The Good Kitchen Avis 4

My experience with this company has been very good. I like some meals more than others and am glad there is an option to review what they have chosen and change the meals I do not care for. I like that they use healthy oils and clean or organic ingredients. I contacted the company by email and received a prompt and positive outcome. Once my box got “lost” somewhere and arrived 5 days late. They told me not to eat any of the meals and credited my account. Another time the box was very damaged and some of the meals were unusable. Even though these were shipping issues and not their fault they credited my account I do usually add salt and pepper and sometimes olive oil to my taste but this is personal taste.

When we did our initial order we selected the option to not do a subscription, but they did a subscription anyway and we didn’t know this until it was too late to cancel. On top of that the food is only OK. Do not do business with them!

This company intentionally denied me over 8k in money owed for services rendered. Do not trust them! Complete scam artists.

I'm a Registered Dietitian and this is the third meal delivery service that I've reviewed. Unfortunately, it's also my least favorite.

The Good Kitchen has a good concept and excellent menu choices but are sadly lacking in execution. The descriptions of each of their dishes sound delicious and novel, but the reality is underwhelming and over-spiced.

The meals arrived vacuum-packed, which is different from what I've experienced with other services and thought it looked cool at first. However, it soon became clear that the vaccum-sealed process did nothing to enhance or retain flavors. It also required you to cut away the seal instead of easily tearing off the film like other meal delivery services. Please consider adding some kind of tab to the film so it's easy to remove.

The flavors and texture were the biggest disappointment. The vegetables turned out incredibly mushy even when microwaved for the minimum suggested time. Most of their Asian-inspired dishes smelled and tasted overwhelmingly of ginger. The mashed potatoes in their Shepherd's Pie was oddly grainy. The meals overall reminded me of overpriced cafeteria food.

3.) The portion sizes were laughable. One of the dinner or lunch meal consisted ONLY of five or six chicken wings. That. Is. It. No side dishes. No vegetables. Just six measly wings to count as a meal. I'm starting to question whether they actually consulted a nutritionist for their plans. No self-respecting dietitian would advise having just wings for a meal.  That's a snack at BEST. The rest of their fares were similarly meager; I was always left feeling hungry, as though I hadn't eaten anything at all.

Overall, of the two-weeks worth of meals that I ordered, I could count on two fingers the ones that I regarded as decent. In all honesty, I would have canceled my subscription after four days.

Sadly, the Good Kitchen is not a service I would recommend to my clients.
