Be careful

I left a Leica with these people on 13.10.25. I called them on 6.11.25 and they told me it had been sold at the asking price two days before, and that 'commission sales' were settled 28 days after the 'point of sale'. I called in January to find out why I had not been paid and was told that the buyer had returned the camera for a small repair for which I was responsible. I heard nothing more so called again on 3.2.26 to be told that payment had been made a few days before. I was told I was responsible for the VAT on the repair as I was the owner. When I pointed out that they had been paid 12 weeks earlier and that I was no longer the owner I was told to take it up with HMRC. My complaint is that from 13.10.25 to 3.2.26 there was never once a communication from the shop, I always had to chase, and also that there attitude was not what I would have thought reasonable given the high value and level of trust that the seller has to assume in 'The Classic Camera'. I have other Leicas but I'll sell them elsewhere.

Dreadful customer service

Item ordered from website no communication item was out of stock. Contacted them was informed item in by the end of the week. Again nothing ! I waited two months until I asked for a refund and miraculously item arrived two days later. No communication,no apology, nothing. Which is just very poor when it’s so simple to do.

AVOID this rude unhelpful shop

AVOID this rude unhelpful shop, had a service done from this shop that cost £150, the lens came back with a finger print behind the front optic and the barrel is loose, shocking repair/service do NOT use this shop.

Great experience buying & selling

Wanted to sell a Leica so emailed a few companies. Andy responded very promptly and offered a good deal for a commission sale. I was down in London so dropped the camera in. He was very helpful and we had a good chat. As a result I ended up ordering a D-Lux 8 from him. My camera sold at the price he'd suggested and I was paid when his terms of business said I would be. He let me know that the D-Lux 8 had arrived and it was sent up to Manchester straight away, arriving the next day. All in all an excellent experience.

Great service

Another great camera from The Classic Camera, this time a Leica D-Lux 8. Fantastic service from a real camera shop. I have purchased many Leicas from them. They are always helpful and have decades of knowledge about the brand.

Save yourself the hassle and shop elsewhere

Would never normally leave a bad review, but felt implored to here. Other negative reviews still hold true on poor customer service. Incredibly arrogant and rude. Wish I had listened. Save yourself the hassle and shop elsewhere.

AVOID AVOID AVOID. The worst customer experience in the UK so far. I wanted to return a product I am not satisfied with one week after purchasing and they literally 'kicked me out' of the store. The item was not used, I just tested it. You can't believe how they were arrogant, accusatory, rude and annoying.

Great Service as always

I've bought from The Classic Camera a few times over the years and also PX'd with them too. Throughout, I've found them highly courteous, really helpful and the quality of service is always excellent. Today in particular as I was buying a camera body from them - a quick phone conversation before ordering and then the item was despatched on same day delivery, within 30 mins of purchase. Fantastic stuff. Thank you.

Delighted

Have bought several cameras and lenses from Andy at the Classic Camera over the years and recently an M10-P. I have always found them very knowledgeable and helpful, without uneccessarily pressurising when you wander into the store. If buying in store, please be sure you understand their returns policy (as an independent they are stricter than chains), but I was delighted with the service and got a fair price and immediate payment for a camera I sold them in upgrading. I have found their used and new prices are always very reasonable and they helped me a lot.

Fantastic service

Fantastic, genuine and generous service. Would recommend The Classic Camera to anyone looking to buy Leica, be it new, or used. I'm sure I'll be back soon to look at all that lovely glass!

A truly dreadful company

Sold me an item that I could not use, then when I returned it for refund they pretended I had damaged it and refused to refund! After a lot of arguing they did refund the purchase price, but refused to refund the postage - they have to refund postage, by law. And when I telephoned to try to sort this out, the guy who answered called me "A despicable human being" for even asking for a refund.
