Matilda trip made easy
The School Trip were able to make the trip relatively seamless. They were flexible in terms of our payment plan and also proactively reached out close to the trip date to ensure all was in hand. Made my job a lot easier.

UPDATED 16.6.26 A real positive from a very disappointing trip
UPDATED 16.6.26
Following a very disappointing trip to the Ramses II exhibition (see review below) I was contacted by the owner of the School Trip, Tom, who was nothing short of exceptional in handling this issue. The experience was not his fault yet took accountability. Moreover he managed to sort a refund for me and my school. His customer service and communication throughout was exemplary and though I will still not recommend taking a school to the exhibition, I must recommend using The School Trip for any excursions. Thank you Tom.
I took 20 Year 5 and 6 KS2 children to the Ramses II exhibition in May. Unfortunately, the classroom and learning part of this trip was an absolute disaster. Before the children entered the building I wanted to make sure everything was set up for them and get un understanding of what the task was that they would be undertaking. The room was set up, but all the packs were for KS3 children. I told the booking department earlier in the week that we were Year 5 and 6 KS2 children. So there was a clear lack of communication there. I asked the man who was assisting us to please find more age appropriate learning packs and told him that we were Year 5 and 6 KS2 children. When I came back 10 minutes later with my children (Who I had explained to that there had been a mix up, hence the wait to go into the building) into the classroom, there were only 4 packs for the children and they all said Year 3 and 4 KS2 on it.
It was a at this point when I turned to the man and asked for him to print some copies so the children could share the pack 1 between 2 not 1 between 5. There was some reluctance when I asked "do you know how long that might take?" as the assistants response was "as long as it takes".
I looked through the activity packs and noticed that some of them had instructions like 'cut and stick out the following...' (No scissors or glue was provided) and build this model out of lego (No resources provided). Bless the kids, they gave what they could complete a really good go but the whole experience was a total waste of time and money.
It was time for the exhibition and upon walking up the stairs we joined the short queue to enter into the video room. For some reason we were made to wait for 20 minutes while people who joined the queue after us were let through. I didn't understand why the group of children were not prioritised? It had been an hour and half since we arrived and there was a part of me that wanted the whole experience to be over. Once inside, the exhibition was really good and there was lots of really interesting stuff. We have been learning about propaganda and bias in our Literacy / History lessons and many of the kids were asking me things like 'I wonder if Ramses was really this "Great" or did he claim this himself?' So there were many good learning opportunities.
I quite enjoyed the private chaperone who was lurking over our shoulders throughout the exhibition asking me to wear my backpack on my front. I've not had that before!
There was a wait for the VR (which is understandable) it was good fun and the children absolutely loved this part of the trip. They particularly enjoyed the jump scare midway though!
I wouldn't go again unfortunately and I won't be recommending this trip to schools thinking of taking KS2 children. There were some really good parts which were eclipsed by the disaster of a "lesson" and the wait time for the exhibition and the VR. Ultimately, The School Trip need to send the teachers the resources before the trip so that they can prepare the lesson and deliver it to their class. Any teacher will tell you how hard it is to enter a room and essentially "wing it" with no preparation. Alternatively, have someone delivering the content and actually teach a lesson themselves. The assistant said that the packs were all self explanatory and showed me the area at the back of the classroom for the teachers to sit and let the kids do the activity themselves. I often talk to other teachers about 'hooks' and how important it is to try and get the children invested in a lesson. It's unfair to expect children to be invested in a load of paper on a table with instructions to tasks they can not complete.
It'd be interesting to know if anyone from the company The School Trip have been teachers before as much of the content given to us, I could have been sourced from TES, Twinkl etc.
Great all round
Great communication
Great organisation
Would definitely recommend
