Proper Dupe for IKEA Bookshelf

I went for the Enetri bookshelf (IKEA dupe) from this company and it's awesome. Exactly what I was going for. However, it did forever to get here... like 3 weeks past its original estimated arrival date. Annoying, but not a dealbreaker to me. More importantly, assembly was easy, it's sturdy, and it looks CLEAN. Would order again, might put another in my office eventually... but I'd refrain from buying if you need it by a specific date or are on a time crunch.

Shady Businesses

I bought an item on the web site and they sneaked in an annual membership with a free month subscription and then in the next month, they charged my card for the full annual fee $95.00. They told me because i did not canceled it, I agreed for the charge

great quality product despite shipping delays

overall, i have to say im pleasantly surprised. i have had my eye on the ikea enetri bookshelf (& the 2025 re-release that was quickly discontinued) for several years but never wanted to pay as much as re-sellers were asking. i saw it on the essential for like $400 (compared to over $1000 on ebay), and i figured i had to try. i read so many reviews and definitely had my hesitations, and i agree the shipping was delayed and communication was not great, but my shelf got delivered, and I could not be happier with it. total about 2 months from purchase to delivery, and the quality is honestly excellent. it looks so good in my apartment i love showing it off. worth the risk! i would shop here again based on my experience

Don't be fooled by their aesthetic website

I ordered my item 2.5 months ago and still do not have any updates or tracking info on it. I've emailed the customer service and they've given me a ton of excuses from it being lost in the mail, to telling me they have a tracking number (which they could not provide) & that they shipped it to telling me that the manufacturer wouldn't have it in stock for another few weeks. What gets me is that at one point they lied and said it was shipped when they just turned around to tell me it was on backorder. This website and company is such a scam - don't be fooled by their marketing because you'll never receive your item.

From what you mentioned, it sounds like there may have been conflicting updates provided while our team was trying to confirm the status of your order with the supplier. When an item is delayed or a shipment is being traced, we sometimes receive changing information from our logistics partners, but that should always be communicated to you clearly and consistently. Broken missing items, scam

I ordered a side table and a lamp last month. The side table arrived with a missing foot making it unusable. The lamp was never shipped. They are impossible to reach. I feel like I was scammed.

Dreadful customer service

I ordered two sets of express trolley bags. Weeks later I was sent an email saying more stock was in transit and asking if I wanted to wait or cancel the order. I said I would prefer to wait. Weeks go by and I get an email stating that they had cancelled my order. No refund yet. Still waiting.

The essential has horrible customer…

The essential has horrible customer service. I placed on order and still waiting for it to be shipped. I have sent numerous emails just to get one back telling me the item is ready to ship from the warehouse and that I will receive a notification of shipping within 24 to 72 hours. I will never shop here again and will let others know as well. Get your act together. I would of gave them ZERO stars

Be aware. Placed order on July 3, shipping label created on July 12. Today is July 14, and there is still no movement of the UPS Package. Worst Online Shopping Experience ever.

Cheaply Sourced, Delays, Damaged

The site looks nice, but not a trustworthy company. Their items are sourced from places like AliExpress and then marked up, plus shipping.

I ordered a table that took months to arrive. Along the way I asked for updates and eventually a refund since they couldn't locate the package. They ignored my refund requests and the table eventually arrived damaged. Again, I requested a refund and they offered a $15 credit. After pushing back they eventually said they were sending me a new table, but instead sent me a portion of the table. It arrived in an AliExpress box. Bad experience overall.

I rarely leave reviews, but The Essential absolutely deserves the praise. From the moment I placed my order, the entire experience was seamless—from fast shipping to sweet customer service reps. You can tell right away that quality and design are at the heart of this brand.

I’ve been using their [insert product, e.g., linen duvet cover and silk eye mask, and it’s quickly become one of my favorite things. The materials feel premium, the craftsmanship is solid, and the aesthetic is effortlessly elevated. It gives that quiet luxury vibe without the crazy price tag.

Customer service was also top-tier. I had a small question about my order and got a helpful, kind response within hours. It's rare to see a brand nail both the product and the experience this well.

If you're looking for beautifully made essentials that blend design, function, and affordability—this is it. I'm already planning my next order.

I now have 2 charges from “Exceptional Essentials”, plus one pending. I did not order anything so you obviously hacked my credit which I have had to cancel and wait up to 3 weeks for a replacement. I see your website is closed. Shame on you for scamming people! You are being investigated by my credit card company

Even one star is a bit high

Even one star is a bit high. I bought a desk chair from them - which they said would arrive in 2-3 weeks. At the 4-week mark I emailed to ask where it was. They said it would actually be 2 months — a fact they’d known from the start. Super shady.

The most recent debacle of an order…

The most recent debacle of an order (mis-matched glasses followed by a broken lamp that was unprofessionally packed, resulting in it fracturing during shipping) has resulted in an endless ZENdesk string of emails that get NOWHERE. I am so over it.

I have been a member since before they rebranded as "The Essential," and they get it wrong, alot. Yes, on occasion there are great deals, and sometimes it gets delivered as ordered, but a full 1/3 of the time it does not.

ALL of the issues have to do with packaging issues, and it appears that orders ship from the actual maker or distributor, not "The Essential," so the inconsistency varies wildly.

I'm done.

Nearly two weeks and 26 emails to get things handled and a return shipping label handled is ESSENTIALLY pure BS. STILL WAITING!!!

Disappointing and Frustrating Experience

Ordered two hand soaps and two hand balm on August 11. The two hand balm arrived within a couple of weeks. The two hand soap were destroyed during transit and never received. After several weeks of chasing and waiting, replacements were sent but received damaged because the items are not packed correctly. Have chased and chased without resolution, despite emails giving assurances that the matter is being dealt with. Have now given up and will be applying for a credit card charge back.

I never got one of my shipments

I never got one of my shipments, with no help getting a replacement. They ran out of an item I ordered and offered me another. The quality of clothes I did get was basic Walmart feel. Shipping took about a month.

Raised a bunch of money and ghosted all investors

The company (Chai Mishra) raised a bunch of money on crowdsourcing platforms a few years ago and we haven't heard about any company updates since then.The head of investor success from wefunder has tried to reach out to the CEO multiple times but there has been no response.

The company also changed its name from The Move to The Essential.

What is going on? Please provide an update instead of ghosting all of your investors!

Awful wait, even more awful quality

Like others on here, you're going to wait a long time for anything you order here. The food is OK. Everything else is poorly made and cheap quality. Received a lamp I ordered after 4 months and it stopped working 3 months after. I had used it maybe once. Customer service was nice enough to refund with credits, but at this point not even sure what I would use here.

What a mess

What a mess. Signed up for this "company" back when they were heavily marketing via media. After a few months I submitted an order due to a special they were advertising. I ordered some snacks and food, hoping I could try them out and potentially start using them for some meals. I instantly regretted the purchase. The order went into "processing" and stayed there for months. E-mails to customer service were unread and no reply.

I finally charged back the order with my credit card. These guys had the guts to contest the charge, but as soon as I screenshot their website with the order "In Process" all went quiet. I thankfully got my money back.

Essential, no thanks, won't ever do business with you ever again. Nice try.
