di funzionare. Abbiamo segnalato il problema aprendo un ticket come richiesto nella loro area clienti. È da un mese che chiamo due volte a settimana per sapere se hanno preso in carico la questione e rispondono sempre che a breve l' ufficio tecnico mi farà sapere. Ormai non ci credo più! Tra l' altro mi hanno fornito un numero di caso ma quando chiamo devo fornire ogni volta generalità e tutti i codici della batteria. Mi chiedo a cosa corrisponda il numero di caso se ad ogni mia chiamata ripartono da zero!

Avoid Tesla Solar

If you're considering Tesla Solar for your home, think twice. My experience with them has been nothing short of frustrating, marked by a lack of professionalism and a refusal to take responsibility for their mistakes.

Hidden Roof Issues and Lack of Transparency

Tesla Solar failed to properly inspect my roof before installation. Another company, before performing any work, conducted an inspection and immediately identified a roofing issue, refusing to proceed until it was addressed. Tesla, however, either ignored or failed to notice this issue. Instead of informing me, they proceeded with the installation, leading me to believe my roof was in perfect condition.

Excessive Charges for Minimal Effort

When the issue was finally discovered, Tesla charged me $300 for an inspector to review the problem—an inspection that lasted less than 20 minutes. That’s more than what most lawyers charge per hour, and all for something they should have caught before installation even began.

Refusal to Communicate and Unprofessionalism

Rather than discussing the matter over the phone, Tesla refused to communicate directly and instead demanded immediate payment. The complete lack of professionalism and disregard for customer satisfaction was astonishing.

A Strong Recommendation to Avoid Tesla Solar

Tesla Solar fails to prioritize customers, refuses to take responsibility for their mistakes, and overcharges for their own errors. Their lack of transparency and unwillingness to communicate should be a massive red flag for anyone considering their services. If you're looking to invest in solar energy, choose a company that values its customers—Tesla Solar is not that company.

Tesla solar has the WORST customer…

Tesla solar has the WORST customer service EVER. I'm trying to get ahold of them because of their inefficient panels and NO ONE to reach so far. Automated maze is impossible to reach somebody. I am not paying a single dollar towards my faulty panels unless I hear back from somebody.

One of the least customer friendly…

One of the least customer friendly solar providers. We chose to employ their solar systems as an early adopter and have been extremely dissatisfied. You can not contact anyone live. The emails I send take forever to get a response. Our roof has been leaking where they installed the panels and they are telling me it would take 3/6 months to remove and reinstall. Very frustrating. Buyer be aware.

Worst customer service ever

Worst customer service ever. I took over solar panels in Oct 2023 and half have never worked. You cannot make a service request for less than 2 months away and then they come out and do nothing but tell you you will need to make another 2 month away appt because they don't do roofs. Then next appt they remove a panel, leave it in the yard and give you only the message that you need to make another 2 month away appt. Still nothing to this day except making appts that never result in resolving the issue.

Tesla Solar - Do not Recommend doing any business with them!

I have solar system with a Powerwall 2 already installed on my home. I contacted Tesla to add an additional Powerwall 2 battery to my system. When I requested a quote on-line from Tesla they provided an out of pocket coat of $10252. Tesla give me an estimate of 2 to 4 week to get a final design and cost about 3.5 weeks in the process they came back with estimate of $16xxx.00. Tesla Poject Advisor said this was only an estimate and I would get a final once they had a final design. We are now starting the 10th week into this project and I still do not have a final design and cost. I can't find a number for any manager or supervisot to call! The few times I have gotten any communication back from the Project Advisot Grp they just say work in process. I have been very happy with my 1st Powerwall 2 that was installted by Sunrun. My recommendation is not to do business with Tesla directly for any solar products. You can not contact Tesla via phone nor will the Project Advisor pass you to a Supervisor/Manager.

3-year Tesla solar roof system with…

3-year Tesla solar roof system with inverters that, were already replaced twice, stopped communicating with the gateway and after two tech visits and a new gateway still do not communicate. Now it will take more than 3 weeks to get another tech out to try to determine what the issue with the Tesla equipment is. Why couldn’t the other techs fix the issue. Terrible service making customers wait months to troubleshoot issues, get equipment fixed or replaced.
This is in addition to my complaint review, I don't recommend Tesla Energy - Complaint 8.28.22, posted August 29, 2022.

Horrible and complete lack of customer support

I should've gotten a hint about how Tesla Energy customer service is going to be from the experience I had during energy purchase process. Their preference for no human interaction is absurd!! I should have believed the ratings! Not even 1 year passes post my solar panel and battery installation, that I notice in the app that my system is not generating any power whatsoever. A complete shut down and it's been so for the past 12 days. Didn’t get a notification or nothing! I tried the so called customer support number , but wait time is over an hour, I had to leave my phone number for a callback. There is a chat option in the app but you wait 20 minutes for a chat agent, then the chat drops connection or they try to transfer you and the chat drops you and you have yo start the process from the beginning again! Both phone support and chat are only available during the weekdays. Like if energy generation only works during the week! Anyway, finally got somebody through chat to help me troubleshoot, no help; system is still down. They opened a case and said that it will take another 25 days for tier 2 support to review the case. OMG !! what kind of support is this? Tesla energy customer support has no understanding of customer needs, a sense of urgency, and doesn't act in a way to demonstrate they care about the customer. They're not even staffed to handle the amount of installations they have. My advice to energy customers, try to get Tesla products but use a different installer. Stay away from tesla energy!

Please dont buy Tesla Solar

Actually I would not put one star few months back Solar was installed few days it worked and then stop working and last 5/6 months just between scheduling appointments to fix it , technician comes changes something works for few minus he leaves again stops working called tesla they ask to schedule appointment again one month technician comes does something round robin poor poor customer service please dont waste money and your time and peace trust me

3rd World Product and Service from Tesla Solar: Avoid at all costs

I paid CASH for a tesla solar system thinking i was dealing with a reputable company who understood customers and their needs. I have spent over $35k on their solar system and powerwall and just after 4 weeks the system has stopped working completely. Since discussing my issue with one of their "service" people i was told that my issue will be sent to their Tier 2 team, who, within 7 - 10 working days will contact me and get the problem fixed. Its now been 15 working days (thats over a month for normal people) and i have had ZERO response from ANYONE at Tesla. When i call in to ask i get a very rude person telling me i have no option but to wait for someone from Tier 2 to respond. Apparently Tier 2 are non customer facing and do not work on weekends. We are completely in their hands as to when our system can operate.
I am absolutely dumbfounded with the way in which Tesla has dealt with my issue.

PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE save yourself the frustration and look for a company that values customers. After a month with no solar and no response from Tesla i will be looking at options of trying to retrieve my money back. They have sold me a lie.

PLEASE NOTE: after 6 weeks of trying to find out when my system will be repaired i have been advised that Tesla Solar has NO customer service team outside the initial ones. This means if this department cannot fix your issue Tier 2 take over. You cannot communicate with them. They will not communicate with you. There is no one to complain to or to push the complaint to. THIS is Tesla's policy. Just wait until you hear from them and when that will be is not listed as a policy, in other words... tough luck...

I am truly lost!! I hope this review steers you away from such an awful company and experience!!

Great cars AWFUL Solar energy

We love Tesla cars and the philosophy. We made a HUGE mistake in extending that trust to the solar energy unit. It has been the single worst customer experience we’ve had in fifty years. Buy the cars. Whatever you do, don’t order their solar system or you will go months and months awaiting the smallest inevitable repair.

terrible support

This is regarding support ticket C000C01A41

I am a tesla solar customer. I've had it on my roof for over two years, as it was in place when I bought the house. I've monitored it's output with the tesla app.

Got a new phone and couldn't get the app to show me my system. When I logged in it just tried to sell me a car and other products.

I "worked with" Tesla support for over a week trying to address this. It boiled down to this: I could log onto Tesla on my laptop. You have to login to deal with support at all. But I couldn't login to the app on my phone. It'd tell me account is locked and not accessible, WHILE CONCURRENTLY LOGGED IN ON LAPTOP.

They said it was two different systems. "One company, one login?", no, apparently not, as they don't have integrated systems.

After much hassle and many delays, I logged into the app on the phone, but it just tries to sell me stuff. The "gateway" box next to my modem/router is on, no red lights, and support says they can see my solar monitoring, but it doesn't show up on my phone. I asked if there was any way to get my phone to manually "handshake" the gateway, as everything seems to indicate that the gateway and phone aren't talking to each other, but I'm told there's no way to do that.

So in the end they say there's no problem "on their end". I can't see my solar monitoring but they can, and the implication is that something's wrong on my end, but there's nothing unique about my phone or anything. So they say they'll refer it to their "application team". They've done this twice already. They'd say to check back in three days, I'd do so, and find that NOTHING has changed. They did this twice, and now they're not even giving a timeline, just saying that the "app team" will email me when they have some clue.

So clearly they have abandoned me. They believe its working perfectly, as they can see my solar panel monitoring, so its not their problem. They make mewling noises about being very concerned but they also seem to say nothing needs to be fixed, so there's no expectation on my end that they'd ever do anything about this ever again (not that they did anything in the first place).

So sure, buy some Tesla solar panels. Just expect to be left high and dry as soon as there's a problem. These losers don't care, they dismiss you for days on end with promises of repair that amount to nothing, and straight-up shove you out the door when they're tired of trying to appear helpful.

The experience has caused me to loathe this company and I implore you to avoid doing business with them.

Tesla Energy…just as awful as Tesla Service Centers

The only thing worse than Tesla service centers is the service you get from Tesla Energy.

Tesla told us our system would take 3 days to install. After not showing up for 15 to 20 appointments…the system took 35 days to install.

They system never worked the way it should. It is underproducing massively compared to what Tesla said it would. Tesla doesn’t monitor the system much at all. They installed inverters that were already so out of date that they needed to upgrade mother boards after the install. One of my inverters stopped working later and it takes a month or more to get Tesla to show up to fix the issue.

Hire anyone other than Tesla to do your solar system!!!

I would give zero stars if I could - abandonment

I would give zero stars if I could. Tesla Solar took my deposit in March 2022, then took several months to do a simple redesign that should have taken one person 5-10 minutes at a desktop. Then it took Tesla Solar another 4-5 months to schedule an in-site inspection. After that, Tesla claimed my roof was in need of repairs based on some internal person's review of photos even though he wasn't a contractor or had any experience with roof work. Even though my roofing contractor said the roof needed no work or repair, I did the work. Spent a small fortune doing unnecessary work just to please Tesla and not give them any more excuses for causing even longer delays... and then Tesla just suddenly decided to cancel the contract! The California contractors licensing board says it is investigating other complaints against Tesla for abandoning contracts. Stay away! Literally any other solar contractor would do a better job. Can't believe I waited the best part of a year for them and they would do this.

Tesla Solar Panels does not provide technical Support

We have had Tesla Solar panels for several years without incident until Hurricane Ian and we lost electric for one week. Our bill was always under $50.00 until Nov. when it was $240 and $190 In Dec. In Nov. my husband phoned Tesla and they refused a hone assessment visit stating tha that the Powerwall was working according to their monitoring system. It was Suggested that we phone FPL,After we saw our Dec bill we phone FPL, who also stated our FPL system was working and redused to a home assessment of our electric meter and stated that their monitoring showed decreased energy production of our energy production since July and Tesla is the problem. I would never recommend Tesla Solar panels to anyone, There is no technical support service.
